@@MacGyver2154 That is AWESOME. We've been getting into walking shelter dogs & fostering ever since our incredible girl Kennedy passed away earlier this year. If you have social media where you share your projects, we would love to follow along!
Great video! Love seeing ambo conversions. I converted my 02 e450 quigley. Did some performance mods to the power stroke as well. I need to do a video on mine sometime. Happy trails!
You were in Happy Trails latest video so I followed you over. Really liked this first video so I subscribed. I’m in the midst of converting a 2012 Demer ambulance into an off grid camper. The original ambulance was 2WD and a gas engine. I’m not a fan of 4wd or diesel so I’m happy with that. I did have an ARB air lock installed in the differential though. That idea of 1/4 inch spacers between the rear wheels is something I might copy. I’m also going with a welded/riveted build rather than wood. I’m not a fan of wood for condensation and mold reasons. Also, I’m from Canada so I have more moisture issues than you do in AZ. If you’re interested you can find my conversion videos on UA-cam. Hopefully I’ll run into down the road, I’ll be looking up Happy next winter when I head south.
Super cool! Glad you like the video. We both just subscribed to your channel to check out your videos. We're prepping to build a house, so we've been watching a bunch of videos on doing a septic system & could use a break every so often. Hah. Sounds good! Perhaps we can have a small ambo meetup next winter.
Hi, could you go thru your thought process regarding the heater/cooler delete and re-install that is fed by the vans engine? I’m picking up my F450 with a 8’x13’ box tomorrow and I’m leaning towards removing that system and installing a heat pump made by Pioneer. It’s called underbench rv heat pump for $1100 if memory serves, all one box, not two separate components like a regular mini-split. My understanding is the factory system doesn’t work with the engine off(is that true?), and I want the headroom to do a standup shower in the pass thru.
Craig says that you are correct that the factory system runs off of the engine. We decided to put the heater/cooler in back in as a backup (we live in the HOT-HOT-land of Phoenix, AZ), but we also typically just run the vehicle heat/cooling while driving for the "box" for our dogs' comfortability. When we stop in warm places where we need to run errands, we just keep the dogs in the "box" with the RTX-2000/12V air conditioner on. The RTX-2000 has been WONDERFUL & doesn't use much of our power. Make sure you cap off the lines to the rear if you're removing to keep the front cab operational. Sounds like you know what you're doing though! Congrats on the new rig!!

Very nice build and a very well-detailed tour. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
Awesome build. You went with a almost identical layout as I'm working on in my e350 ambo. Great job on the first video. Looking forward to more.
Super cool & thank you! I just saw the "short" you made of your ambo, & I love it! LOVE vintage trucks.
A video about how you separated the electrical system from the front would be super helpful. Thanks!
