Go watch the Saints Rams championship game (yes, the one with that bad call), but loudest game you'll ever see. Goff can't hear his coach, and they are going off hand signals. I don't know how many other QB's in the league win that game. He has some physical limitations as a tall lankey guy, but he is resilient, mentally tough guy. Also, Brees threw 2 picks after that bad call so really can't say that was why they lost. If your QB gets 2 more chances with the ball and throws a pick each time, that is why you lost.

Since his time with the Lions he's evolved so far away from that and matured immensely. I still can't believe based on how much I love him now that I used to dislike him so much.
Of everyone who got payed, Goff is the standout guy who's earning it. This transformation from being a guy who you worry about throwing multiple interceptions per game, to a the guy other offenses are trying emulate is unreal.
Turns out, when a veteran QB is given control of his protections and audible packages while standing behind his center, they tend to do a lot better than when a coach is doing it from the sideline.
More like Goff initially was afraid of offending his coach, to keep team harmony but the coaches in Detroit have repeatedly informed him that they delegate authority until/unless he proves that they should micromanage him.
@independentaquaman7424 He barely calls audibles. Most of the offense is set up through the OC. Most of the plays are called beforehand. Actually, if you want to see what happens when Goff audibles more, look at his last game. Thank God our defense is as good as it is.
The thing about Goff that won’t show up in the stats, he almost always gets the team into the right play call or protection. He’s might be the best QB in the league at reading a defense before the snap.
Watch Goff’s eyes. He doesn’t even pay any mind to the pass rush. A guy could be a millimeter away from tearing his head off and his eyes are still locked downfield looking for a play. You can tell he’s got confidence in his protection. The coaches giving him full control of calling audibles or changing protection definitely doesn’t hurt either.
Simple observation; there comes a point where the game starts to slow down for ANY QB, and they start being able to exploit pressure, especially from blitzes. You're seeing something similar with Sam Darnold in Minnesota. It's a matter of surviving in the league long enough to reach the point where you've seen pretty much everything NFL defenses will throw at you.
Goff isn’t doing anything fancy. It’s just that Goff has been playing so much that things have gotten easier and has slowed down for him that he’s used to it. It seems that some people still have a problem realizing that Goff has turned into an elite QB this year. His stats (with the exception of completion percentage) aren't gaudy so people who don't watch the games have a hard time understanding just how good he's been. He's so efficient that he doesn't need to throw for 400 yards and 3 TDs to win games. The Lions offense as whole is absolutely lethal because of the Goff has been playing.
Love that play you pointed out where Penei took out the outside man then used the momentum pushing off of him to block the second guy as well. Awesome overall breakdown
Part of it has to do with the line. Blitz is the only way to get pressure against the Lions o-line. It doesn't seem like the blitz is working, but I don't know what else they're supposed to do
Here's the thing. The thinking is "Goff under pressure". He's fine under pressure as long as he gets the ball away. He's just not very good at avoiding sacks. But he doesn't throw many INTs under pressure, instead usually making the other team pay dearly for blitzing him.
Goff was never a bust, but he's certainly raised himself up into the elite level. I think Goff is another qb who teaches the lesson Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and even Joe Flacco and Jordan Love, to some extent: playing qb for an nfl team is really hard, and almost always takes years to master. I don't know if that will make teams more patient with young qbs, but surely it should make teams willing to give former "busts" a second chance, sspecially if they can do so on the cheap. Or qbs that were drafted by the Jets, Browns, or Panthers and been labeled "busts" anyway. And here's hoping Darnold gets to make some noise in the playoffs, and gets a fat contract with whatever team he lands with next year. He's clearly good enough to start, provided he's got some help with receivers, a running game, good offensive line, and/or defense. But every qb needs at least some of those things to excel.
Hmmm I know I only watched this yesterday, but this video is not aging well as of tonight’s game against the Texans. It’s only the 3rd quarter as of this writing.
