My biggest live mistake took half the set before i could figure it out. My mono patches were transposed all weird and i couldn’t figure out what was going wrong. i had accidentally left chord mode on during the performance outside and it was so bright out that i couldn’t tell that it was on!
Some years ago, when I played guitar, I designed a programmable midi patch controller (foot pedal) which allowed sequential patch changes within a song, creation of song lists, set lists etc for live play. wonder if there's anything like that commercially available now?
Kind of, but not to the extent of automation that I'd like to have. That's why I'm designing my own system for that. Would love to hear more about what feature set yours had.
Born out of mistakes, honestly. Lol I used to write patch names on my set lists, but you get one wrong, don't lay attention when the song starts, and I it can be a big difference.
Cheers thank you! Always trying to get a little getter. Edited in 30fps instead of 24 this time, honestly don't see enough of a difference, and all the files were noticeably larger. So may go back. But the b-roll / pickup shots were all on purpose.
@@JorbLovesGear Thanks so much for that info. I'm going to have to check out your JX3P and Juno presets. I made the Solina Strings patch from your wonderful instruction video. You really are a wonderful teacher! Love your channel!
Hey dude! You brought up the time sync in the Deepmind here... maybe you could answer a question for me. I do live looping and I'm using a Boss RC-505 loop station as the master clock and I need the deepmind to be a slave. No matter what I do, it seems that the deepmind doesn't want to be a slave. Not sure if I'm missing something. I have the deepmind hooked up in a midi chain where everything on that chain is a slave to the loop station but the deepmind is the only piece of hardware that wont listen to its master haha. WHAT AM I MISSING JORB! I have it hooked up like this: loopstation midi out to deepmind midi in and then I use midi thru to keep the chain rolling to the other slaves. That was a lot of explanation for something so small, I apologize. also, dude.... I love your channel. Definitely my favorite currently! Thanks if you can help and thanks if you cant!
Could be a lot... same channel? DM has clock source set to midi? What are you trying to sync, is that set to look at clock? Arpeggiator, CV seq, and lfo's have their own settings for clock sync,
Hi Jorb, Great video. I was wondering if you had any great lead patches laying around. I've had a real problem trying to find some good ones, and i'm not very good at making my own :)
Great content. Curious how you deal with stereo vs. mono. Many of my favorite patches have ping pong delays or stereo choruses, reverbs, etc. Should I be making “just in case” mono versions, or will most house systems these days be happy to take a stereo input?
Great video jorb! When practicing or live with a band, how do you amply your synths? Do you use like a Roland keyboard amp, or plug into the vocal pa? It seems practice amplification for keys is something never discussed.
Great question! For the past few groups I've practiced with, we've had PA heads that are also mixers, so yes, shared with the vocal PA. I was in a group in college where the keys player would bring his own powered PA speaker and plug into that, like a guitarist with an amp, for practice and shows.
Hitting 'next' is great if you stick to a setlist. But Imwork in a band that just calls tunes on the spot. Lots of improv, but lots of scrambling thru patches. Any tips?
I have a block of 5 or 6 bread & butter sounds to just keep up when I don't know what to expect, or in just starting to work out the synth parts. . Like a mono legato lead, plucky mono bass, short piano-ish type, pads and brass. And then once the patch fits closer, I mold it to the specific track
I was involved a little bit in this record : open.spotify.com/album/3B13sLmPIfa61M3oNrQcDo?si=jaWUApPgToqKoSovFUCeSw&dl_branch=1 And have been playing live with this artist (but not part of any song writing, or published recordings) : open.spotify.com/artist/6ywrFFSJ32ZGM7EjJoM1o7?si=4db77e53aca94007
Started as a preset, actually! "Mean Lead" I believe, I haven't changed much in this iteration. Most of what you're hearing is from effects, an amp simulator specifically.
@@JorbLovesGear Wow, I love how the Deepmind is the bestworst synth that everybody needhates. Frankly, what I'm hearing from these videos and your Juno vids sounds pretty darn great. Anything you'd think I'd really want to know, as someone who seems to really love theirs, before I just pull the trigger and grab one?
Decide which fits you best between the 12, 6, or 12D, and wait for a cheap one to show up used. I hated a lot of the factory presets, but there are some gems. Scan around and take note of the ones you like, decide which ones you dont, and download my juno patches over them. Lol Good luck!

Trolling through the youtube videos on the deepmind, yours by far was very informational. I hate the over the top videos. Thanks.
Thanks, cheers
This is great content! Not enough synth related videos are focussing on live performance. Thanks :)
Cheers thank you! Trying to make the videos that I would want to watch myself.

I do save the patches I need to a separate bank area, but didn’t think about renaming those as the song name, great tip!

Some nice patches here ! Great job !
Cheers thank you!
Great video. Still lots of stuff it does that I’m too overwhelmed to get to
Cool share thanks bro!
Beautiful patches too! Want! :)

Nope! DCO's, really stable
