"They're not gonna be beaten anymore." Death isn't the better option. The dogs are friendly, healthy and young. To put such a lovely animal to sleep isn't rescuing them. How is this law helping the animals?
I wish that one day that BS of a law is overturned permanently. And the people who created it are forced to apologize for their misguidance and unnecessary killings of innocent dogs. People are responsible for creating their dogs aggressive behaviors, not the dogs themselves.
It wasn’t meant to help the dogs. It was meant to help people. Meanwhile, the number of dog bites serious enough to need treatment went up since the law went into effect, so it turns out the law doesn’t help people either. Even if it did, killing dogs based on appearance rather than temperament or behaviour is the laziest and most disgusting policy ever. We’ve seen that even dogs previously involved in dog fighting can be rehabilitated, and it’s not even hard to do.
How sad that a breed is banned. I believe it's not the breed, but the lack of appropriate care/training on the human side that a dog becomes a problem.
Agreed. I'm actually more worried about a small dog because owners of small dogs don't think they need as much training or that they don't have to continue the training for the life of the animal.
My son has a mixed breed dog with part pitbull and he is the sweetest dog! He's a mix blk lab, boxer and pitty. Staffordshire is what the DNA testing came back...not pitbull. I think they're the same thing 🤔
@@theresarasche3173 Staffordshire bull terriers and American pit bull terriers are NOT the same. Pit bulls are a much larger/heavier breed and there are other significant differences. Not that I believe for a moment that there is any such thing as a bad dog breed........just bad owners, but the differences between the 2 breeds are real, hence your son's dog testing as staffy not pit bull.

I can't believe they kill the dog if it is a pit bull. They are the most loving, sweetest dog I've ever known. I fostered dogs for 6 yrs and I was one of the very few that would take a pit bull. I was bitten 5 times during and it was labs, terriers, German shepherd but never a pit bull.

This episode broke my heart. I can’t understand how someone can destroy a dog because the dog is a certain breed. I usually never cry when watching a program about dogs, but this just gutted me. They were beautiful and loving and I can see how it affected Inspector Hershey. I could tell that She was heartbroken 💔. I hope that they will change the law. Pit bulls are not always vicious. It’s not the dogs fault, it’s the person who owns and trains them.

They take them in and care for them. The breed of dog is not bad. It is the person who trains them to be mean and vicious. I don’t understand breed specific bans. My brother was mauled to death by a dog but it wasn’t a pittie. It was an out of control Chow. They should never put down a dog just because it looks a certain way. It should be entirely based on an individual dog’s behavior and only on that.

I had a German Shepherd when I was a child. She was my only friend until grade 6 and I have had a few in my life. My brother raised champion Pit Bulls. Neither breed ever bit a person, they are both loving and sweet breeds, for those putting Shepherds down here. You don’t know what you are talking about so look at yourself first and ask why. My girl sat under my desk at school everyday. The kids couldn’t wait for recess and lunch to play with her but Shepherds are extremely smart. If any adult raised an arm near me she would hold their arm gently until they changed their mind and put it down. She loved jumping rope and playing ball with the kids. She always had a way of finding a sad child and bringing them out. She always asked me first. Once I saw the child she wanted to go to was afraid of dogs but my girl already knew that. She made her laugh by rolling a ball to her instead of approaching.I only ever had one other Shepherd that was close to how smart this dog was. Pit Bulls and Staffies are not stupid dogs. They are loving, smart and protective too. People need training, not the dogs. They just need loving, food and Vet care. They all should be treated like family. I don’t know if I can watch this show again.
The story of the 3 wonderful &healthy pitbulls put to sleep broke my heart. I'm italian and I know people who own pitbulls, they're such sweet and loving dogs, I never had any problems with them and I definitely love this breed. What happens to these poor creatures just basing on their looks is totally unfair and I cried when the lovely RPCA office wiped her tears and said she felt guilty cos all she wanted was taking those beautiful dogs out of misery but she couldn't. Her job isn't an easy one and she also has her scars to carry till the day she dies. All my respect to her and to all the people who rescue animals every day and work hard to get those creatures a better life. Thank you for all you do for all animals, God bless you always guys ❤

The blame for the 3 pitties being put down falls squarely on the abusive and callous owner. The well-known [albeit misguided] ban law has been in effect for nearly 30 years. To then own 3 generations of females with the exact same pit bull confirmation would have required intentional mating to a male of similar breed. Had either the pittie daughter and/or the granddaughter come from a non-pittie father their confirmation would most likely not have qualified as banned. I also have no doubt the pittie puppies from these 3 females were sold for profit.

