Sims 3 horses seems to have more and in my eyes the breeds seems to be more realistic and have a bit more visual differences in them than the sims 4 versions.
And the fact that horses were just one of many animals in a single expansion pack at Sims 3, just makes it worse for Sims 4. Since it managed to have less features than it's antecessor with a whole expansion pack just for ONE animal
Yeah, to compare the two...Sims 4 horses kinda look ugly. I know it's because the graphics and rendering is more cartoony, but I honestly prefer the Sims 3 look.
It's kinda insane that horses were SO MUCH better in The Sims 3 even though they didn't have an exclusive pack and they came with the rest of the pets in a single EP. In TS4 they have their own IP dedicated to them and they are much more limited.
The worst part about Horse Ranch for me is no wild horses. I know that is sometimes would crash the game, but I have fond memories of my sim bonding with a wild foal and adopting it into the family. 😊
They could have had it locked to a single lot, they have lots where stay cats/dogs show up. I don't think it would have crashed the game, it's just another feature that got scrapped.
Honestly I don't see why they couldn't have had a wild horse trait for lots like they did with foxes. You didn't need to have more than 1 or 2 at a time
I suspect Sims 2 did a lot of the heavy lifting in the animations department for cats and dogs but they still managed to add a lot of things in one pack. I hope they quit cutting things out but if the rumors of Sims 5 being free to play like Fortnite are true... then we're gonna have darker times
A small detail about the sims 3 horses is just looking at them in CAS, they have a much deeper range of values in terms of color. Yes the sims 3 is more realistic anyways but even seeing the hair strains, the coat have a shine, and even when you chose to have the extra hair near the hoofs, it just looks a lot more believable. It's crazy that so much detail was put into those horses and then when I look at the sims 4 ones I frown because they look so flat in comparison. Not to mention I am always a sucker for the creative freedom you have in the sims three with customizing.
Yeah- honestly I like the manes in 4 a bit more just like I like the more recent hairs more than 3's hair and hairstyles. But the coat looks so much shinier and prettier. You can see muscle definition
Honestly for all the talk about Sims 4 horses "looking so good", the 3 ones seemed a bit more proportionate to me. Like the heads on the Sims 4 horses seem small. Also we got *8* more traits (4 claims their traits affect things more but honestly it's often less than 3) and a lot more saddles, bridles and blankets. And 3 was available with lots of other animals too. I could have seen horses being a main focus but they needed more side attractions like being able to find lizards and snakes (we still only have frogs in 4 and they haven't gotten any updates or anything and you can't interact with 'pet' fish) or a mechanical bull. I feel like unfortunately a lot of players now are younger who never played the older games so they think things are 'impossible' when they were readily available in earlier games

Mechanic bull came with showtime. I love the sims3 but its poorly made, it doesnt use much ram which makes the game lag (if you want it to be better, you have to change it yourself in game files) you have to match your graphics card too because it wont recognize newer GC's etc. Without mods like NRAAS your safe will collapse after a while (there is a tool that deletes too much data that builds over time on your save) because the game f. E generates too many stray animals, characters get stuck in the mountain areas of wordls etc, even the memory system puts too much strain on a game because they are generated for all people in the town. All townies and adopted children (+all generated by game sims like imaginary friend after turning to human form) have the same faces which isnt really cool if you want some uniqueness. I spent many hours trying to maintain my game so i can play it on a newer computer. So all the extra sims 3 additions were also a reason why the game worked and works so poorly
@@mmgs1148 This is a very important aspect people don't understand. The more you have, the more performance will be affected, especially over time. It makes sense that the Sims 4 would have less, especially with the better graphics. It all adds up and will cause issues.

