“Ms. Marvel” is an OKAY series in my opinion. It’s enjoyable for the most part, it has a fun style, it is well-shot and aesthetically pleasing, the acting is good (in particular that of Iman Vellani as the protagonist), the main character is likeable, the soundtrack is good, and the cultural aspects are interesting. However, a lot of the characters are cliché, there are some cringeworthy moments throughout, the CGI is iffy, and this show overall is a generic superhero origin story. Since I haven’t read any Ms. Marvel comics, I can’t comment on the change to the title character’s powers.
I really liked the show. I had some bad expectations bc some things I heard from people who I am guessing never even watched it, so if you can ignore it just check it out for yourself.
0:31 How in the heck does Kamala know about the kracked shield? Only a few people in the endgame battle even noticed before Cap almost immediately went back to past. Did they put the broken one in a museum or something?
Holding your family reunion at the arrival gate is an amazing sin. But unfortunately you should be sinning every airport in India/surrounding countries irl as opposed to the show
The two thing wrong with this series is apparently they might be making Kamala Khan a mutant instead of a inhuman. The second thing I hate is the show is six episodes long instead of being 12 episodes long.
Detective: I'm looking for a man, maybe 54 or 55 years old, 6'3" definetly killed a man and is covered in blood. Dark skin and name is Dale. Little to no hair on his head, massive beard Small lady : Thats practically everyone here
9:03 extra sin: also, this part of the episode clearly missed an opportunity to make a "who's Jonathan?" joke tho. you see, few weeks ago, I saw a meme on a marvel memes facebook group for this very scene. it went something like this: **mjonir swings down** kamala: JONATHAN! zoey: who's john- **mjonir slams into zoey** I actually laughed my (redated) off when I first saw this meme and this sin is for the show clearly missing the opportunity to make a "who's Jonathan?" joke.
The Marvels was originally supposed to be part of phase 4 got pushed back to Phase 5. Plus you probably have to wait until phase 7 or phase 8 see the X-Men in live action again

In most Asian languages the meaning of a name is right there in the spelling or pronunciation.... So much more likely a thing for people from Asia but it's not like the same isn't true for English and the rest of the European languages, they just come from older versions of the languages or even older root language which no one speaks anymore and that is without mispronunciation becoming the norm. A great example is: the Latin name QUĬRĪNUS the name of an early Roman god, meaning armed with a specific type of spear used for defense, so also meaning defender, warrior and protector. The modern version from a similar region is Querino but the Spanish version of the name is Guillermo, German is Wilhelm and the English version of the name is William or for short Liam. So learn Latin and most European names will be direct meanings except that they have been mispronounced and written to all hell!
Low and behold, it’s already 1 year old!!! Another good MCU series Felt so refreshing to have a Muslim superhero showing more representation I love how we see Kamala’s imagination in the form of animated segments and paper cutouts Lots of stuff in here of the social climate of Muslims being targeted by the governmental authorities, persecution, tolerance/trust, still finding their place in the world since the 1942 British occupation, and easily being labeled as enemies This even shows a great deal of relationships between mothers and daughters, past generations, nations, and self-discovery I can't believe they brought back Department of Damage Control from Spider-Man: No Way Home Kudos to the creators being very authentic with the cultural aspect from the wardrobe to the music to its people to its customs, almost feels like a Bollywood production at one point Really dazzling visuals and fun action scenes too The finale was actually directed by the same guys who did Bad Boys 3 The creators might be alluding to the X-Men and the mid-credits scene looks like it's leading to Captain Marvel 2!!!
With how little I've watched cartoons of ms. marvel, and that being my only knowledge of the character. This looks just as good with Kamala except they replaced her powers with a much easier to CG in live-action power. I do think it lacks squirrel girl (for now... hopefully) The only thing I don't like is that her new power is much more flexible and can do a lot more than heer original power. Her original power was more interesting in how she had to use, but they couldn't afford to CG realistic expanding hands in every fight scene and went for the cheaper hard-light CG.
I got so bored with the terrible villains for this show that I couldn't enjoy the excellent leads' banter. This seriously should have been a bad-guy-of-the-week show.

