The people who arrive at other stars will be the ones who've been living between stars. One settlement after another, one rock at a time, for thousands of years until eventually someone notices that they're now closer to a different star.

I say build your way out into the solar system. All the practicalities of living in deep space should be solved by the time you're in the Oort cloud and you're a good chunk of the way there. Baby steps.

For the purpose of safety, replace the pellets with charged particles that won't destroy the ship if the aim is off.

Maybe - you'll still have to have the same mass overall though, I would think. Although charge repulsion might do the trick if the ship is charged too - but that might take a lot of energy over the years. Could be feasible though, on the face of it, with a nuclear reactor/fusion engine on board.

If there was an alien ship 25 light years out; heading our way; we’d first get a radio message from the ship alerting us. Radio always arrives first.

If they use radio, yes. They could use muon beams though... or dark matter waves, or telepathy or something. And they might not be interested in communicating.

The extreme times, extreme distances, and extreme environmental hazards involved in interstellar travel should make the whole concept unappealing to any sensible human.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to abandon this world for a life of... well, probably drudgery and work... on a spaceship into the unknown but probably not pleasant. Unless they hate humanity and what to get away from us. Or unless they have some mania for exploring at any price, I suppose.

id rather invest time and intelligence looking for ways to exit this reality. This universe is subjected to an expiration date, perhaps former intelligent life figured this out and have moved on hence we don't see anyone.

We're probably still a long way from that, if it is indeed possible. Our science is still pretty basic, I think.

    Anti matter works better

Probably, but we lack the ability to make it in sufficient quantity (at the moment).