There's a lot of open world games with a lot of content and customization and they work just fine, even Sims 3 works fine with some fixes and mods. Sims 3 Supernatural is my favorite, but it is not complete without Pets (imho). How does Sims 4 offer a pack primarily for horses, offering less than Sims 3 Pets? Same goes for Cats and Dogs? I am not exactly a horse person, but I truly enjoyed the wild horses in Sims 3 and the added depth of imagination of unicorns (truly fit fantasy worlds that I created, as well as those that still can be downloaded from the exchange). Why would anyone want less for more?
Well, I still think that sims 2-3 layers system was better. I get that it was more complicated, but breeding animals was so fun. I created ragdoll cattery in the sims 2 and every cat looked different.
I am so pissed sims 4 gallery stopped showing summary of uploads and downloads. The new ranch pack just makes me want to get sims 3 pets and just play that instead
TLDR; Sims 3 Pets (and Sims 3 in general) Is just so much better in every way. Like the person above me said - it’s way more bang for your buck. I haven’t played sims 4 for around 3-5 years now solely because of the sims team not fixing bugs, making multiple packs that could ultimately be in one expansion pack and with that, being so utterly money hungry. Sims 4 I would always find myself spending time making my sims and building a house and then would only spend a minimal amount of time on gameplay because I would just get so bored even with the around 10 packs I had! I ALWAYS find myself going back to Sims 3. I own Pets, Seasons, High End Loft Stuff and Generations. And I NEVER GET BORED. There is so much gameplay in each expansion pack and so many objects added in each one. With Sims 3 pets specifically, it’s just better all around. Instead of paying separately for Cats/Dogs, Horses and Hamsters (etc) that hardly do anything, you can have them all in ONE SINGLE PACK. Cats, dogs, horses - you can control. Some Horse related stuff in S3 that’s not in S4 - they have so many cool items. You can build your own jumping course for horses and racing courses. There’s wild horses and ACTUAL Unicorns (not just a horn) which you can tame but it takes time to build that relationship to do so. The animations of riding horses are actually smoother and I would say more realistic than Sims 4 animations. And the Equestrian Center, there’s no actual gameplay during the competitions but at least there’s a pop-up that lets you interact and control how you race. Cats and Dogs are pretty much the same. I can’t think of anything that differs in gameplay at this point in time. And Wild Critters such as Snakes, Lizards, Rodents, Birds, etc. You can either buy them or find them in the wild. I haven’t explored much of My First Pets Stuff because it’s just horrible as we all know. But I’m pretty sure you have more interactions you can do with The Sims 3 minor pets. If you don’t want to waste hundreds of $$$ into a game that could add so many content into single expansion packs (and has shit gameplay + objects), avoid S4 and buy TS3 Overall - The Sims 3 Pets (specifically) is just better. And in my opinion, the entirety of the Sims 3 game is better than Sims 4.

In every other game, if you made a sequel to a series, mostly you will give the development team a bigger budget to be able to innovate and create new exciting features while also retaining the old ones. The problem with the series, is that EA do not seem to increase the resources the team needed to sustain this game as a "Sequel" For example, The Sims 3 Pets was able to add Horses into the game because most of the animations for Cats and Dogs was imported from The Sims 2. The Sims 3 Engine was an improved version of Sims 2 Engine which is why they can import animations and resources to save time and spend all the resources for a new animal horses. But then The Sims 4 comes along and it was mismanaged from the start. First off, instead of building of from TS3, they started from scratch because it was supposed to be a multiplayer game. Then because of a different engine, everything have to be recreated from scratch. It explains why everything from UI to Animations are vastly different than the previous games. They have to be done from scratch. No CAST, No CAW, No CAS, no B/B to start. Everything else is literally done from scratch. And EA really dropped the ball on this one. This game could be amazing and they COULD have redeemed themselves by releasing DLC that are outstanding. But EA being EA, why spend all of that, increase and invest more money, when simmers will buy the product regardless of quality? Cats, Dogs, Create a Pet have to be created without using assets from previous games. In The Sims 3, they could just port animals from TS2, but TS4 does not support four legged creatures at launch. Explains why we do not horses. They spend so much of the money just for reworking the engine for cats and dogs. But EA refused to aknowledge and increase the resources needed by the team. If I have to guess, they give the same budget that they have in TS3 EPS for TS4 EPS Rather than increasing it. Because everything have to be made from scratch in TS4, so much of their time was taken away just by building base features. Its dissapointing actually. Imagine if Ubisoft gave Assassin's Creed Valhalla the same budget that Assassin's Creed 1 have in 2007. The team will either innovate or cut content. I mean even Island Living Suffered from this. They spend so much of their time reworking their engine just to enable ocean swimming to the point that it costs them so much that they have to cut a lot of features because of the lack of budget. If I have to bet, this is the same thing happening in this pack. Its pathetic that EA refuses for this franchise to grow simply because their customers keeps buying their lacklasture products. They have budgets for Kits, but not for gameplay objects in an Expansion Pack?? If I had to guess, they don't treat these content drops as DLC anymore, but as glorified Mictrotransactions.

