It all sounds great for a plasma temple built, I wonder if there's a Mooji like legendary ship that was released recently that would fit that description?
There was a funny moment on their ten forward stream when Jonathan said something like "obviously this ship is all about plasma damage" while Kael was showing his "build" which was of course fully loaded with polaron when he usually doesn't even bother to change the default equipment. 😄
As a Zen Store ship it would've been an immediate buy for myself. I like the synergy between the console, trait, & plasma weaponry. I dislike this plasma focused being behind a steep paywall. A paywall (again) like when Cryptic made the only plasma set behind a lobi paywall whereas other energy types from missions. Cryptic has a deficient with parity within STO weapon types of quality & maybe more importantly of accessibility. I think Corrosive Plasma would've looked good on this Gorn ship, but I'm not going to gamble for it.
@@CasualSAB Hey Spence, the ship save loadouts is broken again, every time I change ships in space it is broken, previously saved loadouts wont change and I must reconfigure it every fff time?! Have you notice this?
Thank you for making this video. I'm doing a Ferrengi Negus build using plasma. I didn't think I'd be able to get the ship. About the sixth key...Ding! Got a T6 box.
Excellent breakdown of this ship. I have a Corrosive Plasma build on my L-Scimitar that can benfit from this package. I was gifted one and can't wait to add the trait and console to my plasma build.
I have a plasma CSV rom tac toon. If this ship turns out not to be insanely popular, I think I'll splurge on the exchange and get one - everything on it would boost my build, albeit I think I'd rather stick with the Hydra as the platform. If it goes way over 1B EC, I won't bother, especially as I mainly do advanced content. Thanks for the breakdown.
I think that trait works like the Ruin of Our Enemies trait - it just keeps on stacking as long as you're in combat, except this one stacks per firing cycle instead of per kill. So the DOT should get increasingly more deadly but you're right, probably useless with one-shot kills or anything less than elite content.
Its all well and good trying to buff up an energy type. It does fall on its face when the buffs are from a lockbox ship. A cstore ship would make it open to everyone in STO. Not just the 0.2% whom open lots of boxes regularly.
I swear the ship trait alone could probably get me to play with plasma weapons again (probably still have my romplaz beams from 2014, think it was around that year when upgrade system came out and nuked the R/D). Edit: CPF (Complex Plasma Fire) with Pride of Mol'Rihan (Kholhr tempbird) with APB already sounds nasty combined esp on the Legendary Valdore (since the Pride trait works on TempOp as well).
Great breakdown Spencer. honestly at this point I hardly bother to watch the shambolic mess of a live stream which is 10 forward and prefer to see your breakdown a few days later, a 100 times more professional and to the point. One thing I did notice that Jonathan said was when he mentioned proton weaponry, this makes me wonder if they are revisiting the T5 Dyson ships and their weaponry which never received any further love after being introduced to my knowledge, so T6 Dyson ships and buffs to proton on the horizon maybe?
I saw that ship on SNW and immediately said that I wanted it. Probably not enough to get it from the lockbox. But next event campaign maybe? I’d love to put my KDF recruit in it.
Ok, so if I'm understanding this trait, then that means plasma torpedo builds could use this as well since many torpedo boats use "Entwined Tactical Matrices" so FAW and SV are spammed constantly. The only thing I wonder about is if it's worth the trait slot in that scenario as many targets don't survive the kinetic impact to worry about the DoT.
Don't get the part about the console that says "on arrival they lure each enemy ship within 2.5km". Effectively that means ONLY the primary target will be lured unless they are in a gravity well. What kind of lure is that if the target is already there? Sometimes I question if Cryptic has an understanding of how far apart things usually are in the game. Just like with healing consoles which always have a 3-5km radius. Awesome for my pets which have a 20km active area.
I wonder if that trait boosts Plasma Torpedos and Mines as it says Plasma weapons which I would class those as plasma weapons. I hope that's not at typo and it really is Plasma weapons as that will be great on my Plasma Burn DoT build.
The new expurrimental weapon seems interesting for Plasma builds. But spending 600 million EC on this ship just for the better quads and the expurrimental weapon ... I dun know. I will prully wait for a Mudd's Bundle with this ship as part of the pack.
Also, I feel like that console is a trap in my best Ackbar voice. Within a couple of months of releasing it they are probably going to nerf it into the ground and stamp it with "Wasn't working as intended". And there it'll sit on the shelf of once great consoles next to old friends like the Plasmonic Leech.
Thanks for the description of the Gorn Raider. My Question is: you say Phaser and Disruptor builds are superior. I am using the Fleet Gagarin T6-X2 with 8 plasma isomags, cannons and beams mixed, several set bonusses including the altamid set, and the typical crit chance, severity consoles. In Elite TFOs, borg cubes take long to kill. Maybe this Gorn Trait would help. Do you have a video with a discription of an Elite Phaser or Disruptor build which is superior to any Plasma build? Does it make sense to switch to a Phaser or Disruptor build? I own all these Plasma weapons and consoles already. I would really like to know what I need to do to improve. Note: all I own in STO is earned from ingame activities, no real money was used.
Howdy, in elite level content the Gorn Hunter trait has made plasma very strong. In the time since this video I swapped over from Disruptor/Phaser builds to Plasma. This video I did covers where I was at with plasma by October of last year. ua-cam.com/video/kqhDaF4ujzg/v-deo.html So at this point I would keep with the plasma and get the Gorn Hunter. The trait and console will help your build out quite a bit.
I'm getting this ship! No matter what! - I'm a big big plasma user and this is right up my alley! I've never been excited by a ship like this. So many themed elements you can build around plasma. Yeah, time to work hard to get one!
Amusingly, the wiki doesn't even have the unraveled listing in it. Also, i seriously doubt that future event campaign will have this in it; I've had held onto a t6 premium ticket from last year, and its still missing shit.
The event campaign reward boxes do not update over time to include the new items. Whatever ships it has available in it when you first get it is all it will ever have. The 2024 Event Campaign VI will have all LB/Promo ships from before 2024 in it, so this will be an option there
good stuff Spencer. one thing, this ship will be pointless on console side as the one unique selling point the game has - taking images of your ships - doesn't really work as you can't remove the HUD and you can't zoom in. on small pilot ships it's totally not worth your time. (they still haven't worked out how to let us see the front of our characters on ground either)
WTH would you make a star trek ship spin with artificial gravity being a thing in universe ?. Also who was dumb enough to think that it should spin both ways for extra nausea inducing effects ? No wonder almost no one wants the ship.
@@CasualSAB Ah, I see. Well, if they insist on having it, give it a toggle to turn it off. They can't really drive the accuracy point home without us talking about how fast and loose they play with the scale of the ships. The La Sirena comes to mind.
Correction, the console clicky activates when you get close, not when the shuttle lands. I read that and still mistyped it :(
I just hate that it is in a Lockbox so it really doesn't help plasma for most people.
No problem it's not like anyone will care about the clicky it is not that good

