@@catalyst772 Huawei is the greatest industrial IP thief of all. But indeed it shows that if a company has access to all IPs they can do a great job. But I believe it would be true of European companies too had they access to all these IPs for free. Mind every company in the world attempt to do it. But here is state sponsored and even the Chinese laws force companies that want to produce in China to give their IPs.
The issue with your argument is that you are talking about a Chinese phone that is not cheap. Even stealing all IPs you still have to pay the components quality (especially since most chips are not made in China).
And that these companies are subsidized which is in fact a misnomer as these companies are effectively owned by the Chinese government. So these are not really subsidiaries. The concept of a private company being helped by their government does not hold. These companies are private only on facade (especially Huawei...)
You even had Oppo knowingly refusing to pay Nokia for the use of its IPs. They know they are the culprit ... So they stop selling in France and Germany but continue for the rest of the world. And do not pay a cent. Our capitalist world is not good. But China is a mafia.

As a young german involved in politics, this stance by our government is simply unacceptable.
Especially because this does not reflect the german public. Outside of the globally significant companies like VW or Daimler or financial institutes like Deutsche Bank, the economy is begging for a change in policy towards market distortion, especially from China. Small and medium-sized businesses are hurting under the pressures of cheap chinese components and goods.
Unfortunately, the german lawmakers are still spooked by how much the russia connections literally blew up in their face. Unfortunately, their trust in the U.S. as a reliable trading partner has also diminished following the inflation reduction act, which was a slap in the face for european economies, with Germany taking the full force of its consequences while also having to buffer some of the EU wide consequences through their EU budget contributions.
We need to get the EU and US back on closer terms as effective deterrents against the rise of authoritarianism, particularly China.

      Fires by Vehicle Type
You’re more likely to see a gas car fire after a collision than an electric car fire, simply because electric vehicles aren’t as common on the roads as gas vehicles. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that electric vehicles are less likely to catch fire.
To find the rate of car fires by vehicle type, we collected the latest data on car fires from the NTSB and calculated the rate of fires from sales data from the BTS. Take a look at what we found below.
Hybrid, gas, and electric car fire statistics
Hybrid vehicles actually come in number one with the most fires per 100K sales. Gas vehicles are second, and electric vehicles place third, with only 25 fires per 100K electric vehicle sales.
Based on this data, electric vehicles don’t catch fire nearly as much as the news claims. Hybrid cars seem to be the most dangerous for fires, followed by gas vehicles.
The 10 Car Fire Statistics in the UK
About 100,000 car fires happen in the UK each year.
There were 19,256 serious road vehicle fires reported from July 2022 to June 2023.
Vehicle fires accounted for 29% of primary UK fires.
Car fires have increased by 3.8% from the previous year.
      From 2022 to 2023, 239 EV-related fires were recorded.
Hybrid vehicles have an average of 3,474 fires per 100,000 sold.
Petrol and diesel cars are almost 20 times more likely to catch fire when compared to EVs.

It's not as if Germany is the only European country that was heavily dependent on Russian gas, but unlike most others, it has managed to break away from it within a very short space of time and is the biggest supporter of Ukraine after the USA. At the same time, it is not surprising that it is primarily France that has a great interest in punitive tariffs, as French car manufacturers sell virtually no cars in China, unlike their German counterparts. I think it would make more sense to wait and see how the manufacturers' sales figures develop and only act when there are clear signs of a loss, otherwise you could make your position worse than it actually is.
In contrast, of course, the American car manufacturers would be virtually defenceless against the Chinese if it weren't for these high tariffs, which might soon be raised even further.
I think we should generally be careful not to make ourselves too dependent on China, but the same should also apply to the USA and, in addition, we should turn tail at the first sign of a threat, especially when you consider that there is so much cheating in China and most of their manufacturers are selling at a massive loss. In a healthy market, their manufacturers would probably not be as strong as some would have us believe

You can't do that. Without Germany, the EU is broke. Germany was, shortly after Brexit, the only major net payer in the EU. Some nations broke even (Denmark) or paid a little (Luxemburg), but Germany is where the EU money is coming from.
As a German, I am 100% pro Dexit. 3-5% GDP permanent drain is not worth it.

      ICE Vehicles Spontaneously Exploding
In October 2021, Consumer Reports reported that diesel Ram trucks were recalled for fire risk and noted that owners should park outdoors and away from structures or other vehicles until the free solution was available and completed.
In June 2021, Click2Houston reported that over 6.5 million vehicles were under recall because they could catch fire at any moment. The list of brands did not include Tesla, and the cars in question were not EVs.

No, they use about 75% of the Energy and ICE only 25 to 30% into driving from Oil.
It would be even more efficient to burn the Oil to make electricity. Modern Power plants have 60% Efficency and the Rest heat can be used in district heating...those already exist and are running...but still to many old ones.
      Those have 85% of efficiency.
It is also about using Oil with care and not wasting in antique technology like ICEs.
