@evan6711 people will mention that LeBron's efficiency took a dip, but it's because Golden State started double teaming him on every possession, and not because Iggy "locked him down". On 1v1 possessions in that series, LeBron shot 10/20 on Iggy
Even as a somewhat notorious Lebron critic, I think he had a better argument for FMVP even on the losing team. The Lebron has no help narrative is mostly just excuses for his failures, but in this series Lebron legitimately had no help. He played some of the best basketball I’ve ever seen and it just wasn’t enough to carry.
I mean are they really excuses? Like for example in 09 he lost to the Magic but his team won 66 games so obviously if he lost that means he failed and played bad right? Well no, bro averaged 40 in that series.
LeBron has literally not had help for over a third of his 21 year career, and he has played against some of the best dynasties of all time. 10 straight Finals is ridiculous, and anyone that discounts that and misrepresents just how dire his circumstances have been through his career is an idiot. You can have Jordan as the GOAT, or as simply being better than LeBron (which is factually incorrect), but being a LeBron hater is just a sad existence to be honest. Every player has variables for their greatness, like the fact MJ had one of the best coaches of all time, a HoF team and organization around him, played weaker teams overall, and went 6-0 in the Finals because he got knocked out in the first round or didn’t make the playoffs the other times.
@@niqowyd LeBron was too good too fast and too good at raising the floor of mediocre or even bad teams. That's why people have convinced themselves that somehow because some of those Cavs teams in his first stint had good records & numbers, they were good teams. No they were not. LeBron was just amazing at carrying mid teams in the regular season. Yes LeBron had deficiencies in his game that great defenses could exploit in the playoffs, but if they had an actually good team he would've still been able to win.
36/13/9 , even on 40% from the field is pretty mind boggling. And if you think that's inefficient, Jordan in 1996 finals had 27/5/4 on 42%, and he didn't have to play 1v4 every possession after game 2. Lebron was the MVP of that series hands down.
gsw's title in 2015 is probably the first basketball documentary I watched. basically Iguodala's transfer was like if Kobe Bryant gets into a new highschool team. Curry is just like kitten, and everyone is just developing. he's like the only adult there. so they give him Finals MVP.
I remember these games Warriors began setting up a 3-4 person wall to stop LeBron. Iggy gets credit for making him work but the Warriors were team guarding LeBron all series and Kyrie and Love were hurt so LeBron had no chance and still took them to 6
Because he was a veteran and X factor at that point. Iggy could save your team from choking a win 100%. He could do anything from anywhere and had very high IQ, very impredictable. He clearly saved the warriors more than once that year.
One stat to take into account is the assist/turnover ratio which was really good for Iggy (4:1) and really bad for Steph (4:3). Yes Steph handled the ball more but Iggy averaged 4 assists that series and was a great secondary ballhandler.