Kael's Ten Forward builds being *ass* is a much better running gag than his typoes.

Yeah, I'm all for boosting other damage types, but locking behind a paywall sucks.

Also First ship to have a 2 5 consoles on each spec and only 1 console for the 3rd. Really making it specialized. Neat way to push power creep.

That'd be nice. I'd also love to see them add some tac consoles to the spire for some of these alternative damage types like proton, cold, fire, etc.
I saw that ship on SNW and immediately said that I wanted it. Probably not enough to get it from the lockbox. But next event campaign maybe? I’d love to put my KDF recruit in it.
They need to have a way to disable that spinning effect. Totally ruins the Courier ship. Almost unflyable.
I am reminded of that trait that gives ap damage dot while firing modes are active.....

Neat. First ship that could stack RRTW and ERL. *stack full RRTW, because anything less the total of the two would be less than just max RRTW alone.

2:13 "extremely cheap" shows 600 mil price ... man, you're in another world than I am
It’s a non star fleet ship, so I am game for it! I have the makings for a plasma build so let’s see what it can do for that
I wonder if that trait boosts Plasma Torpedos and Mines as it says Plasma weapons which I would class those as plasma weapons. I hope that's not at typo and it really is Plasma weapons as that will be great on my Plasma Burn DoT build.
So the [Lucky] modifier is on the quad cannons?
That plasma trait seems is combos with the Torment Engine.
The trait and the weapon sounds good when paired with emerald chain plasma along with the altmit set.
S again to make Plasma more viable is locked behind a paywall like Altamid set, they hate Plasma i think.
Finally a tactical Gorn vessel for Gornzilla!
The new expurrimental weapon seems interesting for Plasma builds. But spending 600 million EC on this ship just for the better quads and the expurrimental weapon ... I dun know. I will prully wait for a Mudd's Bundle with this ship as part of the pack.
I don't think someone sell it below 1 B. It is new and everyone wanna try it first.
@@nevzatcelik2758 Yeah, just in case it sells for the same price as the Purrier Pilot Raider did.

Forgot support ships.
oh lords. torment engine and scatter volley...
Although I'm not a fan of the spinning I'm glad they left it in to make it true to the ship in the episode.
Indeed. Just wish there was a way to disable it.
@@CasualSAB Maybe by changing something in the game files or textures, you can turn of ship impulse trails for example
I want everything but the ship itself. I'll get around to it.

This ship is for those who's targets last long enough for DOTs to make a difference.
