It really is sad that a dad had to make a huge sacrifice just for his son to have a good life.
His dad got all any father could literally ever ask for for their child: a better life than he had. Honest to god tearing up just at the thought of it
And all their relatives as well. Probably his friends as well. All were severely punished. That's what dictators do.
@@IMWeira I really do hope karma comes to Kim jong un and people like him

Likely the whole family of the kid got sent to prison camps with concentration camp like conditions and died. Just how it is in North Korea
It’s sad that even his grandparents are getting tortured right now
I mean this happened in 2016 so they probably died way before the story came out
I doubt any of them are still alive, that country is based around absolute unconditional loyalty so they probably were either executed or starved to death in a work camp
@@SSmigglessI mean they is still a small chance they would be getting tortured for the rest of their lives

That Dad is a good man. Respect 🫡
that dad is an actual saint. rest in peace.
it's sad because his family is most likely going through much pain now
knowing north korea, they’re probably not alive anymore. such sadness, i hope the boy can live a good lifw
How horrible, to brutally punish families to keep people in line. It'll take a lot of combined self-sacrifice for people to throw off the regime. It'd be terrifying to live there. If he was their only child, of course letting him flee would be the only way.
I mean, they're probably happy because he got his kid a good life unlike the rest of them
His family likely 100% all got gathered up, all their things confiscated, brutally interrogated, beaten for days and then executed…or worse, but definitely not alive. It’s the NK way to deter defectors using their entire family as collateral. Crazy stuff.
Honestly this such a heartwarming story just knowing that the father gave it all so his son could have a better life. What a dad and I hope all others would do the same W DAD.
@@Nachi-Blox they 1000% were brutally executed. Knowing their brutality, possibly fed to dogs
i thought I knew what it was like to love another human being until my son was born. it was then that I truly understood what the word love ment and just how deep of an emotion it actually is. there is nothing I wouldn't do for him if I thought his life would be permanently better off for it. this mans father is the true definition of an unconditionally devoted and loving dad. god bless him for sacrificing his life to save the one life that he loved more than his own.

Good job to the dad for supporting the son
A dad with a real heart that want the best for his kids
Kid, not kids, we heard nothing about what happened to any other kids (if any) other than the one the Dad was clearly proud of. Parents do sometimes have favorites

unfortunately no, there is a rule in north korea that if one person escaped the country all of their other family members will either be killed or tortured badly for life...
No. Some are dead but plenty are kept alive and tortured. 3 generations of them. Not only family, friends too especially those connected to them..That's what makes this so tragic.
A true dad. He will always be a legend

I couldn't do it. If I knew my family would be punished I don't think I could live with myself. :( he was very strong. Also, we hear about how bad it is there, but it must be worse than what we've been told because I'm sure he didn't want to leave them behind. It's crazy something like this is still happening on the world.
I heard they torture or kill 8 generations of the defectors. Like you would think twice before escaping bec many would suffer from it huhu
It's very bad. Almost everyone except the special people in Pyongyang live in very extreme poverty. Someone who escaped said that they would drink out of the rivers and watch dead bodies floating past from people who had starved.
The government will kill you if you don't mourn hard enough on the past rulers deaths. They will kill you if you don't clap loud enough after kim jong un speaks. They will kill you if you don't have a picture of the 2 past rulers in every building. They will kill you if your house burns and you don't rescue the 2 pictures of the 2 past rulers.
I have heard that if the special sports team that competes internationally doesn't bring home a trophy, they will go in the prison camps or be killed
That family is definitely in captive or possibly worse… the sacrifices some humans have to make is so eye opening to others, we should thank this family for their bravery as we have one more story of human triumph to be inspired by❤️