S4 create tool is more advanced, but Idk it's a bug or not, but all the newborn horses in it are carbon copies of either of a parent. Like, all the marks are the same, it creates clones.
What I've heard from actual horse-folks is that bit is actually pretty realistic, foals tend to favor mom or dad, not mix. Or even pick up recessive traits in both and look like neither and maybe look like a horsey grandparent.
I still like the sims 3 horses. They look more like real horses. The sims 4 they have almost gummy bodies, and their necks are thinner with smaller faces. They look more like big ponies than horses to me. The neck is just so offputting to me.. its like a dog

My Sims 3 unicorn looks like a medieval legend made real. You can see every hair because of the attention to detail. We know Sims 4 would have just made "pretty sparkly, rainbow" unicorns for the kiddies right? Sims 3 is M rated (ages 15+) in my country and Sims 4 is PG (UNDER 15, Parental guidance recommended) so it would literally just pander to the kiddies. It has no option now because of it's kid friendly rating. I love Sims 3 so much. I'm still new to Sims3, but I'm glad I jumped ship from Sims4.
It's so weird that they would give you the option to add a glowing decorative fake horn in sims 4 instead of just making unicorns one of the horse breeds (maybe with a special character trait) or if you want them to stay mysterious and everything just give us a slim chance to adopt a unicorn like the game already does with taimed foxes in cats & dogs. Instead with the way they decided to do it, it just comes off as somewhat mean spirited to me? Like by not leaving unicorns out of the pack completly, they aknowlede that they know their customers would have wanted them but they just don't want to give us this feature. Either this or they plan to add real unicorns in a later pack.... which is probably it...
The horse's in the Sims 4 look like cartoons... Rly don't like them. The hats are super damn cute tho. Winner for me is the Sims 3. As usual really. It's not the horse ranch that convinced me to try Sims 4 for a 3rd time 😂
As a horse nerd... wtf is TS4's Percheron ?? They're supposed to be big and round draft horses and most often have gray or white fur, this just looks like a random black horse.
Black Percherons are not uncommon (AFAIK they are more popular in America than in Europe though, but I'm not sure about this, might've just pulled this statistic out of my arse lmao), but yeah otherwise I completely agree. I'm glad TS4 at least included them, but man, they just look so... basic. Percherons are famous for their strong but elegant build with beautiful curves, EA did my babies so dirty 😭 TS4 Friesians also lack some curves but at least it's an easy adjustment.

Just a note: The Galineer's Cob in ts4 is the same horse breed as the G**sy Vanner horse in ts3. Both names have been used to refer to the breed over the decades but the one name is slowly being phased out due to the name containing a slur.

