Gas strike orbital one shots the shielded ship factories, and I have no idea why. I found the crossbow and scorcher were amazing at both swarm clear and dealing with overseers (2 and 4 body shots respectively, clearing out overseers quickly became a priority). Shield generator relay and Tesla tower was amazing for zone defense objectives (used the gas to defend emplacements and destroy ships in 1 go).
And the game gives you a lot too, thank God. I’ve been getting 2-3 per mission. Not sure if that’s because the game doesn’t have much options for side objectives yet or to help us deal with reinforcement loops.
I know you've probably found it in testing but the conduit armors really cut down the Illuminate energy damage, even the Harvester's beam (and big time when they break out the tesla shot). The warp ships that they use as bases go out like a bot fab but you have to peel the shields off first; a 500 kg also does the trick in one go.
“I actually hope it is. I hope it’s a super scary thing.” YES!!!! This is the kinda commentary that keeps me subscribed. I don’t actually watch much at all. I mostly listen :D
I recommend the laser cannon, oddly enough. Light enough for use against swarms and overseers, and does a great job disabling the shields of ships and harvesters.
The only main one in the Illuminate faction with proper heavy armour is their dropships, even the harvesters can be destroyed with a regular medium-pen weapon if you hit the weak points. The main annoyances are how much the hordes swarm, and the flying squids. However, flame shotgun rounds seem to stun them as well as damage over time? One build I’ve tried is this - Heavy armour with new siege buff - Cookout for overseers - stun baton for zombies - Frag grenade (just in case you don’t have explosive strats at the ready for encampments) Strats: - Med machine gun - Supply pack - 500KG - Precision Strike - Stamina/Hellpod Optimser booster Another thing is I’ve realised (for defend assets missions) that the hordes and enemies can ONLY spawn if the ships land and spawn them in. Destroy the ships and you don’t have to worry about enemies. Aiming for the big circle on the underside will allow you to 1shot them with an Antitank I recommend for strats: - Anti-tank emplacement - Autocannon sentry - Rocket sentry - Antitank support weapon of your choice Edit: I almost forgot to add another thing I learnt! The crest on the top of a Harvester’s head is actually what generates their shield, destroy that and you don’t have to worry about it regenerating its shield again.
You can take out the ships in the outpost with the autocannon if you take down its shield first, then shoot into its open door. The shield is a pain to take down though; my current theory is that it doesn't have HP but instead just counts the number of hits, as the Sickle seemed to take it down pretty fast.
Correction on the 5:46 comment about destroying the outposts. You can shoot at the shields until they go down and fire a crossbow or nade into the entrance
Punisher plasma shotgun has been goated against the illuminate. I also bring the Gatling sentry for the vote less swarms, the laser cannon has been decent as well as long as you can keep your accuracy up, their heads do seem to be the weakspots.
for support weapons i enjoyed both the normal and heavy LMG with a support pack. They get rid of all shields easily and efficiently, and harvesters seem to have little to no armor on their eye weakspot so the heavy LMG especially deals with them fast enough. Support pack is always nice for teamplay, and you can basically spray down all lesser units without breaks.
Sickle has been nice for me. Infinite ammo and decent enough at dispatching the voteless. It can also take down building/harvester shields in one go without overheating. You definitely do need something else to bolster wave clear, but there are plenty of options there. Guard dog is fantastic since it aims for heads, as has the incendiary impact grenade for burning down hordes running at you. For the city some sentry seems like a must. Like the mg sentry myself, but seen a bunch of rocket/ac/gatling sentries too. Emplacement tends to gets overrun as you're often attacked from multiple sides. Car is.. fine, but I'm not wowed by it. Both the senator and the crossbow don't seem great. Senator not 1 tapping voteless anywhere makes it basically a no go as you burn through ammo quite fast with how many enemies you kill. Crossbow is tough against the watcher and elevated overseer, plus also tends to be a tad ammo hungry. Got a few 500-600 kills games without trying for it, and ammo was a big problem every time until I picked up the sickle. For secondary I settled on the grenade pistol for now, as you can bring down the warp ships with 1 shot in the door when shield is down. Only enemy I'm kinda struggling with is the harvester, mainly because I don't really bring anything for it. Having to chew through a shield before being able to dispatch it reliably with anti heavy weapons/strats makes me just prefer be full horde clear and let others break their teeth on them.
