I heard one influencer (Hamza) say one thing that has always stayed with me - He said he had to get his mental situation in a better place before he was ever able to get his physical situation in a better place. You'll never be able to maintain a calorie deficit if you don't address the stress in your life.
I have lost 44kg over the period of 3 years, you have to consistenly no to people when they offer you pizza, fast food and desserts. Setting boundaries really critical
At 63 I retired, listened to the lie of the golden years, took it easy, got a bit plump up to 97kg (214lbs). Lost my strength, not good for a man. Bought weights, started exercising like crazy, had to buy more weights and resistance bands. Might have to get some more soon. Dropped down to 83kg (183lbs), from a 40 to a 34 pants size. Never reached 82kg that was my aim, losing fat and turning into muscle, will get there. So at 69, 8 months ago, I started training, feeling good, last bit to go still.
The fifth point has to be the most important. You need to be able to say no and actually build a boundary from not just your environment but from your own self destructive behaviours.
8:11 This part about "letting go" =/= "getting rid off" opened my eyes about my heartbreak. I have tried my hardest to get over him, but I always tried to do something about it. I never thought that letting go and "trying to forget" might be opposite actions. I will try to just accept it, instead of push it away. Genuinely, thank you.
Yessss the principles never change! The fact that the videos have a similar sound actually adds credibility for me. He recognizes the simplicity of the concepts and explains them better than most anyone on here imo :)
Most honest video. Got my bodyfat down to 12.5% in 6 mths but deficit was too great and started experiencing shitty workouts and waking up in the middle of the night. Started eating more and bodyfat went back up to 16% to 17% but my work outs, digestion and sleep improved. 3 years on, stuck at 16% bodyfat and going thru a cut now down to 12% again but am doing it gradually vs the rush. Thank you for the video as a golden reminder.
That man just truth bombing golden nuggets ....cut the stress out (even that it means cutting some people out of your life) after that you alone will want to hit the weights every day ....word of advice don't start out out of anger and spite and not healed yourself mentally .. being there done that it will get you the results..yes... but also when something hit you hard (life, another break up, narcissist parent) you will bounce back maybe not Soo hard like before but it enough....let that be a note not only to myself but to whoever need to hear it ....other than that.. keep on going baby you building yourself is priceless experience and you'll loved ❤🤟💪
Good video but just a little clarification. « calorie” deficit is indeed the way to go but you still need to eat over your resting basic metabolism. If you were to stay awake in bed all day you would still burn a significant number of calories. Then because you move around you add an activity factor multiplier. You need to eat less and get as close to your basic metabolism without going under it. Otherwise your body jumps in survival mode and even if you eat less you will become a skinny person with high percentage of body fat. The body will store more fat but will use protein strains to create its energy. Speaking with experience but also the science data behind this is pretty solid. Im kinesiologist with a university degree in nutrition.
Been trying to tell people eating 1500 calories if your maintenance is 2000 calories is not healthy. But a lot of times people under estimate by about 200-300 calories if that’s the case their at 1800 calories not bad. Try and eat your maintenance and be more active, simple.
Nope. Starvation Mode doesnt exist for extended period of times. Just look at a Nazi camp, jews were bones and skin only. There are studies done with people starving themselves and they all became skinny as Hell. Starvation Mode is a myth that doesnt resist The Power of time.
Starvation mode is most likely not true. Y'all can read Dr. Eric Trexler's research on the topic but if that were the case, people wouldn't die of starvation all the time. Having a calorie deficit that's too low is bad, yes, for many different reasons, but starvation mode is not one of them (I believe it's mostly bad because of all the stress that it puts your body under which in turn will affect sleep and recovery and lead to more muscle loss)
This is only the case if you eat too much fat as it coberts into body fat more easily, not enough protein to sustain your muscle mass and dont stimulate your muscles to signal your body they are still needed.
Main thing = caloric deficit. Ez. Use Happy Scale to track your 7-day moving average, because the daily fluctuations will mess with your brain no matter how stable you are.
Great advice! I like how you mentioned and combine the calorie deficit AND muscle / strength building. Most of these online advice don't mention that the 2 go hand in hand to lose fat!
All this methods you listed helped me quit smoking. I was an addict for 18 years, and commitment was a big one. I knew there were going to be challenges but I owed myself the future that I wanted to be a non smoker, and I just commit for that one day, and it's been over a year. So it made it so easy for me to understand when you said to commit. Thank you for the reminder and everything else. I was going to start cardio, but I'll start with walking 10k first, for a few months. Will report back in a year!