Absolutely zero cruelty from the RSPCA........they have absolutely no say in it. The law has been in place a long time and it is NOT the RSPCA who assesses the dogs, nor is it the RSPCA who decides which dog should be put down under the conditions of that law. This was very sad about the pit bull girls. I’m in Australia. I’ve had a pit bull who lived happily with my other dogs. She was so obedient and friendly to everyone she met. My son has a pit bull same friendliness and obedience. Though I HAVE known extremely savage pit bulls. Then again we find extremely savage other breed dogs. No one is putting them to sleep 😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞🙏🙏🙏
Pit bulls are such affectionate dogs. They love children and make excellent pets. I can't understand why the laws have not been updated. A dog will behave aggressively if he is trained to be aggressive and that goes for any dog breed.
This was by far the hardest episode to watch due to the Pit Bulls. I want to give rescuer Hershey a hug, poor woman. I think I would be crying as well if i was in her situation.
What I'd like to see if one of these politicians be given a "banned breed" as a puppy, raise them, and then 2 years down the line have them walk into their house strip them of their family pet, and then tell them based on LOOKS not a DNA test of temperament or training, that the dog has been killed (but they aren't really), then see how fast the legislation is changed. Only once it happens to one of them will they do the right thing.
My niece has two pit bulls and they are beautiful. Both are males, one is named Redd the other is Blue. I'm not afraid of them though Blue is more friendly than Redd who hangs back. Those pit bulls were beautiful and I can understand how that raspca officer felt. She saved them from an abusive owner only to have them put down. I used to watch Cesar Milan and so I know to walk into my niece's house like I owned it and not look at her dogs. But Blue was all over me wagging his tail and loved being petted and talked to. Redd was stand offish but he didn't scare me. I love dogs and live with 3 mixed breeds, they are different sizes, 2 boys and a girl. They are also older dogs, the girl is 16, one boy is 14 the other boy is 9. I love them and I'm not a youngster either. God bless.

Then moved out of Calif And my son had a PB puppy. I was scared, I did not trust, many emotions were involved -- BUT today my son's Pit is 3 years old --and I love him. When I come to visit... "DOC" Licks me SO much, very loving, gets his ball and lets me know he is ready to Fetch, and with no one else but me! I love Doc -- all that I learned in Calif. Was WRONG!! It depends how a dog is brought up... And some times a get a call: Gram -- DOC 8s missing you, he keeps going to front door and whines... "GRAMMM" Will you come play with Doc... Please! People who beat any animal should be hung up by wrists and beaten with whips, stix, bricks, everything.... Shame on humans to do this to our creatures... Shame on all of you!!!

The actor Patrick Stewart was devastated when he and his wife couldn't bring their rescued Pitbull back to England with them. I've helped to re-home 5 Pitbulls because of families that are moving to England and can't take their dogs. I'm shocked that this law is still in effect considering that the statistics show the number of attacks have increased over 40% since the ban. The breed of the dog has nothing to do with the likelihood of attack. I can't understand why it's still on the books.
I always say that there's no such thing as a bad dog. There are dogs who suffer from anxiety, ptsd, and abuse. All of which are a result of things out of their control. It angers me that certain breeds are treated like this.

