      Isn't it crazy? Unreal. I bet we'll be lucky if things settle down by the end of 2021. I am too much of a cheapskate to buy this stuff it it isn't on sale.

    I just scored 1,200 lbs in plates and dumbbells for $200. Old guy just wanted his shed/garage cleaned out. With plate racks and dumbbell racks. With 2 7ft Olympic bars... started to stop and get a lotto ticket.😂

    Q: What's the best solution to not damaging your dumbbells?
    A: Dont drop your dumbbells. Control is everything.

    • @JimintheGym
      @JimintheGym  2 роки тому +3

      Nah. The best way to not damage your dumbbells is not to use them.
      If you ever use them, they'll end up looking used.

    Nice video, I like cast iron dumbbells more than rubber or urethane dumbbells because they are less expensive and it feels more manlier to me to lift with them. I buy them used because they retain their value ( sort of like gold). I can find pairs for 50 or 60 cents a pound. I wouldn't recommend spending more than 70 cents though.

      I bought the rubber coated ones because I live in an apartment, and I don't want to damage the floor or be to noisy. Plus I think the chrome handle and black rubber heads look more cooler than plain Jane dull gray. And I bought mine on ebay,used, relatively cheap....

    The rubber hex dumbells are the way to go for home use over the ones without, but I still went for the non rubber coated dumbells not because they were cheaper but because after a few years the rubber starts to crack and split leaving you with very grubby looking dumbbells, obviously commercial grade for the home would last a lot longer however the price would be far more expensive for a complete set.

    Great video. I am debating between the cast iron and the rubber coated. Do the rubber coated dumbells have a strong odor?

    • @JimintheGym
      @JimintheGym  3 роки тому +2

      No, my horse stall matts offgas like crazy. I think my bumper plates smell, too. But the rubber coated dumbbells don't have an odor that I can tell. Even the cheap ones don't. I gave away all my old cast iron dumbbells. If the world ever returns to normal, buying the rubber coated ones from Wally World isn't really more expensive than buying cast iron at retail.

    • @JimintheGym
      @JimintheGym  5 років тому

      Right. If I were buying one more, I'd buy that. The Titan was really disappointing in quality. That Marcy is basically what I have with a different brand.

      I am KINDA considering a rogue thing for dumbbell storage, but it's hyper expensive. (Like $600 or 700 for what I want).
      But if I didn't get the Rogue, I'd get the Marcy.

      John Dowd I’ve been watching videos on which dumbbell is better, rubber or cast iron and the end result from watching multiple videos was that cast iron is the better choice so I’m going to start a collection using cast iron dumbbells.
