Reza was very generous when he said Power BI for Report Server (PBIRS) is a limited version of Power BI in the cloud. It is an EXTREMELY limited version. Think 'red headed step child'. Microsoft does as little as possible to support this version - they want you to move to the cloud and won't spend resources on on-premise versions. In addition to the things Reza mentioned, like PBIRS does not support dashboards (that is, in PBIRS you cannot pin pages of disparate reports to a single dashboard like you can do in the cloud version). There are many things missing and some of them major like you cannot set up email distribution of Power BI reports (although you CAN email out SSRS reports from your PBIRS server). Many of the newer Power BI features are "premium only" and will never be in PBIRS or it takes 6 months or longer for a scaled down version of the feature to eventually make it into a PBIRS release. We still find PBIRS to be useful but not nearly as good as Reza makes it seem.
Thanks for your support, I’ve one question : with teams of 4 developer how we all can work , is needed all developers have access to the Power BI -report server especial all dashboards needed should have connection to different database with diff connection or what’s best practice for this situation Thanks in advance
Thank you for providing such useful information. I have a question if you prepared a report and attempted to upload it to the Power Bi service and get the following error: "We are unable to upload this report." This report was prepared with a recent version of Power Bi Desktop that is not yet supported by the server." What do you do? I need some advice on this.
Does anyone know if SQL Server 2014 doesn't support Power BI Report Server? In one server I have SQL Server 2022 and I did the installation properly and everything runs well, but in another server I have SQL Server 2014, there when I follow the same steps, I get to the Home page of SQL Server Reporting Services. I have not found any resource as to why this might be happening. Please help
Hello, is it true that python scripts are not supported in PBI RS? I created in PBI desktop for PBI-RS a report that retrieves data from an API consumed using python scripts, I published to a Report Server, and tried to open the report, it worked well and the visuals are loaded as normal, so what should be not supported about python scripts?

Hello, thank you for the content. I have a question for you. I’m using MongoDB on the server and I created a Power BI connection on the desktop. If I publish a report, at that time a dataset will be placed on power BI Service in a workspace. The question is, how I can keep updating the dataset automatically? Thanks
