Thank you for posting this. I've always wondered how structures like this were built in modern times so this is really cool to see how you do that. By the way, the guy on your crew has some amazing footwork skills too! 98% of people would go right in the water jumping around like that :-D
Hope it went well for you, marine construction is definitely harder than it looks and it’s tough to get the company going because you gotta devote some time and a lot of loans and paperwork getting the equipment etc. but once you start lining up jobs and perfecting your system of doing things you’ll start moving through some work. It’ll just eat up a lot of time and money until the checks start coming in and depositing.
Those pilings are lined up perfectly. I suppose you use batter boards to run the strings. How do you know where to put the batter boards ? Do you eye it before you pull the strings? Would 6 inch pilings be enough on a lake? I know strings are simple but important. Just a suggestion. Could you possibly show how you setup the strings on one of your next jobs? Keep up the good work.
I need some of that fine marine lumber to capture 750 feet plus of 3/16 inch stainless cabling instead of spindles for a local job of mine. You do phenomenal work as you know.
We had a whole bunch of that cable here and somebody bought it just the week before last I’m sure more will show up. Thanks for watching. facebook.com/Hickmansreclaimeddockwoodforsale/
I lived in the remnants of an old float camp for around 20 years and always wondered how all this stuff was done. Now I wonder how they did this stuff back in the early 1900s when the camp was founded.
I can set a pylon faster than that vibratory plate. Not a bad setup though. We use a aluminum barge works pretty good. Was looking into the vibratory plate but prob not now though. Thanks.
How much do you charge a foot to set the pylons. I have a marine construction business and I'm just trying to make sure were competitive with our prices. Great work! I gotta get me a barge like that.
Hi! I'm working with marine Construction in Sweden. Thinking about getting one of those vibratorplates. What kind of bottom is there in the video? Sand, gravel or Clay?
Hi Oskar thanks for commenting and watching my videos. We mostly have sand and mud up here if it’s a real fine white sand we have to use a little water jetting to help the vibrator hammer.
Absolutely did not need to drain your whole pond. What if all your measurements are off once buoyancy comes into play. Also should have left space between the planks on the dock to prevent standing water. And tuck your thumb in when 2 using a saw!
MattD1089 Matt thanks for your comment yes the pilings are Southern yellow Pine they are treated for our marine environment. Which is 2.5 CCA that’s the highest treatment allowed in Florida waterways.

I did this type of work over in Gulf Shores prior to joining the Army in 2017. Moving back there soon to start my own company! Pretty exciting.

I feel like I did some of that stuff when I started with my dad in 1979 Haha he did not believe in equipment he believed in the manual labor 😏💪
@@DaleWHickman Sounds just like my old man. A bygone era indeed!
@@DaleWHickman my Dad was the same we worked hard with hand tools, safety was frowned upon!

Hi!
I'm working with marine Construction in Sweden. Thinking about getting one of those vibratorplates.
What kind of bottom is there in the video? Sand, gravel or Clay?

Ok, thank you for your replay.
Great videos, and nice looking job your doing!
What size excavator and what vibrating plate is that?
I'm pretty slow, just realized a 'House boat' and a 'Boat house' are two completely different things.
Sir , Good morning, May I ask someone you know how to build the shipping container in the lake front of Lucerne, Ca ?

Thanks for your comment. I really don’t see how it applies to this video. Maybe they got mixed up. Have a great day.
what kind of posts are the pilings? Is there a special treatment for them?
MattD1089 Matt thanks for your comment yes the pilings are Southern yellow Pine they are treated for our marine environment. Which is 2.5 CCA that’s the highest treatment allowed in Florida waterways.
Are there any techniques that you use in building docks, that would be beneficial for moving a beached whale? Trying to think of better way.
How much does a project like this cost?
To build a piling dock prices range from 20-40$ per square foot.
$$$$$
This is a new dock, not replacing an existing correct?
Jack Timbers thanks for your comment Jack. This is a new dock replacing what was there the pilings were to short and rotten this a new design.
Dale’s Marine Construction Inc. gotcha. So you need to put in new pilings. Cool!
Some are off centre in height ?
After poles are installed we shoot pilings with a laser level and cut them all off to the proper elevation. Thanks for your comments👍
If ya learnt to frame as ya go no one wld ever have to be in the water,oh you dont finish the framing etc just drivin pile
Thanks for watching and your insight we have Pile Driving crews and we have framing crews more production that way 👍
It’s by the Clearlake County, California, searching for one who build by the lake front.
Thanks for watching but sorry I could not help you with this. we only build within 50 miles of Pensacola Florida
How big is the mini ex
Jeff Johnston The one in the barge is an older 308 cat and the one on Land is a year old 308 Cat 21,000 lbs
Jeff Johnston sorry I got confused on which video I was replying to I posted one earlier today with two cats in the video 🤷🏻♂️
Is that Randy in the water?
Gut cassidy and the sundance cheeseburger?
Easier for my guy to set the pile from the boat
Been there done that would have to agree to disagree with you on that one 👍😎
Thanks for the comment 🙂