We are taught not to discriminate against people by the way they look and they are doing exactly that to dogs. So sad that they can't find a better way to judge these dogs. My Heart is broken after I just watched the Video. But I think that it's not just the Law to blame. Even Though the reasons are in the very most cases pathetic towards those loving Dogs, it is just irresponsible to own a banned dog just for your own pleasure to keep a dog like this. As pathetic as the law is, it is a law and the consequences are known. So who really is responsible? The former Owner is, and that, representative for all the lives that have been taken unnecessarily. Even though I totally agree, that I would trust Pittys like I would trust really any other dog (always taking in consideration how they act as an individual) that is not the root of the problem. And in order to give any dog of any breed the chance it deserves, people and the way they are handling, treating and training their dog have to change. Like it was said in the video. Education for a good behavior towards dogs, knowledge about how dogs act and how to treat/approach them is key. And as long as kids run straight to a dog without having respect of a dogs personal space nor the knowledge of body language, there will be incidents and even death on both sides. Unfortunately, the people who need to gain awareness are not the ones, watching those Videos and most certainly not the ones to try to figure out what is causing troubles. And as much as some People love Pittys, Doberman, Rottie and Co. doesn't mean they can handle the energy, which also leads to potential Aggression which is not to be found in the DNA but in the environment even if it is full of love. And it doesn't matter if that aggression is coming from fear, insecurity, hormonal issues or whatever other reasons. And just as a fact: Big Dogs are always potentially more dangerous if raised poorly than a Chihuahua can ever be. So if you are thinking about having a dog, always take into consideration what you as an owner can offer. If you sit on your couch all day and think 30 Min. Walks are just fine, then please just step away from active breads that need much mental and physical stimulation (such as Pit Bulls) even though you might love them, and you know they can be the most loving companion.
I want to know if the RSPCA and other animal charities have been working to have the bad law regarding pit bulls to be put down rescinded. Reading the other comments and having a friend who had a gentle, friendly pitbull, the UK government should realize that it is an outdated law and it should be removed. A dog's temperament is honed by the owner not by the breed.

I nearly had my face taken off by a Pit Bull, but I love them and trust me it was the owner at fault. I have met many since then and they are beautiful if bought up correctly, sadness on having any dog put down because of Breed. 🙏🦮🐕
I'd trust a generic pittie over a generic shi-tzu any day! And it's far more common for a French bulldog or German shepherd to try to bite me than a pitbull (I work at a veterinarian clinic in Sweden). Pitties are generally very loving, eager to please and have lots of energy, but are also often a bit insecure. So as long as they get an outlet for the energy and the proper training to handle their insecurities they're among my very favorite patients. The only place I actually see pitties over represented with my own eyes is among the dogs actually happy to go to the vet and get examined on the table!
@@rachierich8015 it's common for insecure dogs to react with aggression, they feel like they need to defend against a threat. So it's far more common that an aggressive dog is a nervous dog that hasn't learned how to cope (or has learned that lashing out makes the scary thing go away}, than a dog that was trained to fight. Pitties are not the breed that requires training to be safe the most, they're just the most common among the breeds that require training to be safe to end up with owners who don't train their dogs.

My heart hurts for Inspector Hershey and all other Enforcement personel just trying to do the right thing for animals in need only to like she said basically sign their death papers. No dog is inherently 'bad' or 'aggressive'. My one neighbors' sheltie was more prone to biting anything that moved than my other neighbors' rottweiler who was a big baby scared of the freaking wind for goodness sake! And to have no real guidelines other than person to person 'hmm yeah that looks and measures like a certain breed' is mind-blowing. That law HAS to be changed! Killing animals indiscriminately based on breed prejudice and not per an individual animal temperament evaluation is appalling and so so cruel. I am happy for the puppies that found good homes!
I'm glad this talks about pit bulls. I am upset that they are a banned breed. It isn't the dogs fault that some pitbulls are dangerous. It is the owners fault with the way they bring the dog up. I used to have a Pitbull, she allowed my children to climb on her and sit in her chair with her. She saved my third child. He had stopped breathing in his sleep. She had gone into the bedroom then came racing out and showing she wanted me to follow her. She took me straight to the cot and jumped up which made me look at my son and notice him not breathing. If I ever get another dog it would be a Pitbull. Anyway any breed of dog can be dangerous because of the way they are raised. Pitbulls are beautiful, kind and faithful.
The story of the pitties broke my heart. How terrible that they're judged arbitrarily on their looks and not at all on their behavior. Also so sad that even the exempted dogs have to wear muzzles when they walk and can't socialize with other dogs. Most pitties are sweet, loving dogs. 😭

BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) has proven to be ineffective and has been repealed in certain areas, sadly not yet in England. BSL, fueled by media frenzy, fear and bias has been responsible for the destruction of healthy, loving PitBulls, regardless of behavior. ANY dog can be aggressive based on circumstance, taught behavior, lack of socialization or fear. Let's EDUCATE not DISCRIMINATE. If this disgusts you contact your legislative representative and demand repeal of BSL.
I have been attacked by a pit bull type and later on had my dog attacked by two of them in my front yard. HOWEVER. Both times I have seen their living conditions, owners and how they are treated. I do not blame the dogs or their breed at all. I blame the owners. Both times they were kept in small yards together ignored completely except to have food thrown at them. Never walked. Never socialised. Treated like wild animals penned up. I can't believe that in this day and age we decide on breed not behaviour or rehabilitation.
They should have contacted Villalobos Rescue in America. It’s a pit bull specific rescue. She would have flown over there to pick up those beautiful Pitties herself. They do the show, ‘Pitbulls and parolees’. After watching their programming I’m convinced that Staffies are demonized. What I noticed is that they’re violent with one another, but never a human. Whatever conditions they find them in, no matter how abusive, the dogs always wagged their tails and were very friendly. Despite what they’d been thru. They were bred to fight one another, not attack people. I’d be more worried about rescuing a stressed out chihuahua. Those type dogs bite people, frequently. Not pitbulls!
Actually, she doesn’t fly at all. She was on some late show in New York and drove all the way from Louisiana there. And then there is an issue of shipping animals internationally. There’s a lot of paperwork, micro, chipping, quarantine, and other stuff that comes with it. You can’t just put them on a plane like you could’ve person.
This made me sick. I know pit bulls are just wonderful dogs! There are more bites from labs then any other dog breed. People need to be educated about the breed.
Unfortunately pit bulls are responsible for more fatal bites. There are a lot of bad breeders who breed dogs indiscriminately without attention to temperament. Humans once again create the problem and animals get the blame.
My pitbull was THE BEST dog I've owned....she loved children, water, and other dogs and was taken from me by cancer....at 7 it was a terrible loss.....I'd have another now but at 76 I'm just too old to handle a strong young puppy...:o)

I think the laws against pitbulls are vicious and unjustified. All guard dogs need extra training to not be overprotective. Instead put in laws for more training instead of killing them.
I rescued a 7 week old Straty. also considered pit bulls. The most loving and very smart dog. I owned her for 19 years. Deuce was her name because of the two spots on her rump. I could not have lived with out her in my life. Deuce always in my ❤ heart and forever in my soul. Shame on some people.

Pitties are such sweet, loving babies. I'm wary around small dogs, - especially chihuahuas - not the bigger dogs. Give me a pittie, a rottie, a sheppard, or a cane corso any day above a little dog!
I prefer big dogs, but my issue was that people that are huge fans of very large guarding breeds are often folks who want them to be vicious so they can show off. My favorite mastiff is the Cane Corsonand when I look at UA-cam videos, so many of them are some dude showing off their vicious dog, snapping and growling unnecessarily. 😢 Such beautiful dogs who can be mannerly while still being protective.
Facts not normally known about PITBULLS: In the 14th and 15th century when a man's wife was confirmed to be pregnant, the kan would shop, and buy a PitBull -- Why? The PitBull Puppy was the Lady's dog -- was taught to protect the Lady, her and her tummy. The PitBull was even encouraged to sleep, nap, talk long walks, exercise gently -- this was to ensure the birth of a Healthy, Happy baby, AND when the child was born -- the PitBull was taught this was the PitBulls responsibility... Keep baby and mom safe FIRST!! ENGLAND'S pregnant lady's had beautiful, healthy babies thanks to the PitBull's protection -- go ahead look it up. I had always heard how dangerous the pitbulls were. I rescued a pitbull mix 4 years ago and she is the most loving biggest baby! She loves to cuddle and never barks at people only at other animals. She thinks everyone she sees is supposed to pet her! It makes me so sad to see these 3 dogs put to sleep instead of rehoming them!! You can see how friendly they were.
It's disgusting that 2 puppies from the same litter can be classed different. If you're going to ban a breed it should be based on genetics not "look or opinion". I disagree with breed banning all together. This is a disgusting and outdated law.
Reeducation on the pitbull breed is seriously needed. The views on them are seriously skewed and abhorrent. I happen to think that pits are an excellent breed. They're kindhearted, loving, and protective of the people that have them and also protective of their property. They're also very playful as seen in this video. People who choose to abuse, raise them for dog fighting, and other grotesque things should NOT be allowed to have animals PERIOD. What needs to change is the time frames as punishment. Owners found to've caused cruelty and maltreatment should NOT have animals anymore for the rest of their lives and charged more than the small fees which are a joke to me. True reeducation for the lawmakers are what's needed. Not more bans on this beautiful and loving breed.
The law needs to change. No dog is born aggressive. They are abused to be aggressive because humans think it makes themselves look tougher. Put the people down, not the dogs. If those dogs had been given to responsible people instead of destroyed, they could've had wonderful, happy, loving lives.

