    Super quick editing audio, but not so much with captions, just doesn’t do so good with my English Yorkshire accent, I usually just go back into Camtasia and add them there.

    Hi.
    I have loved Camtasia for many, many years. I was impressed by the addition of Audiate, but didn't like how it was not integrated with the timeline and main editor. So I tried Descript, and have really liked the ease of how that works as a single program rather than two separate ones. I much prefer the editing power of Camtasia, but the speed and ease of Descript is far better, and the pricing is much more manageable. I guess my question is whether there is a plan to include the audiate function into Camtasia in the future, or if it will always be a separate product? The scene/scene template is also a really nice convenience on Descript that makes editing way faster. In the end, it probably takes me 1/3 the time editing with Descript to get about 80% of the quality of output.

    0:33 Is it possible to add multiple video files to audiate for transcribing and text-editing simultaneously? I usually have my A-Roll (Talking Head) chopped up in various video sequences (comes out like this from the camera, as max. length only is 18 minutes).

      Multiple video files? No. But, if you have them all in Camtasia and were to group them (Select All -> Right-Click any clip -> Group) and then send the Group to Audiate that will work. When you make your changes and Sync back to Camtasia then you can Ungroup and it should retain the audio edits.

    Is this tool still subscription-based or is it already available as a one-time purchase with maintenance option like SnagIt and Camtasia itself?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith 7 місяців тому

      Audiate is a subscription service only, that's correct. It won't ever transition to a one-time purchase due to the way it was created.

    Does this remove the video associated with the ums? If so is there a risk that the video jumps making it look disjointed? Or does the "edit media only" option only edit the audio and leave the video intact which could result in the two becoming out of synch with each other?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith 7 місяців тому +1

      Great question! It's up to you actually! If you're editing a video and remove the Ums, or even remove a section(s) of audio, Camtasia can automatically edit the video clips with the audio edits when you send it back by selecting "Edit Camtasia Timeline." However, if you'd rather not cut the timeline up, you can select "Edit Media Only" instead. It looks like this:

    Is there an alternative tool which is cheaper/free than audioate to work with camtasia? As I do videos very seldom, subscribing to audioate is too much for me.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith 4 місяці тому

      I guess I'd wonder what features you're looking for from an audio tool? We used to recommend people use Audacity (free) for audio editing, but I don't believe it has any captioning features. Which means it's also not a text-based editor.

      @@andreashe36 Ahh, yes, then I'm unaware of anything that does that for free. Or significantly cheaper even. At least for now. You never know what might pop up though.

    Audiate, like Assets, is too inconsistently expensive ($200/yr) when compared to the maintenance fee it costs for the main tool, which is Camtasia itself (about $50/yr).

    Despite Camtasia being an interesting product...sorry to say this, but it is laggy af. even using a high-end pc with high-end gpu, ram and all the works. its still laggy. to scrub the video, after 1-2hrs or work, it will annoy you so much that restarting the program will be the solution...then do this again after 2 hrs. this is the GREAT way to kill the momentum.
    tried to do most of the suggestions I saw on the internet, but still laggy.
    come on camtasia, its 2023/2024, if premiere could do it, just a simple scrubbing timeline - trim - adjust audio/video clip length...basically a "BASIC EDITING WORK", you guys could do it too, it should not be an issue.

      (Andy here) I always had the same problem in PPro and FCPX when I was editing 4k footage in 2014 (before it was standard). To solve, I always reduced my playback quality to 50% if not 25% so that it didn't drop frames. In Camtasia, the way to do this is by converting your media to Proxy Video. Select any/all clips that you want to playback faster, right-click and select "Proxy Video -> Create Proxy Video."
      Watch a video on creating proxy video here:
