I never hated lootboxes. They made me a bit frustrated when I got 3 commons but still didn't want them gone. Now that Overwatch 2 exist, I REALLY don't hate lootboxes. I played for 6 years I think it is and this game we have now isn't Overwatch. It's a disgusting attempt at an already rich company trying to squeeze money out of their players. Nothing they changed in Overwatch 2 required Overwatch 1 to die.
The thing that makes me so angry about the PvE cancellation is that they could have done SO FUCKING MUCH, they had the biggest foundation for a story (basically a second omnic crisis but now you are playing during the storytelling), they have a skill tree that people can mix and match depending of their playstile for Every. Single. Hero. and by having rewards at the end people will endlessly play it to get the rarest cosmetics and who knows what else! And it would have worked even if it wasn't good simply because it already happened in other games: COD Zombies was a buggy mess back in WAW, but they kept going and now it's basically another IP entirely. TF2 Mann vs Machine has all the things i've described and even if it's like 10 years old now there are still people playing it, discussing strategies, and getting golden frying pans. Fucking DOTA started as a mod of Word Of Warcraft 3! I'm so fucking pissed...
And even more ridiculous is that they had the demo, back in (I don't remember the year but that was a LONG time ago), and didn't they show us gameplay a few times already? What was the problem? I'm sure the multi billion company could fix some bugs even if there was like, a ton of them

I played Overwatch and I honestly don't know what's going on, OW2 is really a con that a lot of people fell for because it's truly just a medium-sized update to the original game. By that logic we'd be at TF5 by now (Free2Play update, MvM update, MyM update)
I mean, the guy coulda liked Overwatch too. It's not a 'You're with them or against us' type of thing... That being said, I fucking hate Overwatch(it's PVP anyway) and Blizzard as a company, and I'll say even after all I've seen... The shit they pulled here did actually surprise me.
Paladins is carried by it's sex appeal because it knows there's nothing much interesting about it besides it's setting. Beyond that... it basically has no content and nothing is done with that really interesting setting. I guess the gameplay's alright, though.
Overwatch is not a good game but it's not a horribly terrible one. Most certainly there's some poor management and balancing problems. And yet most of their old characters are fun to play as and their stories kinda fine. It'd be great if Blizzard considered listening to the community and fans... Maybe... We'd live in a world where Overwatch would be a fun to play game for longer than 5 minutes of Reaper flanking.
The problem here is that OW2 does not have a PvE mode, and never will have one. That means no playing alterate gamemodes. Its why Engineer is so angry in the video. He was promised a PvE mode for the game, and Blizzard backtracked on what they promised.

When OW first came out, a ton of UA-camrs, from what I recall, were saying it was going to kill TF2, and so the TF2 community knee jerked into a defensive response. Couple that with some sensitivity over the lack of support TF2 gets, and a sorta embarrassed anger started to form that hasn't really cooled sense. It's gotten better, though. I remember I also had contempt for the game. I think I'm still not a huge fan, but since I took a step back, I realized it's not really a fair compassion.

I've seen companies under-delivering and putting way too high expectations on themselves and just not living up to it, I've seen scams and unfinished games, features not being in the game at least on launch... but never a company completely cutting out a flagship mode that the game was literally made around and a major part of advertising.

Dota 2 also has amazing fanmade PvE gamemodes like EBF and horde mode which are easily accessible in the custom games tab