To be honest, at least in Sims 4 they tried with horses and they are certainly not as chic as in Sims 3, but they will do. In Sims 3, horses just looked more realistic, like they were alive.
I always loved horses since I was a kid. For some time I was quite literally obsessed with them. I really enjoyed playing with the animals in ts3, especially horses, ignore my sims and have the animals go on adventures by themselves. Ts3 pets delivered whatever I was hoping for. Ts4 horses are just sad imo. I really hate how they made them look. I get it isn't supposed to be realistic, but why do they look like these cheap, rubber toy horses from a drugstore? They don't even look like they belong in the same game, just the way they were drawn is even more exaggerated than sims themselves. I dislike how they made their eyes so big, blurry and almost pixelated, they resemble bugs more than actual horses. I don't know how much the sims 3 pets were in terms of costs at the release (or at least around the same time from release that ts4 is), I'd guess about same, maybe a little more, but for the amount of new features, the sims 4 horse ranch, with the content it came, for me is completely unacceptable being relatively similar price, but having 1/9 of what ts3 pets came with. Absolute disgrace.
Sims 3 ❤️ ( the better game ). I been done with sims 4 since cottage living and I'm not going back I can't the game is bad in everyway. Going from sims 3 to sims 4 feels ew. I rather do the extra stuff i need to do to get sims 3 to run good on my Rog Ally than play sims 4. Yes I'm playing sims 3 on a portable pc its amazing and a dream come true.
I don't know if it's a mod that I have (I don't think so) or an expension pack (probably supernatural) but in the sims 3 CAS I also have an option to add and edit a unicorn horn and beard, it's not just accessories it's literally a section located in the Coat pannel, maybe you missed it ?
You're correct. I don't want to touch much on unicons since they're not a thing in Sims 4, I just mentioned the horn cause that's as far as they got (for now?)
The breeding in Sims 4 horse ranch is so disappointing no mix of coat genetics at all. Like what's the point of breeding at all then? Yeah it mixes physical attributes but no coat changes just a copy of parents, it's so lazy and stupid.
The Gelderlander (Gelderse) horse is a special division in the Dutch Warmblood studbook, just like the dressage, jumping and harness horses, so they are basically the same.
I'm almost certain they purposefully took unicorns out of the picture so they can resell them to us back in a new dlc for dlc. And maybe milk it some more and make pegasus, or alicorns even XD. At this point I kinda expect them to announce a new type of pack that's dlc for dlc, so that they can milk other expansions and shut people up trying to gaslight us into believing we're unreasonably angry. Am I overthinking this? Not sure, definitely a very pessimistic scenario, but I'm pretty sure they thought about it at least once or twice XD/
Ngl, I would be a little less mad if they added pegasus and other types of mytical horses. But that's just wishful thinking, they're likely just gonna lock unicorns in another pack

Sims 3: Coat color and patterning genetics wins, bonus is the option it lets you copy the coat of one animal say it's a done up Snow Leopard cat, you can place said coat onto your shortmuzzled persian breed. not able to freely paint like with Sims 4. Sims 4: body, fur genetics wins; ability to paint pets up more as you want is a bonus. I sort of understand why no copy coat option here, but at the same time...

No wild horses is actually a good thing for me, and well... normal. Like I don't go to town and meet wild horses on my way you know? Also it solves problem with spawning too many simcharacters in the world that would make game go slower. Cartoony style is reasonable, it would be weird to have horses in realistic full HD out of true world graphics, and then there are sims with plasticine hair. Like it wouldn't fit. TS4 was never about realism when it comes to look so why suddenly horses should be? I'm actually a fan of cartoony style and I have to say, when I see how horses from TS4 walks, I can almost feel their weight with all the bounces etc. horses from ts3 are too thin. That being said, I refuse to buy ANY DLC for the sims in full price, Im always waiting for 50% price in EA shop or local store, and I suggest you do the same.

