TL;DW: The Yale Assure Smart Lock is an excellent piece of tech. Even just moving to a digital touchpad is a huge step forward in modernizing your home. Paired with the smart features via HomeKit or Google Assistant/Alexa, you'll wish every door lock was like this one. - Наука та технологія
Excellent review, very informative.
Still undecided which one to get, iM1 or August.
Great review. VERY useful. Thank you!
Thanks!
I have one on my garage, laundry room door. I'm also placing one on my front door after I get a new Strom door.
Thank you. Taking out my Schlage smart lock. Works fine but, it’s very loud. You can hear it in every room in my house.
How loud is this Yale lock as it locks or unlocks the door?
Also, do you recommend other smart locks? Consumer Reports recommends the Yale, but I’ve read other reviews that suggest the August lock.
Again, thank you for your review! Richard
It’s not particularly loud, but I think because it has a distinct noise it’s easily heard, if that makes sense. Certainly not enough to be a nuisance or he heard over a tv or something, nor wake you up at night. I have not had any experience with the August but I do like that the external part of the lock (where you put your key in) remains the same and only the inside is replaced with the August lock.
Have you heard the Schlage? Any idea if it’s louder than Yale? And, appreciate your help! Rich
Didn't you read the question @@richardwoltjer8782
How can I tell if my yale yrd 216 is marine grade
hi! have you tested automations in homekit making the lock trigger something?
I currently have it part of a scene to unlock my door and turn on some lights when I arrive home.
I'm sure if you have an automation that is "if door is locked , do X" it would work just fine.
@@TechTechMoreTech thanks for the reply, I also did a set up to make it turn on some lights when the door opens, saved me a door sensor purchase.
Hi,how do you upgrade
I thought the oleophobic coating really worked, but in min 5:22 you can see it has so many fingerprints all over.
hi! is it possible to use the app over 4G or does it only work with WIFI? thanks
As long as you add it to Homekit you can use it over 4G as well!
How easy is it to see the numbers on the display when there is glare from the sun shining on it?
Perfectly fine, most of the time your body will tend to cast a shadow and it’ll be visible anyways
@@TechTechMoreTech Great to know, thanks. I'm considering buying one for a beach condo.
what happens if the battery runs out? what's the back up option to unlock?
There is a port at the bottom to attach a 9V battery which can power it on
installed this lock , but how do i lock it from the outside when i leave ? without the app
Tap the lock with the back of your hand.
Do the same when it’s locked to bring up the keypad to unlock it
I have this lock, i changed my wifi, how do i change it in the device?
I don’t see any info in their instructions. Have you updated the WiFi on your HomeKit hub? You may need to reset it unfortunately
Did you install a handle
You can use an existing or regular handle
I had a question what's the difference between this one and the other yale lock? There is one for 249.99 and one for 299.99
The $249 one comes with an August Hub/bridge. The $299 has a Nest bridge/hub for connectivity.
@@TechTechMoreTech but they both do the same thing right? Ones not better then the other
Yes, just with different hubs.
I think the Yale is technically a different model, but same functionality
does the 'base' version of this lock (eg: YRD256NR619) ➖have➖ the slot for (possible later) insertion of one of their zigbee, homekit, etc type ''modules'? or does it LACK the slot for that?
thanks for info :-)

Yo watch out you don’t want to post your HomeKit code online
Usability? This lock sucks. Pairing is so insanely non intuitive. Virtually impossible to get it linked to amazon key
I don’t have any experience with amazon key so I can’t comment on it’s connectivity. Works great for HomeKit though
Don't buy this Nest X Yale lock! I have had to take 2 different locks to best buy because 2 different locks have failed after 3-5 weeks! its the most trash lock I have bought
This ain’t a nest
