  • Bonus day, December paddle in my new Eddyline Skylark. What do I think? Watch and find out... along with a few other cool happenings on the Schuykill River! Thanks to ‪@keystonelandandsea6067‬ for setting me up with this great boat!

Thanks Bert, so nice to see you discovered the Skylark, it’s best seller among the Eddyline boats. The Equinox is the 14’ version with same cockpit size and features. I love my Skylark and it’s amazing how rare it is to ever find one for sale used, people rarely get rid of them. It’s such a stable and forgiving boat, and will fit a wide range of people too. For a 12 footer, the tracking, speed and edging/turning performance just blows away all of the big box store recreational kayaks. If these were more widely available and more folks were able to try them, they would never go back to those other kayaks. I have a couple polyethylene boats I like for floating the faster Ozark rivers with rock and gravel impact hazards (as you know thermoformed boats not best choice for that), but for most everything else, I will never get rid of my Skylark - it’s surprisingly stable even in some bigger waves on lakes too. Among my fleet of kayaks, I also often select this boat for winter paddling because of how easy it is to enter and exit while wearing the extra gear (semi-dry suit, etc). My only suggestion for you is, find a good fast standing wave somewhere shortly upstream of a river access, and go kayak surfing - this boat is really great for that! Have fun!

Thanks for the advice Barry! I have a nice wave near me but I think I might wait until spring to try that out in my Skylark! A trip to the Ozarks is on my bucket list!

Thanks Steve! I've been looking at Eddyline for quite some time and it was just a matter of deciding which boat made the most sense for me.

Good to see you. Hope you've been well. I'm interested in learning to use a hardshell and Eddyline was already the boat of choice. Thanks for the demo.

Thanks Rob! I made the leap without a demo, but after this first paddle there are no regrets!

Its good to see you again since your last video I moved to South Carolina Myrtle Beach.
I do miss the Delaware valley in the summertime but not in the winter.
I hope you make more videos how happy holidays to you and your family be healthy.

So why did you switch back ?? Are you still going to be using your Sea Eagles ?? Thanks.

Honestly, I just feel like my paddling has evolved and I simply wasn't satisfied with the performance of inflatable. The razorlite is a great boat if you are really concerned about storage and portability, but those aren't concerns for me so I've chosen to get a boat that I believe will just paddle more efficiently. I will still certainly be using my Sea Eagle Explorers. The 300X is my whitewater boat and the 380X will still be a great choice for extended multi day paddles on rivers with moving water where I don't want to take the Eddyline.