I hate the stuff for the horses in the sims 4, although the cc does make it slightly better. Like they could've just straight up copied what they added in the sims 3, and they would have more. I'm still playing the game, just thought they could've done it better tho. I do like the western look on things!
I'm so mad we didn't get unicorns or pegasi in this pack. The only way you can actually get a unicorn is by putting on a hat and call it a day. I loveeee EA soooo much when they do this /s
It really depends on your preference, if you value freedom and customization then Sims 3, if you value control and aesthetic (like building, making sims, cartoony style) then Sims 4, if you just want to feel like you're playing with ants who have their own mind then Sims 2

I haven’t played sims 4 for around 3-5 years now solely because of the sims team not fixing bugs, making multiple packs that could ultimately be in one expansion pack and with that, being so utterly money hungry.
Sims 4 I would always find myself spending time making my sims and building a house and then would only spend a minimal amount of time on gameplay because I would just get so bored even with the around 10 packs I had!
I ALWAYS find myself going back to Sims 3.
I own Pets, Seasons, High End Loft Stuff and Generations. And I NEVER GET BORED. There is so much gameplay in each expansion pack and so many objects added in each one.
With Sims 3 pets specifically, it’s just better all around.
Instead of paying separately for Cats/Dogs, Horses and Hamsters (etc) that hardly do anything, you can have them all in ONE SINGLE PACK.
Cats, dogs, horses - you can control.
Some Horse related stuff in S3 that’s not in S4 - they have so many cool items.
You can build your own jumping course for horses and racing courses. There’s wild horses and ACTUAL Unicorns (not just a horn) which you can tame but it takes time to build that relationship to do so.
The animations of riding horses are actually smoother and I would say more realistic than Sims 4 animations. And the Equestrian Center, there’s no actual gameplay during the competitions but at least there’s a pop-up that lets you interact and control how you race.
Cats and Dogs are pretty much the same. I can’t think of anything that differs in gameplay at this point in time.
And Wild Critters such as Snakes, Lizards, Rodents, Birds, etc.
You can either buy them or find them in the wild.
I haven’t explored much of My First Pets Stuff because it’s just horrible as we all know.
But I’m pretty sure you have more interactions you can do with The Sims 3 minor pets.
If you don’t want to waste hundreds of $$$ into a game that could add so many content into single expansion packs (and has shit gameplay + objects), avoid S4 and buy TS3
Overall - The Sims 3 Pets (specifically) is just better.
And in my opinion, the entirety of the Sims 3 game is better than Sims 4.

In every other game, if you made a sequel to a series, mostly you will give the development team a bigger budget to be able to innovate and create new exciting features while also retaining the old ones. The problem with the series, is that EA do not seem to increase the resources the team needed to sustain this game as a "Sequel"
For example, The Sims 3 Pets was able to add Horses into the game because most of the animations for Cats and Dogs was imported from The Sims 2. The Sims 3 Engine was an improved version of Sims 2 Engine which is why they can import animations and resources to save time and spend all the resources for a new animal horses.
But then The Sims 4 comes along and it was mismanaged from the start. First off, instead of building of from TS3, they started from scratch because it was supposed to be a multiplayer game. Then because of a different engine, everything have to be recreated from scratch. It explains why everything from UI to Animations are vastly different than the previous games. They have to be done from scratch. No CAST, No CAW, No CAS, no B/B to start. Everything else is literally done from scratch.
And EA really dropped the ball on this one. This game could be amazing and they COULD have redeemed themselves by releasing DLC that are outstanding. But EA being EA, why spend all of that, increase and invest more money, when simmers will buy the product regardless of quality? Cats, Dogs, Create a Pet have to be created without using assets from previous games. In The Sims 3, they could just port animals from TS2, but TS4 does not support four legged creatures at launch. Explains why we do not horses. They spend so much of the money just for reworking the engine for cats and dogs.
But EA refused to aknowledge and increase the resources needed by the team. If I have to guess, they give the same budget that they have in TS3 EPS for TS4 EPS Rather than increasing it. Because everything have to be made from scratch in TS4, so much of their time was taken away just by building base features. Its dissapointing actually.
Imagine if Ubisoft gave Assassin's Creed Valhalla the same budget that Assassin's Creed 1 have in 2007. The team will either innovate or cut content. I mean even Island Living Suffered from this. They spend so much of their time reworking their engine just to enable ocean swimming to the point that it costs them so much that they have to cut a lot of features because of the lack of budget. If I have to bet, this is the same thing happening in this pack.
Its pathetic that EA refuses for this franchise to grow simply because their customers keeps buying their lacklasture products. They have budgets for Kits, but not for gameplay objects in an Expansion Pack?? If I had to guess, they don't treat these content drops as DLC anymore, but as glorified Mictrotransactions.

