I believe in order to understand the significance of Acts 2:38 in relation to the gospel of salvation ,and Paul's view about it, we have to refer to Acts ch.19 and Paul's letters to the churches : 1) Paul also believed the same plan of salvation spoken of by Peter in Acts 2:38. The disciples had repented and been baptized by John. Upon Paul reminding them that John had said to believe on the one to come after him Jesus Christ , they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, by Paul, and when he layed hands on them they recieved the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence being speaking in " tongues". 2) All of Paul's letters were written to churches who he had founded. His letters always begin with, " To the saints of". These weren't evangelistic letters to win souls but further instructions to already born again saints. 3) Lastly, there is no basis scripturally that Paul varied from the plan of salvation that he taught in Acts ch.19 and Peter first preached in Acts ch.2:38. The believe so would be to say that there is one plan of salvation for jews and another for gentiles even today. This would be a violation of scripture.

Interesting that Paul practiced acts 2:38. If you read acts 19 versus one: six, you find it there. One Corinthians 6:11, 10 versus one: five, Romans, six versus 3:6, Colossians, two versus 11:12, Titus 3:5. When you repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you have peace with God, but then you need to go on to be baptized in his name, and filled with his spirit, as in the beginning. Act 2:38 is like death, burial and resurrection. If you really believe this gospel, you should obey it and not try to find scriptures to justify refusal to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, and filled with the Holy Ghost, act 2:4, 10 versus 44:46, 19 versus 1:5. in the New Testament, full, fledge, conversion was repentance, baptism, in the name of the Lord Jesus, Jesus Christ, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, act 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5, one Corinthians 6:11, John 3:5, Titus 3:5, Hebrews six verse one: three. Why not get the whole package deal and not just part of it? Obey act 2:38 the first opportunity you get.
Grace Ambassador, Peter did preach the gospel plan of salvation to the Jews before he answered their question in vs.37-38, read verses 23-24. The gospel is the D,B,R (1Cor.15:1-3). Before Jesus ascended He "opened" the minds of the apostles that they may understand the scriptures (Lk.24:44-47), and explained the gospel as he in informed them of everything that was needed to be fulfiled. For everything to be fulfilled Jesus was to suffer, he did on the cross, then he was to rise from the dead the third day, which he did triumphantly. But that wasn't the end, Jesus did his part, and as he continued preparing his apostles he said ""and" repentance and remission of sins shall be preached in his name AMONG ALL NATIONS beginning in Jerusalem" (vs.47). When Peter said the words "repent and be baptized...for the remission of sins" everything was fulfilled. When the apostles were baptized in the HS, one of the gifts were remembering everything the Lord had said to them. This same gospel plan of salvation is for both Jew and Gentile, as Jesus is not divided, neither is the gospel plan of salvation divided. Peter taught the same promise of salvation for the Jews is also for them that are "afar off" which is a referance to the Gentiles. When God "granted repentance to the Gentile nation" (Acts 11), the household of Cornelious were saved the exact same way as the 3000 on Pentecost, and that was when they heared the gospel and was baptized. The purpose of the baptism of the HS was never for forgiving sins, as when the apostles were baptized in the HS it was not to forgive their sins. The apostles were already forgiven under John's baptism (Mk..1:4). The HS falling (baptism) only occoured twice in the NT, first on the apostles, then not again until ten years later on the Gentiles, fulfiling Joels prophecy "all flesh." The reason the HS fell on the Gentiles at that moment before Peter told them how to obey the gospel was to convince the Jews God had granted them repentance unto life. Since Baptism can not be refused by any man, Peter commanded them to be baptized so that they could be saved (Acts 11:14). The church did begin on Pentecost, the apostles and the "prepared people of God" those who were baptized of John were translated into the kingdom of God when it dawned that morning. You read Acts 2:40 in this video, but you failed in reading the next verse. I wonder why. The next verse says those that gladly recieved Peters word to save themselves, were baptized: and the same day the Lord added to them about 3000 souls." The 3000 were added to the apostles and disciples who Jesus first put in the kingdom, which is the church. Do you remember when Jesus said to the pharissees "the harlots and tax collectors go into the kingdom of God before you" why? Because they believed John's messeage and submitted to Gods will by being baptized. Where they justified God, the pharissees rejected the counsel of God not being baptized, as you reject the counsel of God not accepting the baptism of Jesus to save you. It's not about water, but the obedience to be immersed in it.
