He got hurt worse against whittaker and they let it go the entire round. He basically crucified vettori and the referee didn’t even flinch while jared almost killed Marvin

He was definitely on his way to getting knocked the f out.. but ref should have waited until he feel to a knee or was starting to fall over.. he was standing the whole time trying to defend.. shouldn’t hVe stopped it. He 100% could have recovered and kept fighting..
@@nickscarla-tl9xp Ridiculous stoppage. What more can you do? Hands up guarding on the fence, being offensive (Jared had the last clean shot of the match.), rolling with the punches. If he would have gone for a take down then the ref can use that as an excuse to stop the fight because they mistake the shot for being knocked down. If you have a biased Ref you better never get hurt, rocked, slip on a banana or anything or you're screwed.
He didn't even enforce the fingers in his eyes the entire fight. So bad, he yanked out Jared mouthpiece.

That was a lousy stoppage, especially given what was at stake (Jared is 40, and opportunity becomes scarce at this career stage). The least Jason Herzog (the ref) must do is apologize. I wish Jared would get the chance to rematch or at least move forward with a fight in the top 5. Stay strong, Jared, and blessings. Peace.

@@shatchett0 It was an early stoppage, but body language when hurt is what sets off the refs and he looked very tired and then got cracked and turned and started running away, from the refs point of view he acted like a guy who needed to be saved. You cant do that in MMA, this is not boxing.

Ariel is right. The lack of accountability that these judges and referees have is appalling and it ruins the night for the fighter, the opponent, the audience and the fans watching at home. Not to mention the fact that it is a terrible look for the sport. It needs to change
My heart goes out to this man and his family. I pray for them and the loss of their child. This man is a legend for even taking the fight after all of that. I hope the UFC will look out for him with a financial compensation plus the rematch. I always knew who he was great fighter but I am a huge fan of his now after this. Win or lose you’re a true warrior and I wish you all the best Jared!

No the last shot was a left hook that hit Jared's hand in a high guard that did nothing atleast let him get dropped
Terrible he had to deal with this stoppage after going through a miscarriage. God bless Jared and his wife. He deserved to have gone out or come back. The UFC should really compensate him for this. Give him a win bonus or something to help out
My first mma loss came to Brain Devaney due to early stoppage in 2008 summer fist series Orange County fair guess who get ref was Jason herzog. But he’s a good dude we talked about it and he refed my second fight as well

i dont think herzog was wrong to stop the fight. just picked the worst time possible to stop it. it looked like he got wobbled twice in that sequence. after the second wobble was a solid time to stop it. not after he strikes back.

Cannonier got absolutely robbed. Don’t forget he beat Strickland and Vetori and could’ve easily been fighting for the title. Hope Dana can right this wrong and give him a great opportunity in his next fight.

Robbed of what, exactly? The opportunity to get finished in an even more decisive fashion? There was very little chance of him making it out of that round, much less winning the fight. It might have been a slightly early stoppage by UFC standards but far from the gross injustice it’s being made out to be.

This stoppage is literally the mma equivalent of the Rolly vs Barroso stoppage. Herzog was drunk with this one.

Jared is right about herzogs response, "it took everyone yelling at me i was wrong to look in the mirror and see that" terrible example of taking accountability. Ariel and Jared are 100% correct the careers and livelihoods of these fighters are in the hands of these judges and refs that never see the repercussions for negligence in their positions. Compare Jason's tweet to Herb Dean's stoppage with Lawler. Herb explained "this is what i saw and believed, it wasnt the case so I apologized to Robbie and am trying to do better every fight" instead of acting like people should just shrug it off.

For the newbies, Jason Herzog is a stone cold professional. Dude never fumbles.
Was it early? Yes. But Canonier was on the chicken dance for a while and was getting kicked and punched. There were 11 unanswered shots.
Just for the sake of correct information, go back and watch the slo-mo replay of that sequence, because hardly any of the follow up strikes landed cleanly, and Cannonier actually had the last good shot of the fight with a counter right just before the ref stepped in.

