    I struggled to understand Pi for years, and this video just fully unlocked it for me. You're such a good teacher

    I REALLY enjoyed watching this and learning. I Especially like the fact that you allow your student to show the power of the movement.
    Thank you.

    I believe you are one of the best xingyi exponents I have seen. I can only speak for xingyi, but it's evident you are highly skilled in taichi, bagua and other styles. Thank you for your videos!

    That was very nice instruction there and I do believe you are spot on. Splitting fist is designed to split the body and make an opening for your attack, hence simultaneous attack and defense. Break the form, over power, and destroy is what Xingyi is all about.

    Really enjoy these demonstrations because 1. We are given an explanation of the technique and theory behind them and even though I don't personally practice Xing Yi, I practice Tang Lang those same principles can still apply we may just have different terms. 2. Understanding the finer details is so important to learning martial arts, too often people just learn or imitate the movement without understanding the reasons behind it and so the movement is done superficially. 3. The person receiving these techniques is capable himself. Too often we see demonstrations on people with no martial skill and so there is no proper resistance. Sometimes people overreact and completely fall over or can't defend. This isn't 100 percent resistance but we are getting some response and from that you can learn and adapt.

    One of the best breakdowns of Pi Quan application and power I’ve seen. Should be recommended viewing.

    Can you do one like this for every of the five basic fists?

  • @wimplesaur

    Very good. No talking about Chi or other fluff, just straightforward body mechanics and natural reactions. Thank you.

      You can't ignore Chi.

    • @wimplesaur
      @wimplesaur 5 років тому

      You can of course ignore chi. Western athletes and martial arts don't consider chi at all and yet can perform at very high levels.

    • @liecrusher3506

      @@wimplesaur First of all, you have to understand that development of Chi, requires much practice in generating energy and power, at and below the navel.
      This does not however, preclude development of external energy and power.
      Actually, if one is dedicated to developing both internal and external "Chi", that person will reap great dividends, only to be appreciated, as they age.

    • @wimplesaur
      @wimplesaur 5 років тому

      Not only do you not have to understand it, you don't have to think about it at all. Like most activities in life, once we've learned a movement, we just do it with intention.

      Body mechanics and alignment isn't all of it.
      Chi is real,
      and even Tsutomu Oshima, shotokan karate master, developed it
      it unwittingly, without seeking it.
      It's real regardless of whether you want to imagine it's real or not.
      There is a 'ghost' in the machine or gears and fulcrums and levers.

    Pi can also be used as an attack not just a block, yeah? As they say, Best offense is Best Offense, in the end, you want to end it quickly.
