    Great video! I have been looking at a few of these mobile solar panels for the same reason you got it, the beach, and wondered how it would fair. I appreciate all of the details and information, it was exactly what I was after. Thank you for sharing.

      i really do like them and they are tough, i use them backpacking too. I did get the smaller one off ebay with a rechargeable speaker and the (crappy) power pack for not much money ; it was NIB. I think you can find them used fairly easily ... I have a craigslist search going on now for new listings too.

    Left a series of comments on your update that referred back to this review... I have a couple of the chargers that I have used from time to time, not majorly impressed buy nicad batteries much anymore with the coming of lithium stuff in general... I think I got started with Goal Zero with one one the small panels... I had a 28 watt panel that still works, but I think it was discontinued because of delamination of the panel with heat and moisture... mine got tested a bit roughly, but the later 20 watt panels didn't show the same issues... and I could daisy chain them into my power stations...with the 8mm connectors. Got me into the bigger Nomad sizes of panels over time.

      awesome, yes I agree Lithium is the way to go. We have an old 5th wheel we totally remodeled (I should do a video) we kitted it out with solar and lithium (like you said) we can run almost everything (no microwave no AC but we can run the heater) it's great!

      @old school prepper when I was sleeping in my greenhouse during Covid to push cherry tomatoes into February, I explored low wattage heaters, the greenhouse is a small Harbor Freight polycarbonate greenhouse... I have it on a foundation of 3 high 8x8x16 cement blocks with a paver over plastic floor and used 5 gallon buckets to plant in... added 2x4 shelves on the inside. Anyway I found a 400-watt oil filled heater with a thermostat on it, adjusted the heat output to about 50°F so it wouldn't freeze, got the tomatoes into February when the short days were triggering the tomatoes to give up. Strawberry plants in there mostly now. I was surprised how many low wattage heaters there are. I have a 300-watt one on a timer to go off and on under a tarp with my patio fridge power station to keep the lithium battery warm enough to function... lithium does have cold issues... the cut down tarp and 300 wattage heater worked fine, no cold error messages from the 1500x power station.

    Ive always wanted to pull the trigger on getting one of these but just never have from lack of people i knew with them with real experience using them. I like that 13. The power pack is concerning though

      agreed re: the power pack, i'm going to check out the new one and see if it's any good. i asked Reed if he knows anything about them too...we'll see

    The 13 sound a lot better with the hardwired cords and daisy-chain ability. The bigger size awkwardness is out weighed by the daisy-chain i think.

    Have you tried eneloop batteries? , those goal zero batteries are not very good...I see you also do gardening, I will be checking those videos out. I got plans on making a fenced garden because of my chicken menace, they dig up everything.

    • @OldSchoolPrepper
      @OldSchoolPrepper  3 роки тому +1

      Chicken menace 🤣, I hear that. I fence in my chickens and have several garden areas. I'm lucky to have a good dog that chases deer away. I have some of the Eneloop batteries right now, they do seem to be much better!

      @@OldSchoolPrepper I have wild chickens, so they are everywhere. Now that I got my own infrastructure, I want to focus on food production by fencing a area for a small vegetable garden and set up a chicken coop. These are just plans for now, but once it enters my head it gets done.