I was not a fan of the trade. especially after Stafford won the super bowl the first year after. Goff has more than proved himself. it's to the point now I don't think there's another qb in the league that can do what he's doing in Detroit
Funny thing about the trade is that even though the Rams got the SB win, that is all that Stafford done for LA. The success that Goff has brought to the Lions is beyond anything Stafford had been able to do in a decade on the team. A win tomorrow night will be the best starting record since 1953. A SB win and continued success for seasons after would make that trade a wash all in favor for Detroit.
no, I don’t know about this because when I see the blitz coming, he obviously does not because he’s taken 10 yards sacks and a lot of times it’s a sack fumble. I didn’t forget about that 20 yard sack for the Cowboys and the on the first play of the game I watch every single game and I have to hold my breath because I don’t know if he can complete a pass further han 10 yards without it looking like it’s gonna be intercepted there’s a reason why there’s so many players that was returned for the Lions because of how good Matthew Stafford was, he can throw in the smallest window imaginable. Jared Goff does not have that you cannot win with him just throwing the ball. why do you think it’s a run heavy team compared to everybody else the strength is not with his arm
The true fact is that this is not the best Jared Goff has played in his career. In 2018 he was lights out, with an offense that scored 30+ points in almost every game. He was throwing down the field on ropes to his receivers game after game, but now is playing more reserved and taking what the other team is giving him and being good at protecting the ball. I don't think that Jamo has the personality traits to be the deep ball receiver Goff needs to combine the two playing styles to really dominate teams.
Just goes to show what happens when you play behind one of the best O-Lines in the game. they have given him the time he needs to remember that he was once a number 1 draft pick
It all starts with the Offensive line. From the Redskins Hogs to today’s Lions O-Lion. It starts there. They can push the D on runs , and, hold the line in the air game.
Since I'm reasonably-confident Johnson's gone after this season, I can only hope he somehow gets fired as head coach from somewhere, then comes back to Detroit as permanent OC. Which is sad, sure, but he's a hyper-elite OC, so like...I wanna keep him ._.
I think Johnson is going to be very selective with where he goes. The Bears having Caleb Williams for him to mold makes the job somewhat attractive but the team's front office is very mediocre and has been for a looooong time. Of the teams you mentioned I think he'd find the Eagles position most intriguing. Jaylen Hurts is a talented young QB Johnson can coach up and Howie Roseman is a very good GM. But who knows? Even if the Lions win the Super Bowl this year he might run it back just because he's got such a good thing going. It's not just Goff; it seems like every player in that offense is absolutely perfect for what he wants to do. Maybe he wants to ride this wave for awhile.
10 years from now it'll be so obvious to the world that the Lions flat-out won this trade, along with "Stafford finally winning a ring" being LA being gifted a ring with the most overrated starting QB of all time, legitimately gives Jay Cutler a run for his money in terms of worst multi-year starting QB in NFC North history.
Okay but how often is he *pressured* as opposed to just being blitzed? Most of these clips are just the Lions having fucking awesome protection from that offensive line. A ton of these look like what could be defined as ‘clean pockets’ and NFL QBs are really good from clean pockets.
In most games you’re right, he throws from clean pockets all day. But a couple games, especially the Vikings game he was pressured a lot and still threw the ball at an elite level. But I think your point stands, he’s not asked to play like that in a lot of games. But this season when he’s needed to he’s been able to step and and take care of it.
As a Detroiter I feel it's my duty to remind the league: not only is Ben Johnson a chronic puppy kicker, but he was also the last one seen with Epstein alive.