I was pleasantly taken aback by the advice here. I've been on yet another weight loss journey, but this time I'm trying to do it right. I resonate with most of the advice you've given here. I truly enjoyed it, especially the segment about "letting it go", both metaphorically and literally. Definitely taking a look into your community. Thank you!
Yes, people like to project onto you when you're going through your own journey. Best way to deal with it is to not say anything about your weight loss journey to anyone that you know wouldn't react positively towards you and your goals. Even if they're family or friends and don't post about it on social media either. Keep it all to yourself and manifest your ideal outlook on your personal health and weight loss goals. After all, this is for YOU! It's ok to be selfish during your transformation. Like a crysalis into a butterfly. 🦋
Thank you for the motivation and the relationship advice. I really took that one to heart because I never thought of being thankful for the relationship or the experience. Bless you bro!
Wow thank you, ive been trying to be in a calorie deficit for 2 months and consistently work out and there has been ups and downs, I recently stopped doing omad and just eating normally again because I noticed that I started binging heavily so I decided I gotta stop all diets and listen to my body. Now im gonna go back in a normal calorie deficit of 1200-1500. Ive lost and gained weight but this video really gave me motivation to keep going.
Thanks! I learned something NEW. I never considered or realized that when you weight train, you are telling your body to pull calories from fat than from muscle. Good point.
I'm honestly surprised, when I saw the title I cringed and was about to just "do not recommend channel" but I gave it a listen and yeah, you are correct and this is a very good video. The let go part resonates really well as when I tried to stop eating sweet stuff I would usually come back to it as the desire to eat it would increase over time due to the resistance. But in the course of me trying a bunch of stuff, changing this, changing that, at some point I was grateful of the time I have enjoyed all those sweets, and that at that time it was beautiful and helped me get trough stuff but that it was time to let go as I no longer needed it like that it just was not the same any more. So I really understand that part, even now I fondly remember that period of my life rather than chastising myself about it, I focus on the good times I had with the understanding that it is just not what I need now. And once you really let go you just focus on other things. But it is a process, and it must be honest.
I absolutely agree with every single word that he said. I experienced it. I lost 35 kg within 3 years. It is like pleateu instead of direct line. It is up & down situation. I constantly monitor my body weight. When I gain some kilos, I would restart my intermittent fasting. At some point, when it is constant line, I will stop Intermittent Fasting. Sports (Gym or whatsoever) to increase muscle to help metabolic
Step 7 of letting go hit hard. I got rejected by my ex, she moved on to someone else, and here I am on a weight loss journey. So far, in only 2 months, I’ve lost about 28 pounds while rigorously training with weights almost every day. It’s been a fun journey, and can’t wait to see what else is in store for me.
I have also gone up and down from obese to shredded multiple times. Like the guy said there will be a lot of up and downs but as long as you don't quit and are honest with yourself ,you will eventually get there.
thanks for being honest about everything, mate, Ive been doing this numerous times now and especially those ups and downs can be devestating and make you flip. Its dedication and trying out stuff without blaming yourself if or better when it doesnt work.
Thank you so much! I was comsidering quitting after losin 16 pounds in 2 weeks on a low carb diet because I felt so weak at the gym. I swill continue because of your motivation
I have been exercising and learning what works best for me and I can say that what you have stated is 100% true. At some point I have applied all your advice (thru trail and error, and watching tons of exercise videos to learn how to do exercises properly).
all these are correct. From my routine; what I see effective is to limit consumption at night before sleep and ensure the calorie bottom line for the day is lower than your calorie need..you can lose 2-3 kg in a month, easily. or fasting everyday for 12 hrs, after you break the fast, do small exercise ROUTINELY daily.set your target daily.
The first place it started for me is mental. You have to have the discipline for yourself, no half assing. Been a year for me. Not done, but im 75 lbs lighter then i was last summer. Hes right about the bad days and the plateaus that hit
The information you shared in this video really enhanced my understanding of calorie deficits and working-out. I’m doing a body transformation challenge on my channel to get to 10% body fat and this was really helpful.
Thanks man, this kind of video really gives me the motivation! Calm and logical. I´m getting there, Its all about being systematical in how you face it. :)
The people surrounding you thing got to me. I have had limited support from husband for my health goals for years and i never really committed to exercise. I started working on some of my goals this past february. He left for a long work trip this spring and i finally had the mental space to start intermittent fasting and working out multiple times a week. It was hard to be strict with myself when we were reunited, esp because i make all the food he and the kids want. I kept at my goals but not strict and started to feel slowed and bloated and numb again. I made a new friend a month ago who is an athlete and exchanging notes with them and just being around them got my fitness fire so reignited. I'm strict to my goals now and i have never felt more personal and physical growth and i am so much happier!