They definitely feel like a team-play enemy, each person brings certain weapons and strats to counter each enemy type. Someone to clear the voteless, a heavy to take out to harvesters and a couple of players to deal with the rest of the enemies
I've found that the guard dog is very good against these enemies, it often removes the heads of the voteless and fucks up the overseers very well. Its actually better than the liberator pen at it somehow. Most of the turrets are good. They are a quick way to blow apart a hoard and the next one that tries to flank you. the turret u sit in is probably the best for holding points. the standard eagle carpet bomb IDK what its called is amazing at clearing, you can get 30 kills in one, and you get 5 of em. lazer cannon is very good against nearly everything, but you will require someone with some anti tank if you want to kill the haversters with any speed. The weak point of the Elevated overseers is their jetpack. the voteless can be headshot. I think the harvesters arc gun you when ur too close tesla tower is amazing for holding a direction. it only dies to harvesters. best use, throw it into a city you will be coming back to later and let it cook. I think the vehicle is purposely stuck in the city and you can reload the heavy machine gun it has. Speaking of which heavy machine gun is quite good and stalwart is useless. Tried the fire shotguns. fire breaker sucks. Cookout is very good but really falls short on the non zombie enemies. It always had bad armor pen, so its comanders x10 and they don't get staggered as much as you would want. On the warp ships if you get rid of the sheilds of which you can do with any weapon, you can one shot it with an auto cannon in the open door, or any other explosive I think. Explosive pistol + emp for shields might be mint for blitz
I don t know if it hapoen in the video but i found out, if you shoot down the shields of thier ships, an explosive shot inside 1 of their open doors will blow it up
autocanon :3 both AT and flak, or recoilless seems to be a pretty good option too, i mean as long you keep a primary/ secondary able to easilly clear the voteless, its all about the biggies then
The saucer 'fabricator/nests' for the illuminate can be taken out like normal if you use a quick firing weapon to take out their shields then an explosive weapon/grenade up the ramp. It takes less than a full clip of the sickle to disrupt the shields.
I found that the eagle strafe is incredibly effective. The chaff comes at you in a straight line and the strafe has plenty of distance with a short call-in and 5 uses. Plus, while a bit inconsistent, it can one shot harvesters. Worth looking at more
You can clear outposts by shooting their shield first (Energy weapons don't seem to work, but any light pen seems fine) then nading or rocket launching them.
Purificator for zombies and squids, laser pistol for harvester shield, comando for harvesters and bigger objectives/threats. 500kg, orbital, shield pack. That’s my load out it performs very well
@@jjjtung If you want a really good all rounder support weapon; try the arc thrower. It pretty much handles everything illuminate side. It’ll continuously stun lock and tick away at the beefier enemies. It’ll stun and two tap drones, etc.. It can also infinitely hold a harvester hostage by shooting lol, so you can keep a tripod open and defenseless for your teammates to do stuff.
You actually can take down Illuminate outposts with the same means as Bot fabricators. But you need to make sure to take down the shields on the ships before putting explosives through the doors.
Arc thrower stuns the harvesters and keeps them locked down, and it absolutely annihilates squid drops. I use the arc thrower to stun the harvesters, throw a precision, swap back to arc thrower and keep it standing still so the precision hits it dead-on. I got like 700 kills last night on a 4 person level 10.
I played around using the Diligence Counter Sniper. Wasn't amazing, but it took out the flying Squids with two fast shots to the jetpack before they cound react. Only reliable if you can go prone and be behind them, but it does work. I have found the Blitzer does a decent job against hordes (although a guard dog helps) and stunlocks the bigger guys pretty well.
I've found that the gatling sentry is incredibly good at gunning down hordes of voteless and chewing the overseers up incredibly quickly. They also tear up harvester shields for you to follow up with your AT of choice.
Arc 12 Blitzer has been pretty good for me, it stuns both the overseers and cooks the voteless. As for stratagems, orbital precision strike and precision air strike/500 kg depending on what you want to kill more are all awesome, guard dog rover to help deal with voteless rushing you and then the heavy machine gun cause you can kill the harvesters with it. Secondary and grenade are kinda open but I love the impact for these guys.
good vid, i think those watcher drones that blind you are like mini observer-towers like the ones the bots have. i think youll be able to get a better visual on what i mean as new illuminate enemies are added to the game. i think the watcher drones dont just call back up, they actively call like special enemies on you
I went full arc trooper with the conduit armor, arc thrower and tesla. As long as you can hide the Tesla around cover to let the tripod get close enough, it gets turned into target practice.