100% agree as a Pakistani-American. They actually got real Pakistani actors and staff for this, so it is SUPER authentic to a fault. Even the stuff that drags on a bit, like the wedding is a signature of Pakistani dramas on a channel called ARY that is also popular in India. I loved that partition was a big plot point in it.

I would pay you guys money to work for you. You have my dream job literally. Now I'm going to suck up to you, because I don't want you to quit. The 1st thing I noted is that you weren't trying to copy Jeremy, which I've seen a lot in rip off UA-cam videos. Just sad. The cadence of your voice is amazing, it relaxes me immediately. Your pace, sense of humor, delivery of jokes, quips, and of course sins are matched by none. ( I am well aware that my grammar sucks. I am trying to improve that, because I have to teach my kids now)
The biggest sin of the show was to depict religious community absolutely unaffected by everything that happened in the Marvel universe. The writers were so focused on having faithful modern representation of that culture they absolutely ignored what would've happen to them if they were expose to magic, aliens, all superhero stuff that is beyond any comprehension and can't be really explained. Other than making new generation of nerds dressing up as real superheroes absolutely nothing changed, people worship their god and are focused on their own small problems. Really? The magic is real people! There is an american surgeon (probably atheist) who can bend time and space! He is a part of not so secret anymore ancient society of wizards who can do all kinds of weird shit like budling portals and control energy. Other than that large half of the population ceased to exist for 5 years. They didn't experienced afterlife, there was just nothing. How can you still be a believer after experiencing that? Yeah, your leaders can tell you that you didn't just die, because your soul was destroyed with your body, but if someone have the power to do that doesn't that make him more powerful than god? Why god didn't step in in such apocalyptic times and stop this? I really think that most religions would collapse in the Marvel universe with maybe small extremist group having some weird fixed interpretation of what happened. I know that faithful cultural representation is important, but you simply can't do that here, and make sense cause rather than having functional religious community in this world we would have a bunch of people with existential crisis.
Weirdly enough, most of this stuff is consistent with Islam and I think also Judaism, but as a Muslim I can only speak to the Islamic part. About the 5 years of people being gone, the Quran has a story like that. Aliens? actually consistent with some theories about Jinn and Ants mentioned in the Quran(specifically Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall's interpretation). The Quran has words like "allameen" meaning "worlds" as opposed to "world", that can arguably include time jumping to other worlds, quantum realms, alien planets, etc. And Magic? That is very much part of Islam, there is a book called Shams-al-Maaraf, which I had never heard about but is apparently well known to other Muslims and its about the occult. Muslims are very much against that stuff including that book but it is a part of our historiography. I don't think Thanos would be suspected to be Dajjal, because he didn't exhibit any of the other qualities of Dajjal but I can imagine some opportunists would pretend to be Imam Madhi in the Marvel universe, in a manner similar to what Mysterio did. Most people would not believe him like they didn't when in real-life a group attacked the Ka'abah in the 60s the Saudi response to which kind of resulted in the extremism you see in Wahabis today. Also in real life, COVID took out a lot of people, similar to Thanos. For almost a year there weren't outsiders doing Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage and for many months including the first Ramadan under Covid, we didn't go to mosques, we didn't throw Iftar parties as normal, but we still prayed at home and fasted. I remember returning the first time on Eid and we did social distancing and didn't hug as normal for Eid, I remember some mosques put khutbas(sermons for Friday prayers) online. We adapted but Islam remained.
@@jhonshephard921 I get your point, but Covid in comparison to stuff that happened in Marvel universe is really nothing. Yeah, people would have adapted, some people's beliefs wouldn't be that much affected if they found ways to interpret it similar way you did, but for most of the society I think there would be huge changes as all of this would shake our sense of existence to it's core. There was missed opportunity to really show how much we would change but that would require some out of the box approach and taking risk of offending someone. The way the community was depicted in the show was really nice but at the same time really hard to buy.
I like it but am disappointed they changed her power set. To just another color coded energy lady. Oohhh how original. Once you have 7 of them you can have the rainbow squad wow not cliche at all.

I liked watching Ms. Marvel. But I absolutely adored the father. He's such a good guy.
But he has a controversy...
The fact that they called Bruno ‘Brian’ in the subtitles 😂

Whatever you have to say about the show it felt really good for most south asians, to get represented in a non-stereotypical way .
