  • I got some keyboards for free! But... they're Azerty. I thought it would be fun to convert them to Qwerty. I'll show you how in this video.
I won't link to the stickers I used. Just search 'keyboard stickers' and you'll find even cheaper ones than the once I got.
Like the intro music? It's based on "The Rostrum" from the Wacky Wheels OST.
Want to send me stuff? My e-mail is in the channel description. :-)

Hey great video! I think I will do something simillar. KVM consoles are really expensive. But here in germany you can get used QWERTY versions much cheaper than used QWERTZ (german layout) versions.
I will convert a QWERTY version to the german QWERTZ layout 👍

Thanks! Converting one of those probably has more value than a keyboard one could buy new for €5 haha

We use Azerty in Belgium because we need to be able to type both dutch and french. I myself really hate typing french on Azerty, I much prefer the US International keyboard with dead keys. Getting a Qwerty keyboard in Belgium isn't that hard, I can just order it from The Netherlands.

Ah that makes sense. There are no Belgian Qwerty boards I guess?

@@ex-itguy Nope, Azerty is the standard here. Just weird people like me want Qwerty I guess.

I just skimmed through your video, but is there a reason you can't swap the actual keys, are there size and shape differences to prevent that?

I did swap some keys, but most are just wrong no matter their position. :)

when you're so broke you're putting stickers on your $5 keyboard to change it. I'm sitting here with an Apex Pro and the keycap set I have costs more than your whole keyboard!!! LOL

Haha, well to be honest I thought about buying a shortcut sticker sheet for Reaper (my DAW), but got served these and thought: "that could be fun"! 😆

Nooooo...... it's hurting my typing OCD LOL - The \ & | should be to the left of the z & that last key you stickered up should be the # & ~
Keyboard hunting is no fun, I run low light levels in the studio & need a keyboard with backlit letters which is yet another layer of things to check before purchase.

Hahaha, I tried it out on a Linux box and the key on the left of the z checks out so I left it like that.
I don't think these stickers are fun on backlit keyboards as you can't see through them. :)

I am happy that Poland after communism looked at United States as their model to imitate, so we also adopted US QWERTY (Polish programmer) instead of QWERTZ (Polish 214), based on German typewriters with replaced letters. It is so much easier to write letters ąę (...) with Alt Graph than separate buttons and having a weird layout because of that.
Boys, if you want to buy any keyboards, you can buy in Poland - we have standard QWERTY :D