@@sanatsrivastava2814 I get your perspective, but I just don’t think fights should be stopped because someone gets rocked/hurt, and here’s why:
-Cannonier potentially lost 6 figures in $ (win bonus), had he recovered and went on to win round 5
-Cannonier is durable and has recovered from being rocked badly to being back in the fight before (against Vettori, Whittaker etc.)
-Cannonier is 40, and this loss virtually guarantees that he won’t make it back for a title shot, thus negatively impacting his career
Also the Poirier and Gaethje 2 knockout seems like a weird example, because Gaethje’s shin clearly connected with Poiriers skull (from behind Poiriers guard). Comparing a headkick to the skull, with glancing shots that were partially blocked by Cannonier is disingenuous.
i thought it was super close fight and cannonier was slowing down so i wouldn’t say he was winning the fight clearly but the stoppage was bad but he was badly hurt who knows another 30 secs he might of went out flat

Herzog had a bad night but so did Jared. In no world was he getting his hand raised.

I understand that Cannonier may be frustrated with the result. But why would Nassour accept a rematch? His next fight should rather be Strickland, Vettori, Allen or the loser from the match Whittaker/Chimaev.
He prob won't accept it, but that is not a good looking win, and will always be shrouded in controversy
Oh one of his next fights will be people Cannonier beat, but not a rematch? Makes sense.
Because there's no one else higher ranked available right now and Sean is sitting out until a TS, not to mention he already beat Imavov. If the UFC re-books Vettori vs Allen then Imavov has no choice but to fight Jared again if he wants to fight another time before the end of the year.
I agree it was an early stoppage very unfair fro the referee, but also i think Jared wasnt in great shape in this fight even his muscles looked smaller than his previous fights maybe the injury and being out of the octagon for a longtime, he needs to get back in shape like when he was against Vittori.

I wouldn’t mind Cannonier vs Hermannson either tbh. More of a favorable matchup for him, and I think Hacks still coming off that fraud check win over Joe Pyfer. Costa would definitely be better and more marketable, but if they tryna give him a toss up Jack would be nice.

i dont like rematches but i this one deserves one. Cannonier still got that W againts Sean (even tho its was super close and many think Sean won) and he absolutely pieced up Vettori. I was so surprised that fight didn't get stopped. and he still complied to fight below him.

Even if he was going to get flatlined, let it happen. Therefore, there would be no controversy. The fighters know what they're getting themselves into and would rather die than have an early stoppage, and I respect them for that.
If this fight went on for Even 10 more seconds, cannonier would have been fully unconscious
As a fan from the 2000's and 2010's it's wild watching some of these new fights. Back in those days there wasn't a stoppage until you were a limp ragdoll on the ground. And even then you ate a few before the ref came in. I understand the concerns with concussions and CTE and genuine fighter safety but at the same time...-...this is combat sports. These guys sign the dotted line. Watching a lot of newer fights I'm seeing routine early stoppages, notably refs saying people are " out on their feet " , and basically saying a fighter is unconscious and unable to defend themselves even when they are still standing with their hands in a defensive posture. Seems like now if you get rocked or get wobbly they just stop it. Pretty lame if you ask me.

The ref called the fight seconds after the ring side announcer yells !"He's out on his feet!!". When guys are out on their feet they aren't trying to get away. Plus it's easy money for the refs. Check their lifestyle.
Before the fight the referee came to see Imavov in the cloakrooms and told him situations when he would stop the fight. He made it clear the fighters could NOT TURN THEIR BACK to their opponent.
Cannonier turned his back 3 times in the 4th round. I must admit Cannonier is a decent gentleman. Hope he will get his revenge.

It was an early stoppage by Jason no question about it. It’s a fight they know the risks involved and I’m sure the fighters would rather the ref be a little late than early every time they step in there

Being there in person the least I can say is Jared wasn’t knocked down and was still able to continue fighting, Imavovs’ last 3 strikes landed on Jared’s gaurd, he could’ve easily came back. cmon terrible stoppage.