S4 create tool is more advanced, but Idk it's a bug or not, but all the newborn horses in it are carbon copies of either of a parent. Like, all the marks are the same, it creates clones.

What I've heard from actual horse-folks is that bit is actually pretty realistic, foals tend to favor mom or dad, not mix. Or even pick up recessive traits in both and look like neither and maybe look like a horsey grandparent.

I still like the sims 3 horses. They look more like real horses. The sims 4 they have almost gummy bodies, and their necks are thinner with smaller faces. They look more like big ponies than horses to me.

The socks for horses provide protection, and many of them provide specific types of protection, like polo wraps or coban.
My Sims 3 unicorn looks like a medieval legend made real. You can see every hair because of the attention to detail.
We know Sims 4 would have just made "pretty sparkly, rainbow" unicorns for the kiddies right?
Sims 3 is M rated (ages 15+) in my country and Sims 4 is PG (UNDER 15, Parental guidance recommended) so it would literally just pander to the kiddies. It has no option now because of it's kid friendly rating.

TS3 horses look more advanced graphically.
It's so weird that they would give you the option to add a glowing decorative fake horn in sims 4 instead of just making unicorns one of the horse breeds (maybe with a special character trait) or if you want them to stay mysterious and everything just give us a slim chance to adopt a unicorn like the game already does with taimed foxes in cats & dogs. Instead with the way they decided to do it, it just comes off as somewhat mean spirited to me? Like by not leaving unicorns out of the pack completly, they aknowlede that they know their customers would have wanted them but they just don't want to give us this feature. Either this or they plan to add real unicorns in a later pack.... which is probably it...
Yeah, they're likely including them in another pack. It just sucks that Sims 3 included so much while Sims 4 is doing the minimum

They're supposed to be big and round draft horses and most often have gray or white fur, this just looks like a random black horse.
Black Percherons are not uncommon (AFAIK they are more popular in America than in Europe though, but I'm not sure about this, might've just pulled this statistic out of my arse lmao), but yeah otherwise I completely agree. I'm glad TS4 at least included them, but man, they just look so... basic. Percherons are famous for their strong but elegant build with beautiful curves, EA did my babies so dirty 😭 TS4 Friesians also lack some curves but at least it's an easy adjustment.

Just a note: The Galineer's Cob in ts4 is the same horse breed as the G**sy Vanner horse in ts3. Both names have been used to refer to the breed over the decades but the one name is slowly being phased out due to the name containing a slur.

Well its time to horse around
To be honest, at least in Sims 4 they tried with horses and they are certainly not as chic as in Sims 3, but they will do. In Sims 3, horses just looked more realistic, like they were alive.
I always loved horses since I was a kid. For some time I was quite literally obsessed with them. I really enjoyed playing with the animals in ts3, especially horses, ignore my sims and have the animals go on adventures by themselves. Ts3 pets delivered whatever I was hoping for. Ts4 horses are just sad imo. I really hate how they made them look. I get it isn't supposed to be realistic, but why do they look like these cheap, rubber toy horses from a drugstore? They don't even look like they belong in the same game, just the way they were drawn is even more exaggerated than sims themselves. I dislike how they made their eyes so big, blurry and almost pixelated, they resemble bugs more than actual horses.
I don't know how much the sims 3 pets were in terms of costs at the release (or at least around the same time from release that ts4 is), I'd guess about same, maybe a little more, but for the amount of new features, the sims 4 horse ranch, with the content it came, for me is completely unacceptable being relatively similar price, but having 1/9 of what ts3 pets came with. Absolute disgrace.
This makes me want to play Sims 3 . Prefered Sims 2 back in the day. The horses in Sims 4 just look terrible.

