In this video we take a look at a range of 3D prints including many suited to large scale printers such as the Prusa XL. We will also take a look at a dual head XL and the quality of the prints it can produce.

Duel head should be good for labeling prints.
can you post a video doing exactly what you said, using pla for support of a different material? i’m curious to see how well that works out… that would be a major plus for the xl if that kind of thing works well…
Great video? Western Australia huh? Would you be in Perth? I visited Perth 3 times in my Naval career starting in 81 and loved the people and sights. I'm trying to put together a garage workshop and will be using my 3D printers to help out.
Hi David, thanks. I'm relatively near Perth. I'm ex Airforce myself, but only traveled around Aust with them. 3D printing is great for jigs, tool holders, handles, push sticks and a whole heap of items for around the workshop. Best of luck and have fun.
Did you buy the xl that you needed to build ?
Hi, yes, its a bit cheaper that way. The unit comes partly assembled, but there is still a few hours of self assembly required. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
Interesting printer- but at £2000 starting price (UK) for a bowden feed is a bit rich for me. My current printers cost 20% of that, and do 300 x 300 x 350 auto bed level and direct feed. I would need to do a lot of large prints- for a few just get them printed for you. Nice toy though, and fun to explore. Thanks for sharing.
Correction- I have learnt that the XL is not bowden feed but direct.
Yes, very expensive, there are definitely cheeper alternatives. On the upside though Prusa build great, reliable printers, offer excellent after sales service and keep spare parts in stock. So I know that I will be able to rely on the XL for many years. My old Prusa Mk3 is still going strong 5 years after purchase and it has seen a lot of use.
@@DarrensWorkshop I certainly agree about the quality of Prusa printers, and if I were setting up a printer farm I would certainly consider them. As a hobbyist (even though I have printed several hundred items) I have other considerations. Price is one, but open source design/parts are another. Prusa are a 'safe' buy, but there is pleasure in ringing performance out of less costly equipment. You have a very nice machine, but most would have their needs met at a lower cost- and value for money is important.

What’s a piss take is the Aus govt applies duty (tax) then applies GST on top of that (tax). So tax on a tax..
I’ll get mine in may2024 and am likely to be around 5200 as exchange rate is 1/ 1.58. If the aud drops more it gonna be closer to a 5500 machine. Lucky it’s a “business” purchase so it will get deducted.