The jetpack is the weakpoint on the overseer's. I was using the dilligence counter sniper and could blow up their packs in 2 shots. Not really reliable in a gunfight though.
I’ve been bringing Laser Cannon + Liberator Guard Dog. LC deals with Harvesters and Overseers easily while the Guard Dog excels against the Voteless and Overseers. As for my primary and secondary, I’ve been bringing the Eruptor for Outpost clear, swarm clear, oneshotting Harvester Shields (works most of the time) and picking off Overseers at a range, and the Loyalist to have a versatile secondary, with both burst DPS and aoe options
I've found the medium penatrating AR is actually pretty good against them-- wipes overseers quickly, handles swarms, and can even do a good chunk of damage to the wallers
Vote less is such a perfect name for the chaff. I love when franchises use different words than zombies, and vote less couldn't be used by any other franchise. Voteless
I've got really good results with the laser cannon. The harvester's shield aren't too hard to overload, the harvester itself has an armor 3 weakspot in the cannon and the heatsink buffs really shine against the hordes. The flamethrower might also work against harvesters, but IDK how to dodge their close-range zap.
I would highly recommend the arc. The illuminates absolutely FOLD to it , even the harvesters. Edit: For the warp ships I would recommend the eagle staffing run to take out the shields and the gernade pistol to finish them off.
I only like youtubers who always and liked helldivers from the start and always talk about it or always making content about dem. U are one of those people who always make content about helldivers so mad respect unlike those fake fan helldiver youtubers
For the info you can actually destroy illuminate outpost with grenade or explosive thing you just need to destroy the shield then you yeet some kind of explosion where there have a opening
You can destroy Outposts (Ships) by breaking the Energy Shield with any source of damage and then throwing grenades into the blue glowing door. Also works with heavy anti tank like RR or EAT. Some Grenades need two to blow them up.
Might be a lame strat, but I found that as I'm learning how to deal with these guys, a guard dog + a sentry is so clutch. Also 500 kilos and railcannons are necessary. May need to try the OPS as well. A gun to stun the shield and flying guys is kinda nice as well.
in helldivers 1, laser weapons were best for illuminates cause lasers would penetrate thru the shields, is that still the case in helldivers 2 ? if so, my baby the laser canon would go ham.
The higher the fire rate the quicker the shield breaks, lasers break it quicker than everything else, even laser pistol can take out harvester shield from far away
You can stagger and kill harvesters with impacts. The thermites don't seem to stick to the harvesters. You can get them to stick, but it's really hard.
Havent had a chance to play this yet due to work but from the gameplay it looks like the autocannon or the sniper would do bits against this faction, maybe even the commando to help with the titan-class enemies shields?
Been running a loadoit that i liked its strafing run, machine gun sentry, shield generator pack, quasar cannon To destroy an outpost u use the strafing run to destroy the shields then quasar in the door and it one shots it
It seems the commando is kinda good since you can fire 4 shots fast. So 1 pop the shield and the second hit. Also I'm feeling that weapons with high ammo are better. You can shot the shield to pop and then use something to destroy it
You can destroy their warp ships with autocannon, it will require taking out there their forcefield and then blasting the hatch with something explosive

You actually can take down Illuminate outposts with the same means as Bot fabricators. But you need to make sure to take down the shields on the ships before putting explosives through the doors.
Takibo is the legend itself, the bugs cooker, the bots shredder, and now, the squids smasher, our favorite helldiver!!!
Arc thrower stuns the harvesters and keeps them locked down, and it absolutely annihilates squid drops. I use the arc thrower to stun the harvesters, throw a precision, swap
back to arc thrower and keep it standing still so the precision hits it dead-on. I got like 700 kills last night on a 4 person level 10.
I didnt even try arc weapons because i saw them walk past their own arrc towers so i assumed they are immune to it?
@ it has a hard time stripping the physical armor but once it does, it kills the overseers in one shot. But they are far from
Immune to it mane
A SPEAR?, the gods have heard my words, praise the spear, Spear, O Spear.
Guys, suggest me a good loadout for the Illuminates. I'm really confused on what to bring right now.