I resonate when you say your mouth is your boundaries. Because in asian household since i was a child. There are no boundaries. You're my child you are me. No separation in between.
As someone who has been trying to lose weight for years on and off, putting on weight, losing weight... gain, loss, gain, loss. There's truth to there being ups and downs and just showing up for yourself for every workout you want to do. Even though a calorie deficit is important, we also need to listen to our bodies. Eat, but don't overeat. What you consume is important and finding a right balance for yourself is key. There's unhealthy food, but food is not evil. Go out and have fun, eat your doughnut, eat pizza but be mindful of the quantity and overall daily calorie consumption. Try to consume more whole grains, more nutritious and satiating food. Exercise but there's no need for intense workouts, especially if that's not your cup of tea. Intensity doesn't always equal burning more calories. And weight loss is never just a one-time thing. There's always chances of routing back to old habits like I did multiple times. Eating healthy and getting into fitness should become a habit. It is a lifestyle you should enjoy and be able to commit to if staying healthy is your end goal. Lastly, progress is always better than no progress.
You don't lose fat because insulin resistance, stop eating carbs, sleep well, drink a lot of water daily, suplement your body with magnessium citrate and potassium citrate and do HIIT (high intensity interval training).
Them love handles they stubborn as hell. I gained them during Covid and started working out consistently since last year. I built muscle and lost fat while staying the same weight but these love handles still there. I’m sure they are coming off and there’s no way I’m giving up now!!
doing a 1200 calorie intermittent fast for 8 weeks, then going to have 1700-1800 for another 4 weeks then ill finally be where i want to be then i can just do strength training while eating at maintenance
I met a PT who had me track my weight everyday for 90 days. He forcrd me to track all my food. 100 cals deficit a day with lifting and walking. I lost like 20 lbs in that time. It works .
There is also body recomp as in if you’re lifting weights you will not see much weight loss at all but you will see weight gain 😅 remember muscle weighs more then fat
Calorie deficit AND low blood sugar levels...those are the two keys things. Calorie deficit and high blood sugar levels all day and night, you won't burn fat...add in some zone two exercise, and you'll drop fat super fast.
I lost 10kgs last year. I cut meals from three times a day to two meals. No Breakfast and finish eating after 19.00 hrs. Basically a fast including bedtime . Diet , eggs , berries , avocado , greens and beans plus some meat. If I eat some birthday then I extend the fast .
Really great! I know the "influence" of family, I have been a vegetarian for a little over 30 years. My family is in agriculture and raise animals as part of their business. Even after all this time I still experience people trying to get me to justify and argue about my choices, which I don't participate in. Apparently that makes them have even more feelings. 🤣 Still it has nothing to do with me!
I think there were so many truths spoken as a bottom line, but one key thing that I always find reductionist is the part about "being fully committed." To me "being committed" is more of a state of being, rather than a real choice. It's a consequential state. A better question is: How can we get to the state of full commitment? Why different individuals derail and not commit? I have found it's an absolute fallacy to simply conclude "if I can do it, someone else can." Heck, there's many things I see Olympic medal athletes doing that I know I simply won't be able to do how hard I try. DNA comes into play - and I have to accept that. I think there's a complex combination of habits, DNA make up, upbringing, chemical effect son brain that influence deeply how committed one can be- and I have found some ways to attack that problem but still looking for better. I have found accepting where you are and start there, eliminating habit-driven distractions (don't leave easy snacks bad for you within reach), focus on why you wan to get healthier and decompose why you can't just start today doing something-anything and take it on a day to day basis until you can start building a healthy habit. I am at a point that I can see humans do not have as much control as we think we have. A good book here is the one that came out last year in November 2023 - "Determined" by Robert M. Sapolsky" on the current findings on free will. A good one I found that combines some of that into trying solve the making new habits puzzle is "Atomic Habits." Thanks for making this video.
I went through a divorce this summer and I literally stopped eating. I was 225 pounds and now after 4 months im 167 pounds. Ik that starving yourself isn’t good but I do look good now. lol the only thing I wish was I moved weights so I couldn’t kept a lot of muscle I lost bc of that
Advice needed please: I am 5ft 9, 75KG. I do not lift weights so I have minimal muscle. I look somewhat "skinny fat" less emphasis on the skinny. What should I do in regards to calorie intake to get a body like this guy? I'm assuming I will need to start lifting weights. He is the same height and 5 KG lighter than myself. I don't want to be bulky I want to look lean/athletic like a soccer player etc. Cheers
Thanks for the video! I went another way and to the date I’m minus 27 kg now. Making updates on my instagram (the same username). Anyways I’d like to add that you were absolutely correct about the drinking stuff (sugared drinks) - that’s one of the most crucial factors imo.
