Hi Joy, your video is very helpful! I'm expecting my first baby this summer. Do you shoot right after your maternity leave? Because my client is inquiring me about wedding and portrait session and I don't know if I should book them right after my maternity leave.
I waited 8 weeks from claras birth to take on a wedding and that was plenty of time for me to heal but every birth will be different! I would try not to schedule anything too close in case you have your baby late and the two dates end up closer than you originally wanted. And congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
I’m trying to plan a maternity leave before I get pregnant! Do you recommend blocking off months in advance before you’re pregnant, or refunding people if their dates are too close to your due date? I’m with you on the fact that there is not a lot of information out there on this!
That’s a person choice for sure but I personally wouldn’t plan until you have a due date. I wouldn’t want to block off time and then it not happen in the time I had hoped and lose all that income. Giving people 6 to 7 months notice should be sufficient, and of course I’d like to provide hand-picked references.
Tiffinie, thank you!! 🤗 I do have some new templates coming out super soon actually! They will be available on my site and I’ll announce on Instagram and email newsletter when they’re launched 🎉
I have a part time baby sitter that helps me a couple of mornings per week right now and that’s when I do the majority of my work - but I also wake up early and utilize nap time for work. I made a few videos inside my FB group about working weddings while pregnant and breastfeeding. Check those out in Photoboss Fb group. You can def breastfeed and still shoot weddings but you will have to pre plan and pump on the wedding day
Joy this is GREAT! I'm legit terrified what will happen if I have another baby. I'm already limiting my weddings in 2022 but all this backend stuff that I never even thought about it. I'm also very lost on how to get back into shooting weddings with a toddler and a newborn.
Are you planning a maternity leave (or just some time off) in your biz?
As a first time mom and youtuber I’m so thankful you made this video!
Hope it all went well this time around!😊
I'm so glad this was helpful for you!! My maternity leave this time around was WAY better actually than the first. Wishing you all the best as well
Thank you for this video!❤️❤️
You are so welcome!
I love your videos, thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks Carol!! :)

Hello Joy, You are my favorite to watch & learn from . I was wondering do you have a Bridal Guide template for photographers to purchase?

Oh I can't wait! I'll be looking out for it.
Who's going to watch your infant when you work? Is the sitter a constant or varies? How will you juggle breast feeding while at a job?

Linsey I GET IT. It's no small thing to balance both business and motherhood. Have you seen my video on this? ua-cam.com/video/GCbAqdL1m3M/v-deo.html
Do y’all still get paid off work
No, not paid by anyone else when you’re self employed