I was wondering when they would come out!
the last 3 min of this video is peak content.
You mean the black void of nothingness?🤣 cause that’s all I’m seein
Tip, not sure if it’s a glitch or meant to be but you can throw grenades thru the Tripods shield. Which is very interesting
If you like crossbow, you'll definitely enjoy the new armor, tak.
I bring the medium armour pen sniper, primary to deal with those drones, allows me to almost always kill them before they call in a drop.
The jetpack dudes blow up instantly with an amr round to the back, too.
good vid, i think those watcher drones that blind you are like mini observer-towers like the ones the bots have. i think youll be able to get a better visual on what i mean as new illuminate enemies are added to the game. i think the watcher drones dont just call back up, they actively call like special enemies on you
This update was amazing! It was so fun to have an entirely new experience
In my experience, the Arc Thrower does great against every unit they throw at you, it can even stunlock tripods
Voteless
Machine gun against overseers has been doing great for me. Just shot for the body it appears it has less armor there.
WHATS UP LEGEND!
I would highly recommend the arc. The illuminates absolutely FOLD to it , even the harvesters.
Edit: For the warp ships I would recommend the eagle staffing run to take out the shields and the gernade pistol to finish them off.
Hello, love these videos, i heard flying overseers have weak spot on theirs jetpacks
The cars have really funny physics right now. The new stun baton can just kinda throw them around the map like its nothing
Crossbow?!
jump pack is really useful, you can just stay on buildings all the time and be a true ninja-rat
:o i have to try this out
I only like youtubers who always and liked helldivers from the start and always talk about it or always making content about dem. U are one of those people who always make content about helldivers so mad respect unlike those fake fan helldiver youtubers
This felt like I'm watching a horror movie 😱
After this attack, I bet the squid’s were like “Now we remember why we lost the first galactic war”
Keep in mind that's only a recon force, because later... It will be straight different when all of their invasion force will be here
Felt like a brand new game. Top setup to try (trust me. It’s insane)
Armor: democracy protects passive
Weapons: blitzer / bushwhacker / incendiary impact
Strats: autocannon sentry, 500kg, orbital laser, rover
At 22:00 can you drive that vehicle with the machine gun?
Yup
I kinda liked the sickle impact grenades for the ships and then a support weapon for the tripods
3:50 The placebo for takibo lol
During the “Hold Down The Fort” mission. My team was getting our asses handed to us, on LVL 6!!! It’s the only time I didn’t win those missions.
The AR-23 guard dog puts in work against illuminate, and can one shot all infantry.
Is it me or did they do something to the animations? Everything looks oddly cartoony for some reason.
For the info you can actually destroy illuminate outpost with grenade or explosive thing you just need to destroy the shield then you yeet some kind of explosion where there have a opening
The Blitzer is really good at killing zombies
You can destroy Outposts (Ships) by breaking the Energy Shield with any source of damage and then throwing grenades into the blue glowing door. Also works with heavy anti tank like RR or EAT.
Some Grenades need two to blow them up.
I'll have to try that again then since for me grenades didn't do anything when thrown into the door.
@k3salieri sometimes it works sometimes it just doesn't for no reason
The machine gun would break the shield of their bases and one crossbow bolt in the front door would blow it up.
Havent had a chance to play this yet due to work but from the gameplay it looks like the autocannon or the sniper would do bits against this faction, maybe even the commando to help with the titan-class enemies shields?
This video had Hordes of alien zombies and hordes of ad rolls.
Been running a loadoit that i liked its strafing run, machine gun sentry, shield generator pack, quasar cannon
To destroy an outpost u use the strafing run to destroy the shields then quasar in the door and it one shots it
wait until striders, illusionists and great eye arrives
That 500 was insane
The tesla tower goes hard on this faction
Illuminate AND new warbond.....xmas really has come early
If I’m being honest, walking barrages are really good for clearing Command Bunkers from farther away
It seems the commando is kinda good since you can fire 4 shots fast. So 1 pop the shield and the second hit.
Also I'm feeling that weapons with high ammo are better. You can shot the shield to pop and then use something to destroy it
My teammates took down the shield and I pop them in the face with the Recoilless
Now this is EDF-like, I will be only playing illuminate from now on
You can destroy their warp ships with autocannon, it will require taking out there their forcefield and then blasting the hatch with something explosive