Agreed. I'm actually more worried about a small dog because owners of small dogs don't think they need as much training or that they don't have to continue the training for the life of the animal.
My son has a mixed breed dog with part pitbull and he is the sweetest dog! He's a mix blk lab, boxer and pitty. Staffordshire is what the DNA testing came back...not pitbull. I think they're the same thing 🤔
@@theresarasche3173 Staffordshire bull terriers and American pit bull terriers are NOT the same. Pit bulls are a much larger/heavier breed and there are other significant differences. Not that I believe for a moment that there is any such thing as a bad dog breed........just bad owners, but the differences between the 2 breeds are real, hence your son's dog testing as staffy not pit bull.

Incorrect. "Pit bull" does not exist as a breed except for the American Pit Bull Terrier which is only a modified Staffordshire Terrier and is not recognized as a breed anywhere outside the United States.

I can't believe they kill the dog if it is a pit bull. They are the most loving, sweetest dog I've ever known. I fostered dogs for 6 yrs and I was one of the very few that would take a pit bull. I was bitten 5 times during and it was labs, terriers, German shepherd but never a pit bull.

This episode broke my heart. I can’t understand how someone can destroy a dog because the dog is a certain breed. I usually never cry when watching a program about dogs, but this just gutted me. They were beautiful and loving and I can see how it affected Inspector Hershey. I could tell that She was heartbroken 💔. I hope that they will change the law. Pit bulls are not always vicious. It’s not the dogs fault, it’s the person who owns and trains them.

They take them in and care for them. The breed of dog is not bad. It is the person who trains them to be mean and vicious. My sister was mauled by a black lab. Bad owners who don’t train their dogs, abusive owners and terrible breeding are the causes for aggressive dogs.

I had a German Shepherd when I was a child. She was my only friend until grade 6 and I have had a few in my life. My brother raised champion Pit Bulls. Neither breed ever bit a person, they are both loving and sweet breeds, for those putting Shepherds down here. You don’t know what you are talking about so look at yourself first and ask why. My girl sat under my desk at school everyday. The kids couldn’t wait for recess and lunch to play with her but Shepherds are extremely smart. If any adult raised an arm near me she would hold their arm gently until they changed their mind and put it down. She loved jumping rope and playing ball with the kids. She always had a way of finding a sad child and bringing them out. She always asked me first. Once I saw the child she wanted to go to was afraid of dogs but my girl already knew that. She made her laugh by rolling a ball to her instead of approaching.I only ever had one other Shepherd that was close to how smart this dog was.
Pit Bulls and Staffies are not stupid dogs. They are loving, smart and protective too. People need training, not the dogs. They just need loving, food and Vet care. They all should be treated like family.

The story of the 3 wonderful &healthy pitbulls put to sleep broke my heart. I'm italian and I know people who own pitbulls, they're such sweet and loving dogs, I never had any problems with them and I definitely love this breed. What happens to these poor creatures just basing on their looks is totally unfair and I cried when the lovely RPCA office wiped her tears and said she felt guilty cos all she wanted was taking those beautiful dogs out of misery but she couldn't. Her job isn't an easy one and she also has her scars to carry till the day she dies. All my respect to her and to all the people who rescue animals every day and work hard to get those creatures a better life.

