"Everything You Want" was one of my favorite songs in 1999... I was in my early 20s, popular song with that age of kids back then. Still love it and have it on the original 21 year old CD that I often listen to when I drive in my 2001 Toyota car. lol. I really liked the version performed at Woodstock in 1999. Also some others in there from the era such as New Radicals, Jennifer Paige, Bryan Duncan, etc.
I love it when the writers of the song share their knowledge with the rest of us. I have always loved this song and find it great that you would share it with us. Thank you so much and keep making great music!
Thank you so much. Heard this on the radio this morning and made a mental note to look it up. I love finding lessons taught by musicians like this. I will be playing it by the afternoon.
Matt - this is so good, thank you! Your music got me through some of the toughest times in my life...Vertical Horizon is the best rock band ever, as far as I'm concerned. You're the best
I Just Can't Get Over This Intro. This Song. is So Good. You Guys Should Make a Hour Long Loop of The Intro. I'd Listen to it On Repeat. Please Make More Music. ❤️🔥👍💯
@Matt Schannell... MANY TY FOR EMPAHISIZING THE "HAMMER" while playing this song, ever since this song and your album was released I've been playing this song and I know I'm doing it right but it doesn't sound the same... thank you for sharing this... not soo many Artist is kind enough to share their song and teach us how to play it properly!!! in my own analogy.. it can be sang in Jesus point of you or in Lover's point of view... this song really hits me.. I had loved this girl for a long a time.. I know I am everything she wants, everything she needs.. but I mean nothing nothing to her and I don't know why??? pls be safe.. your one of my gods....
I believe it is a Cadd2 but either work ; ) i feel bad for the beginners wanting to learn this from this tutorial cause little things like that would be REALLY confusing by just sayin C while looking like a G formation.
I love this song and you guys have amazing music that always felt, if I could write songs for myself, they would have been it, If that makes any sense.
I think “Everything You Want” is a great song and it came out back in 1999 when I was between sixteen and seventeen and I was a junior at the Henderson County High School during my 1999-2000 school year.
Matt, do you really think the Boss CH-1 Chorus will become extinct someday? Great Video, Love that you took the time to show us all one of our favorite songs.
I really appreciate the lesson video. I wish they displayed some graphics for us less skilled players lol. Do you not use a wah pedal at all on this song? Seems like I saw Keith use one back when I saw VH years back.
All great and good but the end was disappointing since I was expecting him to sing at least a little bit. We’ve heard the recordings many time by now. Even the regular people who upload their own videos playing covers or teaching how to play a certain song, usually sing a little.
Thanks for the tutorial Matt, I’m going to have to try the part with hammering on chords. I’ve done that with single notes but not chords as a relatively new player. 😅
Besides the use of tech for the sound in the intro, the fact that the intro looks easy makes me want to pick up a guitar and actually playing. Thanks Matt, you guys really make great music
That moment when you search for a guitar tutorial on a song only to find the man himself showing you how to play it. This is great!
Totally unexpected...awesome!
If only more artists did their own tutorials.
Right??!?!!! I'm like "who is ....oh wait nevermind"
The moment someone writes “that moment” for the billionth time on the internet.
I know right!! How just amazingly human and kind. Respect!
How friggin' cool is that you're giving this lesson !!!??!!
Thanks Matt!!!!
I always thought the verse had a delay!
Nothing better than learning from the man himself! :)
Awesome! I always thought the lead part was an a rotary in stereo with one side pan down. Very cool it’s all in your fingers

love it so much. I remember how my brother introduced me to songs from those alternative bands because all I was liking were the boybands hahaha
Woodstock 99 was a class on its own.. Korn, Metallica. Limp Bizkit, Kid rock.. etch..... it was the best
Because you’ve mentioned those names, I know You’re a beautiful human being. ❤
Your cover sounded really good, hope Vertical Horizon sees this In case they need a guitar player to sit in, you would be a dead ringer. ;)
I love it when the writers of the song share their knowledge with the rest of us. I have always loved this song and find it great that you would share it with us. Thank you so much and keep making great music!
How wonderful to take your time out to raise the bar for those that want to learn songs right
Best song EVER! This song is why I continue to play music. Great video. Thanks Matt!
I can't play guitar, I'm just here to see Matt. I love you!
I love it when guitarists teach their own songs, with explanation about the pair tone, the way to play it, little backstories …
I have loved this song for many years and now I'll be able to play it!! Thank you Matt for kindly putting this together so well.
Seriously, thank you Matt so much. Awesome songwriter and musician takes time for us. Coolest ever!
Great to see you in action, and THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!!! So fantastic and amazing to have that.... Very grateful!
Where are you guys?? Miss y’all...
Hands down one of the best bands of the last 20 years. Let me know if you all ever need funding to go back into the studio. I’d invest in you!
Huge thanks for this. One of my all time favorite songs and I can say I learned from the man himself...thanks brotha!!
Thank you so much. Heard this on the radio this morning and made a mental note to look it up. I love finding lessons taught by musicians like this. I will be playing it by the afternoon.

Awesome, cheers Matt! It's really interesting to see the chord voicings you actually use and the lead parts :D
Matt uses all sorts of uncommon chords everywhere, it's great - and frustrating ;)
Beautiful song played by a beautiful man on a beautiful guitar. ❤

Wow!
Thank you so much.
One of my favorite songs.
Those C chords look like a Cadd9 chord. I love that chord. Thanks, Matt.
I believe it is a Cadd2 but either work ; ) i feel bad for the beginners wanting to learn this from this tutorial cause little things like that would be REALLY confusing by just sayin C while looking like a G formation.
@@brianlove6953 yeah I thought it was a cool add 9

Lessons from the man himself. Thank you. I’ve been listening for years.

Wrong. This guys not playing what Vertical Horizon does
He’s their lead singer dude.
@@Nazaba09 but he's not playing it the way Matt Scannell does
