    In this talk, Swamiji again reminds listeners that the Self can be attained only by one whose intelligence is purified and there is a clear understanding in the intelligence. The self cannot be attained by the senses or by words. The Truth is Shuddha, where there is no division, it is sentience alone. It has no beginning or end. That is our real identity.
    The scriptures speak about six waves which cause all the disturbance and agitation in the mind-Jara (old age or decay), Mrityu (death), Kshud (Hunger), Pipasa (thirst), Shoka (grief), Moha (delusion). The Consciousness is not touched or disturbed by any of these six waves. This Truth is always contemplated upon in their heart by the Yogis. It cannot be experienced by the sense perceptions. It can also not be grasped by the buddhi which is given to fragmented or divisional thinking. Consciousness is absolutely pure, having no division.
    The buddhi, normally, is given to fragmented and divisional thinking. But by repeated introspection, the buddhi can become sharper, purer and subtler. By Vichara or introspection, the buddhi undergoes a transformation and becomes purer, subtler and starts revealing in the Truth.
    Because of ignorance, we see infinite divisions in the universe. But the basis of all is the Consciousness, our Atma in which everything is appearing. It is the refuge or aashraya of all the various divisions we perceive because of ignorance. The Consciousness is also the refuge of itself. It is established in itself; it does not need any other aashraya. It transcends the difference between existence and non-existence. It is One without any parts and it cannot be compared to anything else.
    The Guru tells the Shishya: Contemplate with the bhava (emotion) in the mind that ‘I am Brahman’.
