Good to see the Petrie bass still bringing the smiles, cheers for the footage, something about those catfish out there, fished alot of places for bass, but have never caught so many catties, new moon surface fishing out there can produce alot of catties believe it or not
yeah right! thanks for the feed back mate. The catfish there were insane, during the comp around 40 catfish were caught hey. i got one around 60 odd cm they get pretty dam big.
Hey mate - great vid! hey really interested to know with the jigs - do you let them sink right to the bottom when you are fishing the rivers and just jig it along the bottom? Really keen to get into that style of fishing.
Leigh Wallis Hey mate! With the football jig i like to throw it as tight as i can into structure and let the lure sink down to the bottom. They are pretty snag resistant, the snaggier the area the better i reckon. Id run 16-20Lb leader though cause you get yourself into some sticky situations. The Slower the retrieve also the better really, you wanna feel every snag that’s on the bottom. shaking the rod tip while it is hard on the bottomon will get those claws shaking around just like a yabby does which might trigger a bite. I’ve found i seem to get most bites when i deflect the lure over a submerged snag but yeah sometimes you have to really let them eat it before setting the hook. There is a bit of an art to using the lure and i wouldn’t say i’ve mastered it but they are a must have lure in the tackle box. I run the molix jig which are $8 and molix yabby trailers which are like $12 a pack. Pretty affordable and can be dynamite on big fish. More of a spring time lure when the yabbies start to spawn and move around. But i’ve caught fish on them all year round. Hope this helps matey! 👊🏽
Great little vid mate