The blame for the 3 pitties being put down falls squarely on the abusive and callous owner. The well-known [albeit misguided] ban law has been in effect for nearly 30 years. To then own 3 generations of females with the exact same pit bull confirmation would have required intentional mating to a male of similar breed. Had either the pittie daughter and/or the granddaughter come from a non-pittie father their confirmation would most likely not have qualified as banned. I also have no doubt the pittie puppies from these 3 females were sold for profit.
Very upsetting those pitfalls are beautiful dogs they did not deserve that treatment from the owner or the RSPCA.Sad such cruelty . Voices need to be heard to end this slaughter.
Absolutely zero cruelty from the RSPCA........they have absolutely no say in it. The law has been in place a long time and it is NOT the RSPCA who assesses the dogs, nor is it the RSPCA who decides which dog should be put down under the conditions of that law. This was very sad about the pit bull girls. I’m in Australia. I’ve had a pit bull who lived happily with my other dogs. She was so obedient and friendly to everyone she met. Pit bulls are such affectionate dogs. They love children and make excellent pets. I can't understand why the laws have not been updated. A dog will behave aggressively if he is trained to be aggressive and that goes for any dog breed.

This was by far the hardest episode to watch due to the Pit Bulls. I want to give rescuer Hershey a hug, poor woman. I think I would be crying as well if i was in her situation.
What I'd like to see if one of these politicians be given a "banned breed" as a puppy, raise them, and then 2 years down the line have them walk into their house strip them of their family pet, and then tell them based on LOOKS not a DNA test of temperament or training, that the dog has been killed (but they aren't really), then see how fast the legislation is changed. Only once it happens to one of them will they do the right thing.

My niece has two pit bulls and they are beautiful. Both are males, one is named Redd the other is Blue. I'm not afraid of them though Blue is more friendly than Redd who hangs back. Those pit bulls were beautiful and I can understand how that raspca officer felt. She saved them from an abusive owner only to have them put down. I used to watch Cesar Milan and so I know to walk into my niece's house like I owned it and not look at her dogs. But Blue was all over me wagging his tail and loved being petted and talked to. Redd was stand offish but he didn't scare me. I love dogs and live with 3 mixed breeds, they are different sizes, 2 boys and a girl. They are also older dogs, the girl is 16, one boy is 14 the other boy is 9. I love them and I'm not a youngster either. God bless.

The actor Patrick Stewart was devastated when he and his wife couldn't bring their rescued Pitbull back to England with them. I've helped to re-home 5 Pitbulls because of families that are moving to England and can't take their dogs.
I'm shocked that this law is still in effect considering that the statistics show the number of attacks have increased over 40% since the ban. The breed of the dog has nothing to do with the likelihood of attack. I can't understand why it's still on the books.
I always say that there's no such thing as a bad dog. There are dogs who suffer from anxiety, ptsd, and abuse. All of which are a result of things out of their control. It angers me that certain breeds are treated like this.

We are taught not to discriminate against people by the way they look and they are doing exactly that to dogs. So sad that they can't find a better way to judge these dogs. There are other breeds that have the same potential to being aggressive. Do your research, don't just judge them by the way they look.

My Heart is broken after I just watched the Video. But I think that it's not just the Law to blame. Even Though the reasons are in the very most cases pathetic towards those loving Dogs, it is just irresponsible to own a banned dog just for your own pleasure to keep a dog like this. Even though I totally agree, that I would trust Pittys like I would trust really any other dog (always taking in consideration how they act as an individual) that is not the root of the problem.
And in order to give any dog of any breed the chance it deserves, people and the way they are handling, treating and training their dog have to change.
Like it was said in the video. Education for a good behavior towards dogs, knowledge about how dogs act and how to treat/approach them is key.
And as long as kids run straight to a dog without having respect of a dogs personal space nor the knowledge of body language, there will be incidents and even death on both sides.
Unfortunately, the people who need to gain awareness are not the ones, watching those Videos and most certainly not the ones to try to figure out what is causing troubles.
And as much as some People love Pittys, Doberman, Rottie and Co. doesn't mean they can handle the energy, which also leads to potential Aggression which is not to be found in the DNA but in the environment even if it is full of love.
And it doesn't matter if that aggression is coming from fear, insecurity, hormonal issues or whatever other reasons.
And just as a fact: Big Dogs are always potentially more dangerous if raised poorly than a Chihuahua can ever be.
So if you are thinking about having a dog, always take into consideration what you as an owner can offer. If you sit on your couch all day and think 30 Min. Walks are just fine, then please just step away from active breads that need much mental and physical stimulation (such as Pit Bulls) even though you might love them, and you know they can be the most loving companion.
I want to know if the RSPCA and other animal charities have been working to have the bad law regarding pit bulls to be put down rescinded. Reading the other comments and having a friend who had a gentle, friendly pitbull, the UK government should realize that it is an outdated law and it should be removed. A dog's temperament is honed by the owner not by the breed.