He also said he hates every single state not named Michigan and said he would purposely tank any team he joins just to get a paycheck he's really a terrible guy and all other teams should forget about him
I know this is a joke but in all seriousness he very easily could have left last year. Same with Aaron. But he came out and said there’s unfinished business and he couldn’t sleep after the nfc championship loss. Also heard him say he’s been with this team and helped build it up from a few years ago when we were still bottom of the barrel and didn’t seem like he really wanted to go do that for another team since anyone hiring a new coach is usually a bad team. Not very many good teams firing their coach lol so I don’t see him leaving unless we win the Super Bowl or if it still doesn’t happen in a few years maybe he’s done and looking to move into a bigger role. I just find it hilarious that bears fans think eberflus is going to get fired mid season and Ben is going to take over 😂
I know a lot of teams believe that for Goof the be effective he needs time in the pocket and everything has to be perfect for him. The lions coaching staff but in the case the Offensive Coordinator is a thinking strategic person and a student of the game and puts an exceptional amount of time into it. Not everyone is as strategic and thinking and strives for perfection as he and the other coaches do and that is what makes this team dangerous. They will fix their issues.
It's certainly a possibility but far from inevitable. The Super Bowl is obviously always compelling but Chiefs/Lions would be especially so. A team going for the first 3-peat against a team trying to end decades of futility? That would be awesome.
@@christopherauger4258 people will literally do anything to give Goff his flowers. Dude throws a perfect game this year and it barely gets any media attention.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
watching this after jared threw 5 picks 😂
and still won 🤣🤣
He looks like he's done it all before. Hopefully the lions have found their guy to go the distance. Great vid as always.
From LA, keep BALLIN Goff! 🫡
This team honestly reminds me of the Colts teams with Manning and Wayne
Brady mentioned that as well.
Great analysis!
Halfway through the Texans game… what happened?
Hmm
I was not a fan of the trade. especially after Stafford won the super bowl the first year after. Goff has more than proved himself. it's to the point now I don't think there's another qb in the league that can do what he's doing in Detroit
Funny thing about the trade is that even though the Rams got the SB win, that is all that Stafford done for LA. The success that Goff has brought to the Lions is beyond anything Stafford had been able to do in a decade on the team. A win tomorrow night will be the best starting record since 1953. A SB win and continued success for seasons after would make that trade a wash all in favor for Detroit.
Goff is playing ELITE ball vs the Texans atm. 5 picks......lmao.
who won?
0:01 taking a moment to appreciate detroits jerseys and helmets 🤩
no, I don’t know about this because when I see the blitz coming, he obviously does not because he’s taken 10 yards sacks and a lot of times it’s a sack fumble.
The offensive line is *ridiculous* . And point is, like...what else are you going to do? Cover the pass OH WAIT WE'RE GOING TO RUN IT **** YOU BRO
many of the blitzes on playaction are run blitzes, they aren't made for qb pressure
Teams have to blitz due to the success of our online and Goff and our backfield going crazy if the defense sits back
The best line in football!
Goff will crush the blitz with screen passes and quick slants with St Brown.
No one beats Goff.
Because most of the time the Lions oline recognizes the blitz pre snap and picks it up.
Or he sees it and adjusts his protection accordingly. Him and ragnow see it all
@joshlewis575 I'm sure it's a little bit of both.
Man, I hope Ben Johnson goes to the Bears... But there are so many teams he could go to: Bengals, Eagles, Jags & more
I think Johnson is going to be very selective with where he goes.
Well the pass rushers have to get near him to be able to pressure him. If that's not happening then there's little to no pressure.
He also said he hates every single state not named Michigan and said he would purposely tank any team he joins just to get a paycheck he's really a terrible guy and all other teams should forget about him
As a Jag's fan he could literally be apart of the n*zi party and the KKK and I wouldn't care
love it❤
I know this is a joke but in all seriousness he very easily could have left last year. I just find it hilarious that bears fans think eberflus is going to get fired mid season and Ben is going to take over 😂
I've heard he's Holocaust denier too.
Attention to detail for the (literal) win.
