As a Ghanaian, having watch us not even qualify for AFCON 2024 doesn't surprise me because everytime those 11 players enter the pitch, it's like the football left them😢. As for the number of coaches we've had, I have no words for them 😐.
It pains me as a Ghanaian seeing my national team failing to qualify. This is the equivalent of England failing to qualify for the EUROS. Thats how big of a country Ghana *is( now was) in the AFCON This is Ghana at every AFCON since 2008; 2008 - eliminated at semifinals (3rd place) 2010- lost the finals (2nd place) 2012 - eliminated at semifinals (4th place) 2013 - eliminated at semifinals (4th place) 2015 - lost the finals 😭 (2nd place) 2017- eliminated at semifinals (4th place) 2019 - eliminated at round of 16 (12th place) 2021- eliminated at group stage 🤬 (19th place) 2023- eliminated at group stage 🤡 (17th place) 2025 qualification- failed to qualify for AFCON 💩. Mind you the GFA president KURT Okraku took over in 2019... You can literally see the decline ever since... But will he and his other officials be replaced? Not in my corrupt country GH🇬🇭 Thanks Niran for letting the world know of the current state of the Black Stars. Our Nigerian friends has caught us lacking😓
Thank you for highlighting the ongoing crisis in Sudan, Niran. Our country qualifying for the AFCON and sitting on top of the WC qualifying group gives us hope and solace in these very dark times. I would like to suggest using more precise terminology instead of "civil war", since it's a war between two militarised groups where the civilians are caught in the crossfire. Cheers.
As British born Ghanaian I’m glad you made this video are team is in disarray even though we have an abundance of young attacking talent that is not being utilised
Tbh as a Ghanaian, most of the us don't care anymore. If anything, it's serves as entertainment cuz it becomes painful if you start to care about it. Probably the reason why the fans were celebrating that kudus missed penalty
😭 We sacked our coach after the FA was reformed only for him to take Sudan and use them to qualify for the AFCON and to top it off they beat us in the same group . Btw Sudan's coach is Ghanaian, yup the very one the FA sacked
Ghanaian here. The problem with Ghana is rooted at the management level. Corrupt officials have destroyed the local league, youth league and national teams. GFA officials OWN FOOTBALL TEAMS in the same country!! This is a recipe for disaster since they prioritise positioning their youth players in national teams, and threaten promising players with exile if they don't sign for their teams. Moreover, there is a constant misapplication of FIFA funds, which has denied us infrastructural development. Their manipulation of the national team and coach selections has created a toxic environment in the team itself, in addition to the presence of cliques within the squad. The experienced players DO NOT want to play for the current coach anymore.
As a Ghanaian I’ll tell you the problem right now. “Corruption”, right from the very top. 5 coaches in 5 years, Ghanaians even are glad we didn’t qualify so that the board can get their shit together.
I am Ghanaian..You know why the fans were cheering the missed penalty? Because everyone is fed up..we see the problem, yet we also know no amount of complaining will cause a change, so all that's left is what you see know..no love whatsoever...some men saw the great potential black stars had, and others saw the loads of money to be made
The coach has steadfastly refused to resign from his position, despite mounting pressure from fans and analysts. Meanwhile, the management of the football association seems reluctant to take action and remove him from his role. Allegations of embezzlement within the organization are becoming increasingly apparent. It raises concerns about the integrity of the leadership in Ghana's football community. Long live Ghana!
Ghana really needs to sort themselves out in terms of management, like how does their FA end up appointing both Avram Grant former Chelsea interim manager in 2008 and also Portsmouth's director of football and then Chris Houghton who was former Norwich City manager, Brighton and Hove Albion manager and the Newcastle assistant manager alongside Alan Shearer in 09.
You nailed it. Kurt Okraku is the genesis of this downfall, he does not care about Ghanaian grassroots football. He sees black Stars as a brand to cashout from.
My friend Paa who's originally from Ghana, is currently studying at the University of Southampton, he supports Crystal Palace and he played a lot of football at his grammar school even he said that he tried to get scouted at 15 but decided to put football as a hobby
Sudan is a powerhouse of african football won the afcon in 1970 and is starving ever since for a second afcon, you can say its like england a nation has rich past football mad but has long draught sucess . But this time i believe Sudan will do great to make the nation proud 🇸🇩🇸🇩
It's the Ghanaian curse: being the first to achieve something but failing to build upon it, instead waiting for it to crumble before realizing that without deliberate effort, things inevitably deteriorate.
The rare African football video where they know all the facts & dont fall back on the usual racism & tired jokes 👏👏 im looking forward to how you cover AFCON
Suarez pulled a domino effect on Ghana trust me😂. If Ghana got to the semifinals in 2010 they would’ve probably played Spain in the final. They would’ve at least qualified from their group in 2014 one thing leading to another wouldn’t have seen them this low now.
@ the GFA recruits players that has connections with them So if a player’s agent doesn’t have any connection it’s hard to get them in the team unless you’re being recognized in the world then they can’t do anything about it Question for you Why did B.Rahman go to the world cup?

The clubs alhilal are currently playing for mauritania premier league and are leading ; so the country is in war but footballing they are strong
The main reason for the recent fall off by Ghana is all that you've mentioned. B the most urgent is the addition of the GFA boss and some of his cronies, owning football clubs in the country and using their position to promote young talents to be sold off prematurely. It compromises selection of players, because those people push their players in place of free-selection by the coach. A lot of new talents don't get selected because of this behavior.
