I love how autobalance only comes up when the idiotic teamates get kicked and the tryhards join, along when how youre mostly trying the hardest you have in the match, and you just get sent to the other team, invalidating all the work
I had a match as a Medic in Badwater Basin. My team was just perfect in every way: they protected me, I healed them and we managed to push back the enemy team without letting them get to a single checkpoint. Believe it or not, I somehow managed to reach top score and I even had more kills than deaths under my belt, AS A MEDIC! IT WAS GLORIOUS!!! So of course the next round, when it was our turn to attack, I got autobalanced to the other team during the 60 seconds of prep time, right after making sure my charge was full and all of my teammates were overhealed. I then had not enough time to get another one ready, since the match had already started and my entire team (me included) was curbstomped so hard that I just ragequit 2 minutes in. There are no words, in any language, that would accurately describe how deeply I *despise* this game's f*cking autobalance system. Who the hell thought that a single player being switched in a team that's already being destroyed would make a single difference to "balance things out"?!
Bind “key” retry Then when it said autobalance in 5 seconds, press your retry key and someone who is not good enough at the game to know console commands will be the victim. You will still have to rebuild uber however.

A few people left my team, and I fulfilled my sacred duty as a spy and back stabbed the sniper while he had team mates all around him... he got auto-balanced to our team. I may not had anywhere close to top score that round due to constant attempts to kill that sniper, but removing him permanently from enemy team has to count for something.
idk why, but when I'm top-scoring the entire server and my team is winning by a mile, I always get auto-balanced... and somehow clutch the game back for my new teammates... bruh

Reminds me of a time in PG3D, I was playing red and doing pretty well until autobalance switched me to blue, I then managed to get back to winning with a decent margin over the other team, *and then autobalance flipped me back to red with less than a minute left on the timer* Safe to say, I was somewhat irritated

In the old days... autobalance could have happened mid action. You were having fun with a friend, nearly winning the game and then: "AUTOBALANCE!" These days you gotta die or the round has to change... but nothing was more infuriating then being autobalanced 10 seconds before a win.
I befriended a a pyro that was in my team, and we would do dances together. But, of course the system said I had to switch teams. And I never saw that pyro again. I left in tears
(iirc this was only possible with the old manual client side connection before the match making queue): the absolute worst was when you were trying to get in on the other team all game but it was full, and then you finally get on, only for auto balance to kick you back over for a loss that happens while you're respawning.

Autobalance should have a minimum game time block. For example if the remaining time in the round is less than 2 minutes then it won't do anything unless the game time gets extended
It's funny. A couple years ago people were complaining about auto balance too and Valve removed it. This make it so that the losing team pretty often have absolutely no fighting chance, however. So people were begging for Valve to bring it back and they did, but now people complaining about the same thing.
I feel like the two big reasons for the complaints are that they removed manual balance from the game as well, meaning people can’t choose to change teams on their own as imbalances happen, and that auto balance has a habit of going off right before the game ends, meaning you could be the reason your team wins, but you lose because you’re not on that team anymore.

You could go from destroying an entire server and topscoring, to getting destroyed and spawncamped.
One time I got Auto Balanced to the loosing team seconds before we won, and this perfectly shows how I felt.