Considering Nico Collins is on IR, I'm gonna say that bet doesn't hit
Detroit rebuilt Goff and he is eating teams up
Damn 1000 views in 1 hour? Fell off

Don't share our secrets 😂
penei sewell is so damn good
Blitzing Jared Goff is actually hurting you more than not blitzing him lol he exposed the Vikings doing that it’s not working
The only way they will shut up about his flaws will be the day he wins the big one
It's all scheme and the talent around him.
Fuck, I love this team
yall love glazing 😂 lets see what he do in the playoffs
Who u think should be da Bears HC next year ?
that play at 2:04 is so sick
It's Khalif Raymond. Not khalil
He probably got him mixed up with Khalil Dorsey. I'm a Lions fan and even I occasionally make that mistake.
nico gets great odds on that gambling site cause hes still on ir lol
Keep blitzing him 😂 those blitzers end up doing nothing and leave men wide open downfield.
Yeah, good luck with that...
Vikings defense
I know a lot of teams believe that for Goof the be effective he needs time in the pocket and everything has to be perfect for him. The lions coaching staff but in the case the Offensive Coordinator is a thinking strategic person and a student of the game and puts an exceptional amount of time into it. Not everyone is as strategic and thinking and strives for perfection as he and the other coaches do and that is what makes this team dangerous. They will fix their issues.
Why do all of your post titles (have to) have parentheses?!?
The 3-peat is inevitable
The evil empire thought they were inevitable
@@VineelKothurilol let’s see what the lions can to do that would be a nice super bowl let’s hope it happens
It's certainly a possibility but far from inevitable. The Super Bowl is obviously always compelling but Chiefs/Lions would be especially so. A team going for the first 3-peat against a team trying to end decades of futility? That would be awesome.
Goff's MVP chances are now zero lol
Ewwww gamba
So against the blitz he’s been great. But when pressured without the blitz, his numbers are still pretty bad
Source of the numbers? He's barely throwing an incompletion and not turning the ball over. Logic dictates he's been pretty good against any scenario.
@@christopherauger4258 people will literally do anything to give Goff his flowers. Dude throws a perfect game this year and it barely gets any media attention. He’s broken multiple QB records and literally has the highest completion percentage out of all the quarterbacks. More TDs than incompletions over a multiple game stretch. And then these people will say “well he has a good team” as if any of the other MVP candidates like Lamar and Josh just don’t have a team and are doing it on their own. It’s hilarious. Oh well. People can keep hating. Lions love being the underdogs and play with a chip on their shoulder. Other teams will pay the price
We need Ben Johnson in Dallas next year to fix our offense
I was thinking the same thing
Jerry is never going to give Johnson roster control, nor does he have much incentive to go there.
“If you can’t beat them, join them.” (Or make them join you)
No way, he already turned down HC jobs last year because they weren't the right fit in his mind. No chance he goes to Jerry World
lmao BJ will never work for Jerry Jones, I can promise you that.
No one said Goff isn’t good against the blitz. Goff isn’t good against pressure. If you can get after him with 4 and drop 7 into coverage, it’s gonna be a rough day.
Just take a look at Von Miller highlights in the 2015 AFC Championship game
you citing a 10 yr playoff game as your proof who he was isn’t who he is now
If you can consistently get pressure rushing 4, you have a top-3 defense
wow it’s almost like the best defenses play in the playoffs 🙄
Bro there is no one anywhere near him on a single one of the reps you show. Goff is not elite vs the blitz, the lions o line is
Are you blind?
i kept tellin ya'll in detroit to vote trump
and here we are, lions running away with the nfc
you're welcome
Wtf does one thing have to do with the other?
FACT!
Goff is better than Mahomes
Gotta kiss the ring(s)
@ rings ain’t shit it’s a team sport buddy
@ he literally has more Ints than tds Goff has a 12/1 TD to int ratio are you dumb
@@TexasNationalist1836 lol then you should know Mahomes would stomp Goff if he had the same roster right now
@ he would not again are you dumb
