  • I want to make this a special dedication going out to Lenny Dee's daughter Georgia. I only hope she will get a chance to hear my arrangement of 'her' song. Lenny Dee was one of my greatest inspirations as I was working on my music career. What a talent - what a loss! RIP LENNY DEE

Lovely sound and well played , Lenny had a special sound with lots of reverb through the leslie.

This is by far, the best version of this song I have ever heard on a Hammond. The registrations, the timing and style are to my absolute taste. Such a joy to hear it played in this way. Thankyou.

Thanks David for the nice comments. I'm glad you liked my arrangement. I had planned on updating my site, but so far, I haven't been able to find the time to get it done. "Senior moment" i guess. I still play, but just haen't gotten around to record anything. Bob

Lenny Dee was a great player! I inherited a Hammond 50th year editiion organ that had only been played for a year. I use it for practice in my Blues band. What a great sounding instrument!! Thanks for posting.

My Dad passed on at the age of 93 and had just about every Lenny Dee Album. My twin bro and I "took over" Dad's
old Thomas organ at age 12 and by age 16 we were duping the Church congregation because no one knew which
twin was playing. Then Dad helped us get a B-3 back in 1967. Our band was the talk of the town, I'll tell you. We would even
rent it out to other bands. Anyway I haved LOVED listening to Lenny forever. God love him. Cheerz from AZ

Thank you for the great rendition--which I've listened to so a poor player can copy it. As if I could! :) I just received (for free) a beautiful Hammond in Oak, theater cabinet. I believe it to be a late model Aurora(?) It looks like an Aurora and it has the touch start like the Elegante. I can't find an ID tag. But it is a beautiful instrument with a wonderful tone like yours & I never dreamed I'd be given such a gift! I hope I can be a truly competent player as yourself someday! Thank you for giving me something to shoot for!

I'm amazed, you keep it simple, but it doesn't sound boring. When I try, I need some acompaniment tracks.

Thank you for the comment Rob. When I played in supper clubs in the area, I tried to keep my music recognizable. I didn't want the customers sitting at their tables wondering "what is he playing". I just saw no need to "clutter" it up with a bunch of unnecessary additional notes. I made up for simple melody with a lot of left hand added accompaniment.

i have a question for you, this keyboard has like an ensemble sound like piano and organ @ the same time? like the technics sx-c600 or the hammond b200? the sounds i hear on this video sound beautiful, i like the organ sound very warmth and roomy that you are getting out of this keyboard and the leslie speed gives that lovely enchantment,is that you playing?,sounds great, very nice...enrique

You're an inspiration certainly. With all of the talk of Leslies, I found that sometimes the 122 I'd hooked to my A100 sometimes disturbed me from room bounce. After playing a few organs with it built in I could finally enjoy the Leslie sound. A neat speaker I once got for $5 was a small Wurlitzer cabinet approx. 21 in. SQ. X 11 in. W - it stood vertical. 2-5 in. spk's mounted facing out of ea. end of an 8 in. cardboard that was counter balanced at the opposite end spun btwn 2 metal plates.

Nice!!! I'd still love to see actual video of your playing. What do you think about adding annotations providing details about registrations etc.? That could really help those of us who are trying to learn this style by observation.

@ElegantePlayer & @KC9SYJ I found my Elegante last june for $150 in Akron in mint working/looking condition. It's the leg model, of which I've never complained because first of all for $150 who would, but also because it matches my other favorite organ- the Wurlitzer 4500. I have a Leslie 705 and two 540's that is also a good choice for a Hammond, but I'll make a high rotor soon enough.
As far as thinking an older organ is a compromise, nope- a new organ little to no tonal character.