What Jesus did in Luke was open their minds to understand, he didn't change the kingdom gospel that he gave them in Matthew 10:5..." which they had preached for three years. They just better understood what the prophets wrote. They had a performance based salvation too. They had to bring forth fruit. It was not based on Jesus death on the cross or his blood shed but belief in Jesus name, basically Jesus is the Messiah/King. Matthew 3:8, Also, John says, "Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repetence:" it a performance based salvation. Notice what Peter says in Acts 10:34-35, "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.". Notice "worketh". His fear and work are documented in Acts 10:1-2., "There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway." That giving was his work. He wasn't converted under grace only. That why the cross is only mentioned once outside of Paul's teachings. It's mentioned once in Hebrews but just as a fact of occurrence to reflect on Jesus' suffering but not as something significant for forgiveness of all sins. That why Jesus talks about enduring to the end and bring forth fruit that reflects getting salvation. His disciples had to perform obedience to the end. Under what Jesus, the apostles and Peter teach they never actually have salvation. It's something that will get or occur in the future when Jesus return for his kingdom and if they stay faithful to the end then they get it. Acts 3:19, Peter full of the holy spirit says, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord:". That why Hebrews 6:4-6, says what it says. Also, what Paul taught was not know by the prophets. Ephesians 3:9, "And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:". It was hid in God. Even Peter says in 2 Peter 3:15-16 about what Paul teaches the following, " And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."
@@tyronegooch5251 thanks for your reply, but please be a little more specific in what you are trying to say. Let me start with the first part of your reply. You said "he did not change the kingdom gospel that he gave them in Mt.10:5." Why you made that statement, I'm not sure. When you read Luke 24:44-47 understand this conversation between Jesus and his apostles were some time after the conversation he had with them in Matthew 10. The apostles were to preach the coming of the kingdom, which was soon to come, which happened on the first Pentecost after his resurrection. John the immerser was baptizing and making disciples as he also preached the kingdom is at hand, and both John and Jesus were baptizing "for forgiveness of sins" (Mk.1:4-5; Lk.3:3; Jn.4:1-2). Take a look at Mt. 21:31 and you will see that Jesus warns the chief priests and scribes "the harlots and tax collectors "GO" into the kingdom of God before you." They were offended at this, but Jesus explains to them why. It was because even the tax collectors and harlots believed John and submitted to his baptism, where these chief priests and elders even though they witnessed it, would not repent, and would not believe John. John's baptism was from heaven. According to Jesus, those who submitted to Johns baptism, Jesus promised would ""GO''" into the kingdom. Tyrone, no one goes into the kingdom unless their sins are forgiven, as Jesus explained to Nicodemus "unless a man is born of water (baptism) and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom" (Jn.3:5). So, for those who were born again by being baptized went into the kingdom when it came on Pentecost as promised by Jesus. There is proof of this in Acts 2. Belief and obedience is conjoined in scripture. When Jesus died on the cross is ultimately when their sins were forgiven, and when the "kingdom came with power" (Mk.9:1) on the day of Pentecost, Jesus translated them (the disciples and apostles) into the kingdom that very day. Yes it is true that John the immerser made people bring fruits of repentance before he would baptize them.
@@tyronegooch5251 as for the household of Cornelius (Acts 10-11), I also believe they were not saved when the HS fell on them. They were not saved until they were immersed in water (Acts 10:47). The purpose for HS baptism was never for forgiveness of sins, as proven when the apostles were baptized with the HS on the day of Pentecost. The apostles sins were forgiven when they submitted to Johns baptism. So the HS falling on the apostles and the household of Cornelius was for a different purpose, never for salvific purposes.
This is ridiculous. The same Paul, who taught justification by faith in Romans chapters, 3, four and five, also in Romans, six taught that water baptism in Jesus name is burying, the old man and identifying with the Lord Jesus Christ, versus 3:6, and teaches about the spirit of God dwelling within us, chapter 8. We do not have two gospels. The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, one Corinthians 15 versus one: four. Act 2:38 is how we should apply this gospel to our lives. I believe there is a difference between justification and regeneration. Justification is the act in which God credits righteousness to us through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5: one. But we are not to stop there, because that was given under the old covenant, except they looked forward to the cross, and we look backward. We also need to follow on to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus to be identified with him and close with him Romans six versus 3:6, Galatians 3:27, Colossians two versus 11:12, one Peter 3:21, Mark 16:16, John 3:5, act 16 versus 31:33. Why would anyone not to be baptized in his name, and filled with his spirit? Why not receive all that he has for us? Don’t let some religious icicle talk you out of everything God has. I pray that he opens your eyes to the full New Testament experience.
😳?Soooo...with the new covenant being in effect after Jesus’ d/b/r, Peter being filled with the HS, stood up on Pentecost and preached the old covenant way of “salvation”???🧐hmmmm? I’m thinking what’s happening here is due to not understanding that Pauls letters were explaining in more detail WHAT SALVATION IS to those who were ALREADY SAVED through obeying the gospel as exampled in the book of Acts. He WASN’T writing to them a new explanation of HOW TO be saved. 🤷♂️

No he was preaching the way of salvation that will he preached in tribulation and the 1000 year reign of Christ.
@@BrockJamesStory please elaborate why you believe that Peter(Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) would preach a way to be saved that had no relevance to his audience.
@@TheEmptyeye you gotta remember the kingdom was denied to Israel after they refused to accept their messiah and so salvation went to the gentiles. So Peter was preaching exactly the message for Israel’s salvation.
@@BrockJamesStory when was the kingdom denied to the Jews ?
And when was this rejection of the messiah that your speaking of ?
@@TheEmptyeye ACTS 28 speaks of the kingdom being denied to Israel and the rejection of messiah not Jews but Israel.
