Looks a tidy place Andy, thank you, these videos will be invaluable to historians in years to come, imagine being able to see into the past, well done!
Love Wednesbury, born there, married there.to a Wednesbury (Friar Park )girl. Went to Holyhead Rd School.left 1961 but make occasional visits which i love.Unfortunatly, all my relatives have now passed away. The old shops remember well,Austins sports shop, Hollingsworths butchers Bakers cake shop, Tedds Wet Fresh fish shop RoseWolf ladies up market ( Yes, up market ) dress shop, Holloway's Toys. Woolies ( Woolworths) and of course The Magnet plus many others fondly remembered I livedin Great Western St near to Railway station, before moving to The Oval down Park Lane way. I loved living both places Wednesbury Always has and always been the place i love . Especially the people. ❤
I left there in 1995 for Wiltshire but go back every couple of months as my family are still there. Love it and the people, can’t beat Black Country folk. I remember walking up Union street as a kid before it was pedestrianised, we had a bike shop, jewellers, Austin’s sports shop, Firkins bakery, a butchers shop that made their own pork pies and faggots, shoe shops, Lipton Deli, Woolworths, radio rentals and teddy grays sweet shop which is still there!
Union St had great shops Austin Sports shop (oh the smell of leather ) Rose Wolf , Quality ladiies outfitters, Hollingsworths pork butchers. Bakers cake shop, Tedds, great wet fish shop, Those were real quality shops.