I nearly had my face taken off by a Pit Bull, but I love them and trust me it was the owner at fault. I have met many since then and they are beautiful if bought up correctly, sadness on having any dog put down because of Breed. 🙏🦮🐕
I'd trust a generic pittie over a generic shi-tzu any day! And it's far more common for a French bulldog or German shepherd to try to bite me than a pitbull (I work at a veterinarian clinic in Sweden).
Pitties are generally very loving, eager to please and have lots of energy, but are also often a bit insecure. So as long as they get an outlet for the energy and the proper training to handle their insecurities they're among my very favorite patients.
The only place I actually see pitties over represented with my own eyes is among the dogs actually happy to go to the vet and get examined on the table!
I have two pits and they adore the vets and my third pit who has passed also loved the vet outings!

@@rachierich8015 it's common for insecure dogs to react with aggression, they feel like they need to defend against a threat. So it's far more common that an aggressive dog is a nervous dog that hasn't learned how to cope (or has learned that lashing out makes the scary thing go away}, than a dog that was trained to fight.
Pitties are not the breed that requires training to be safe the most, they're just the most common among the breeds that require training to be safe to end up with owners who don't train their dogs.

My heart hurts for Inspector Hershey and all other Enforcement personel just trying to do the right thing for animals in need only to like she said basically sign their death papers. No dog is inherently 'bad' or 'aggressive'. My one neighbors' sheltie was more prone to biting anything that moved than my other neighbors' rottweiler who was a big baby scared of the freaking wind for goodness sake! And to have no real guidelines other than person to person 'hmm yeah that looks and measures like a certain breed' is mind-blowing. That law HAS to be changed! Killing animals indiscriminately based on breed prejudice and not per an individual animal temperament evaluation is appalling and so so cruel.

BSL, fueled by media frenzy, fear and bias has been responsible for the destruction of healthy, loving PitBulls, regardless of behavior. ANY dog can be aggressive based on circumstance, taught behavior, lack of socialization or fear. Let's EDUCATE not DISCRIMINATE. If this disgusts you contact your legislative representative and demand repeal of BSL.

I have been attacked by a pit bull type and later on had my dog attacked by two of them in my front yard. HOWEVER. Both times I have seen their living conditions, owners and how they are treated. I do not blame the dogs or their breed at all. I blame the owners. Both times they were kept in small yards together ignored completely except to have food thrown at them. Never walked. Never socialised. Treated like wild animals penned up. I can't believe that in this day and age we decide on breed not behaviour or rehabilitation.

They should have contacted Villalobos Rescue in America. It’s a pit bull specific rescue. She would have flown over there to pick up those beautiful Pitties herself. They do the show, ‘Pitbulls and parolees’. After watching their programming I’m convinced that Staffies are demonized. What I noticed is that they’re violent with one another, but never a human. Whatever conditions they find them in, no matter how abusive, the dogs always wagged their tails and were very friendly. Despite what they’d been thru. They were bred to fight one another, not attack people. I’d be more worried about rescuing a stressed out chihuahua. Those type dogs bite people, frequently. Not pitbulls!

Actually, she doesn’t fly at all. She was on some late show in New York and drove all the way from Louisiana there. And then there is an issue of shipping animals internationally. There’s a lot of paperwork, micro, chipping, quarantine, and other stuff that comes with it. You can’t just put them on a plane like you could’ve person.
This made me sick. I know pit bulls are just wonderful dogs! There are more bites from labs then any other dog breed. People need to be educated about the breed.

Unfortunately pit bulls are responsible for more fatal bites. There are a lot of bad breeders who breed dogs indiscriminately without attention to temperament. Humans once again create the problem and animals get the blame.