Sims 3 ❤️ ( the better game ). I been done with sims 4 since cottage living and I'm not going back I can't the game is bad in everyway. Going from sims 3 to sims 4 feels ew. I rather do the extra stuff i need to do to get sims 3 to run good on my Rog Ally than play sims 4. Yes I'm playing sims 3 on a portable pc its amazing and a dream come true.
I don't know if it's a mod that I have (I don't think so) or an expension pack (probably supernatural) but in the sims 3 CAS I also have an option to add and edit a unicorn horn and beard, it's not just accessories it's literally a section located in the Coat pannel, maybe you missed it ?
You're correct. I don't want to touch much on unicons since they're not a thing in Sims 4, I just mentioned the horn cause that's as far as they got (for now?)
Both are amazing, but they dropped the ball on some of them… like the unicorn horn not having any additional affects, the lack of a color wheel, etc.

The breeding in Sims 4 horse ranch is so disappointing no mix of coat genetics at all. Like what's the point of breeding at all then? Yeah it mixes physical attributes but no coat changes just a copy of parents, it's so lazy and stupid.

The Gelderlander (Gelderse) horse is a special division in the Dutch Warmblood studbook, just like the dressage, jumping and harness horses, so they are basically the same.

Hmmmm... I'm leaning Sims 3 here, but they do seem fairly equal to me in terms of features.

I'm almost certain they purposefully took unicorns out of the picture so they can resell them to us back in a new dlc for dlc. And maybe milk it some more and make pegasus, or alicorns even XD. At this point I kinda expect them to announce a new type of pack that's dlc for dlc, so that they can milk other expansions and shut people up trying to gaslight us into believing we're unreasonably angry. Am I overthinking this? Not sure, definitely a very pessimistic scenario, but I'm pretty sure they thought about it at least once or twice XD/

Sims 3: Coat color and patterning genetics wins, bonus is the option it lets you copy the coat of one animal say it's a done up Snow Leopard cat, you can place said coat onto your shortmuzzled persian breed. not able to freely paint like with Sims 4.
Sims 4: body, fur genetics wins; ability to paint pets up more as you want is a bonus. I sort of understand why no copy coat option here, but at the same time...
They should add layers to make genetics more interesting than just copy pasting the whole coat imo
TS3 overwhelmingly wins again. TS4 doesn't invest in details, play or content as previous teams did.

No wild horses is actually a good thing for me, and well... normal. Like I don't go to town and meet wild horses on my way you know? Also it solves problem with spawning too many simcharacters in the world that would make game go slower. Cartoony style is reasonable, it would be weird to have horses in realistic full HD out of true world graphics, and then there are sims with plasticine hair. Like it wouldn't fit. TS4 was never about realism when it comes to look so why suddenly horses should be? I'm actually a fan of cartoony style and I have to say, when I see how horses from TS4 walks, I can almost feel their weight with all the bounces etc. horses from ts3 are too thin. That being said, I refuse to buy ANY DLC for the sims in full price, Im always waiting for 50% price in EA shop or local store, and I suggest you do the same.

I hate the stuff for the horses in the sims 4, although the cc does make it slightly better. Like they could've just straight up copied what they added in the sims 3, and they would have more. I'm still playing the game, just thought they could've done it better tho. I do like the western look on things!

It really depends on your preference, if you value freedom and customization then Sims 3, if you value control and aesthetic (like building, making sims, cartoony style) then Sims 4, if you just want to feel like you're playing with ants who have their own mind then Sims 2
