Those are definitely 10 good reasons to love Maryland! Since I am an endangered species: a native Marylander, I can definitely add more reasons why I love Maryland! The first reason I really love Maryland is because of its' big influence on American History. I live in Saint Mary's County which is the reason Maryland has so much to share. Let me explain.
Back in 1993, when my Mom moved down here, we went into Saint Mary's County History Museum in Leonardtown. The sign they had there, and it is still there, said "We know a lot about Maryland History. We started it." And that is true. Saint Mary's County was the first county in Maryland.
What makes me proudest to be a native of Maryland is because of a name we earned while in battle. We are called The Old Line State. It was The Revolutionary War. The battle was taking place in New York. The British were fighting us so fiercely that they were successfully pushing back most of our troops.
After the battle, Our Captain, George Washington said this of us. He said that the British were pushing back the troops except for the Maryland troops. He said "They held the line." He also said that on many occassions our troops saved The Continental Army from being completely destroyed.
Whether you were born here or moved here later in life, you can be proud to be a citizen of Maryland. Because our state has played a pivitol role in giving all Americans the liberty which we hold dear.
A second reason I love Maryland is our diversity. This is not an official nickname of our state. But it is an accurate one! Maryland is also called "America in Miniature!" I have done a little research into this. And I can only find one thing you have to go elsewhere in the country to find. And that is deserts!
We have mountains, the ocean, rivers, a space museum, and more history than you and I could read in a lifetime! I have read much about Maryland. And I know there is more out there to read. As I said before, there is so much history in Maryland. I will give you one more amazing part of our history.
I know that many of you may know of Harriet Tubman. She was a slave who served here in Maryland. Maryland was a slave state at that time. She escaped. A few years after her escape she started coming back here to rescue first her family and then anyone else who wanted freedom. She was called "The Moses of her people."
When The Civil War started she became a nurse. And Maryland fought on The side of The Union. For this I thank God.
This is just a taste of what Maryland has to offer. And Leonard, I pray that you will make another video that reflects on these things Maryland has to offer. Again, thank you for this good video.
Rich history! The Maryland Gazette founded in 1727 is the oldest continuously published newspaper in the United States. 👌
Wow! I did not know that! I will pin your comment! Thank you for watching!
MD is really cool, especially it is so close to other fun states. HAHAHA. LIKE 17. 👍👍👍
I was so surprised driving through. Good some good deals on some road bike equipment. Thank you for watching!
I will come to Maryland soon
I love Maryland and Utah. I love California. I really love Maryland. I’m a Mississippi girl at heart. I love Louisiana and Minnesota. I really love the fall and zombies. I like seeing people dress up and do the thriller dance by Michael Jackson during October.
Maryland is a Northeast state, not a southern state like some think it is.
Hmmm...ok...I wasn't sure of that. Thank you for watching and the information.
Maryland literally has the worse traffic I’ve ever seen in my entire life and I’m 58 years old from New York. I think the huge problem with Maryland is that it’s a small state with a shit ton of people living there that’s making it overwhelmingly crowded. Lots of emigrants there too which doesn’t help.
And if anyone is looking to move here, I’m your guy!
I will pin your comment if anyone needs help. Good Luck! Thank you for watching!
Will be there soon
I will be there soon and need help