My pitbull was THE BEST dog I've owned....she loved children, water, and other dogs and was taken from me by cancer....at 7 it was a terrible loss.....I'd have another now but at 76 I'm just too old to handle a strong young puppy...:o)

I love Pittie Nation! I make a point of patting any pitties (after asking for permission) I see as I didn't realise many people cross the the street when they see them.
These dogs are banned for a reason. Majority of vicious or fatal dog attacks around the world ARE pit bulls. Pit bulls are the most ill bred irrationally bred breed in the world. There have been VIDEOS of a singular pit bull ATTACKING police on horses - an entire group of mounted police. Not even a lion or tiger is that irrational or demented.
During the 1940s through 70s when dog fighting was popular dogs that ATTACKED their owners or their owners' relatives were bred like rabbits into the gene pool.
A lab, a terrier even a GSD isn't going to grab you & shake you around like a god damn ragdoll. You aren't going to have to smash a GSD in the head with a pipe to try & get it to release a victim as has happened with pit bulls. You're not going to have to shoot a lab or a terrier in the chest or head to get it to release a victim as has happened with pit bulls.

I think the laws against pitbulls are vicious and unjustified. All guard dogs need extra training to not be overprotective. Instead put in laws for more training instead of killing them.
I rescued a 7 week old Straty. also considered pit bulls. The most loving and very smart dog. I owned her for 19 years. Deuce was her name because of the two spots on her rump. I could not have lived with out her in my life. Deuce always in my ❤ heart and forever in my soul. Shame on some people.

Pitties are such sweet, loving babies. I'm wary around small dogs, - especially chihuahuas - not the bigger dogs. Give me a pittie, a rottie, a sheppard, or a cane corso any day above a little dog!
I HAVE CHIHUAHUAS. I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU. LARGER DOGS ARE MORE DANGEROUS. MY CHIHUAHUAS ARE GOOD WATCH DOGS & COMPANIONS.
I prefer big dogs, but my issue was that people that are huge fans of very large guarding breeds are often folks who want them to be vicious so they can show off. My favorite mastiff is the Cane Corsonand when I look at UA-cam videos, so many of them are some dude showing off their vicious dog, snapping and growling unnecessarily. 😢 Such beautiful dogs who can be mannerly while still being protective.

In the 14th and 15th century when a man's wife was confirmed to be pregnant, the kan would shop, and buy a PitBull -- Why? The PitBull Puppy was the Lady's dog -- was taught to protect the Lady, her and her tummy. The PitBull was even encouraged to sleep, nap, talk long walks, exercise gently -- this was to ensure the birth of a Healthy, Happy baby, AND when the child was born -- the PitBull was taught this was the PitBulls responsibility... Keep baby and mom safe FIRST!! ENGLAND'S pregnant lady's had beautiful, healthy babies thanks to the PitBull's protection -- go ahead look it up. I got info piece-meal, you should find the information with additions more up to date!!! Now what stupid excuse will you "people" give to kill dogs......???
I had always heard how dangerous the pitbulls were. I rescued a pitbull mix 4 years ago and she is the most loving biggest baby! She loves to cuddle and never barks at people only at other animals. She thinks everyone she sees is supposed to pet her! It makes me so sad to see these 3 dogs put to sleep instead of rehoming them!! You can see how friendly they were.
It's disgusting that 2 puppies from the same litter can be classed different. If you're going to ban a breed it should be based on genetics not "look or opinion". I disagree with breed banning all together. This is a disgusting and outdated law.

Reeducation on the pitbull breed is seriously needed. The views on them are seriously skewed and abhorrent. I happen to think that pits are an excellent breed. They're kindhearted, loving, and protective of the people that have them and also protective of their property. They're also very playful as seen in this video. People who choose to abuse, raise them for dog fighting, and other grotesque things should NOT be allowed to have animals PERIOD. What needs to change is the time frames as punishment. Owners found to've caused cruelty and maltreatment should NOT have animals anymore for the rest of their lives and charged more than the small fees which are a joke to me. True reeducation for the lawmakers are what's needed. Not more bans on this beautiful and loving breed.

The law needs to change. No dog is born aggressive. They are abused to be aggressive because humans think it makes themselves look tougher. Put the people down, not the dogs. If those dogs had been given to responsible people instead of destroyed, they could've had wonderful, happy, loving lives.

Breed specific legislation is bull💩 legislation. It doesn't matter the breed of dog, it's the humans that are and always will be the problem, yet the dog ALWAYS pays the price. The number of dogs murdered under this guise is disgusting and everyone who have had a part to play in BSL ought to hang their heads in shame.