I heard one influencer (Hamza) say one thing that has always stayed with me - He said he had to get his mental situation in a better place before he was ever able to get his physical situation in a better place. not sure i agree 100%, since a difficult time can really be what triggers you to want to change and stick to the changes. That’s what happened for me
No, the body and mind work hand in hand, the sulah is incorrect, a strong body can bring stability, so will the mind when it's sharp.
no i agree but how do i quit my job and not die from poverty?

I lost 50 pounds in 2 months and all ima say is that walking is king!!! Especially walking every night after eating dinner .
You don't lose fat because insulin resistance, stop eating carbs, sleep well, drink a lot of water daily, suplement your body with magnessium citrate and potassium citrate and do HIIT (high intensity interval training).
Thank you... sincerely.
Great video I will try this brother appreciate your knowledge and expertise!
Thanks, point 2 was an assurance I needed in my self analysis process on whats causing the unceasing fluctuations.
Thank u!! Such good & honest advice..it gets u down sometimes but this gave me some extra motivation to keep going!!
Them love handles they stubborn as hell. I gained them during Covid and started working out consistently since last year. I built muscle and lost fat while staying the same weight but these love handles still there. I’m sure they are coming off and there’s no way I’m giving up now!!
Thank you for the video. what foods do you eat? do you have videos on that?
doing a 1200 calorie intermittent fast for 8 weeks, then going to have 1700-1800 for another 4 weeks then ill finally be where i want to be then i can just do strength training while eating at maintenance
Great advice 💪 I'd definetely recommend reading a book Health and Beauty Mastery, worked wonders for me
Where can I get a shirt like that?
God, another guru that never goes beyond common knowledge.
Thanks for the relationship advice 👍🏻
I love that concept of letting go
Where are the comments that give summary of the video?
I met a PT who had me track my weight everyday for 90 days. He forcrd me to track all my food.
100 cals deficit a day with lifting and walking. I lost like 20 lbs in that time.
It works .
I don’t disagree. I stumbled on something similar - limit calories while eating plenty of protein and weight training. It’s really that simple.
Great video as always man. Also, where can I find that shirt? It’s sick
best advice ever! direct to the point..no BS!. thanks!
Really simple lovely video. Saved. Subscribed.
There is also body recomp as in if you’re lifting weights you will not see much weight loss at all but you will see weight gain 😅 remember muscle weighs more then fat
The wipes being shoved down my throat was hilarious 😂
Sublime ... no chugging, brilliant :-)
Calorie deficit AND low blood sugar levels...those are the two keys things. Calorie deficit and high blood sugar levels all day and night, you won't burn fat...add in some zone two exercise, and you'll drop fat super fast.
Big fan of the channel
How do I calculate my maintenance calories ?
I've been intermetring fasting for one year now to keep my weight, plus weight training. The critics are coming from left and right
what exact device do you suggest to track 10,000 steps and calories in/out ?
A good one I found that combines some of that into trying solve the making new habits puzzle is "Atomic Habits."
Thanks for making this video.

Yes! Nice and simple
This came up on the algorithm great advice
Very helpful video! Thank you ♥️
That's a nice shirt bro where did you get it?
lol 🤦🏻♂️
Great Message! Thanks!!
Advice needed please:
I am 5ft 9, 75KG.
Cheers
Thanks for the video. Nice shirt what brand is it ?
there was a video on UA-cam that hit pretty hard for me .. don't date while losing weight.
i agree totally to what you are saying because that is exactly what i'm doing right now
Thanks for keeping it real.
Thanks for the video! I went another way and to the date I’m minus 27 kg now. Making updates on my instagram (the same username). Anyways I’d like to add that you were absolutely correct about the drinking stuff (sugared drinks) - that’s one of the most crucial factors imo.
Wanhee, can you please make a video on your take for lower leg development. I mean below the knee to feet. Will be much appreciated. 🙏🏽
Lol @ stock market stuff 🤣. Great video!
Haha, watched this video walking on my treadmill 😹 guess I'm on the right track! Thanks for the video
How do suggest losing fat and weight if I have mild osteoarthritis and have knee pain after just like1 hour of working out?
