    Great video really enjoyed it. I picked up one of these Enduro several years ago. Fortunately, mine had been stored in the garage for 40 years still have the old white wall tires even though they’re dry rot and I continue to store dry found some 22 inch tires which was pretty tough to do and I guess pretty soon I’m gonna greaser all up and take her for a ride. Thanks again for the video.

    I like it. Some of the rusted parts can be de-rusted with vinegar, the you can nickel plate them. The thing I like about vintage Schwinn is you can get original-looking decals or even cut masking templates for spraying. The paint looks good on this one. I have reflectors and lights. If you have wheel reflectors you should have 2 so they balance. After putting enough miles on bikes I keep the Dork Disk too, there is a reason for them.

    Appreciate all the close-up shooting and editing for youtube. Very nice tutorial video for someone who might want to give a new life into an old bike, but only have contact with modern shimano standards and parts. But that kind of unsealed bottom bracket and hubs are nightmare. Few rides in the rain and it's getting loose.

    Good thing about foil is it doesn't remove paint or metal quite like sanding. It's more like steel wool scouring than sanding.

    Was about to ask if it made in USA however you explained it. Yes Schwinn was an American company made in Chicago. I don't even see them anymore new anywhere. My buddy had a new Schwinn mountain bike back in 2005 but the rear axle cracked due to riding wheelies all the time. Other than that issue the bike seemed decent.

      Ahhh dang too bad about the cracking. Ahh yeah I think they are still around but don’t see them much here in Australia either. They did have a lot popular classic bmx’s though I think. were popular back in the 70s/80s I think , cheers!

    I bought some new MKS pedals earlier this year and had the opposite issue with one. Didn’t notice anything until I rode them, but one had just a slight knocking to it. So I removed it, tightened it up ever so slightly, and the knocking disappeared. MKS are good pedals but I wonder if there’s just a bit of QC issue with the assembly.

    • @garysprojects

    Isopropyl alcohol works perfectly for removing and installing grips. WD-40 leaves an oily residue on your grips and handlebars, while IPA leaves no residue at all. To remove the grips just use something thin that won't scratch the handlebars (a WD-40 straw works, but I prefer something more rigid, like those sticks they put corn dogs on) to push down between the handlebars and the grip and pry the grips open a bit, and pour IPA in there (tilt the bike to one side of course) and then just twist and pull the same as you do when using WD-40. If you've never done it that way before you'll be surprised at how slippery IPA makes the rubber grips; every bit as slippery as WD-40 but without the residue.
    To install grips just wet the handlebars and inside of the grips with IPA (clean them both with IPA first if they aren't already clean) and they will slide on slick as a smelt. Give it a half hour or so for the IPA to evaporate and they won't budge after that.

    • @garysprojects
      @garysprojects  Рік тому +1

      great tips thank you i gotta try that! for a moment there i was thinking you were referring to "IPA" as in the beer 😂😂😂😂 cheers man!!

    • @MaximRecoil
      @MaximRecoil Рік тому +1

      @@garysprojects Lol, yeah, I didn't even think about the initials for isopropyl alcohol also being the initials for a type of beer when I typed that.
      By the way, I can confirm that IPA works great for installing (and removing) those A’ME Cam grips you used in this video, since I have some of those exact same grips. I think they look awesome, but I stopped using them because they aren't as comfortable (in my opinion) as A’ME Tri grips. I wish they would make a version that combined the hand-filling Cam profile with the Tri grip pattern; that would be perfect.
      A’ME grips are made here in the US and they are legendary here, especially the Tri model. I don't know if the current generation of BMXers use them all that much, but when I was a kid in the '80s they were all the rage.

    • @garysprojects
      @garysprojects  Рік тому +1

      @@MaximRecoil haha I was thinking “maybe the beer would work! “ 😂
      I haven’t tried the tri grips but I like how these have that extra rubber to fill out the hand , not bad on this bike since in only cruise tho. I do wanna try the tris ! Thanks for the recommendation 👍
