- This is a video I put together on the history of the China Railway SY and JS class 2-8-2's. This video covers the two classes and the three engines in the US. I have had a fascination with SY steam engines for years now and they are one of my favorite steam loco classes.
Those are some beautiful models at the end! I recently purchased a Bachmann SY of my own and plan to turn it into New Haven 3025!
Thanks, that sounds awesome.
Can you do more steam locomotive history videos in the future? And you do a history video on Some Canadian steam locomotives?
This is a fantastic video. Id LOVE to see one on the SL and RM Pacific's. Seems like the Chinese Pacific's, Prairies and Switchers seldom get mentioned in comparison to the Mikes and Santa Fe types
This sure was an interesting video. I happen to agree on the SYs as I do think they look better than the JS. I also like the 2 that are in the US, 142 & 3025 respectively. Funnily enough, when I first saw footage of 142 as a child I had no idea it was a Chinese engine up until 2018 as by then I dug deep into the history of many steam locomotives I've known since childhood and today as a young adult. Hopefully, someday I can see either one of them for myself as I feel like the SY was just as great as my other favorite type of Chinese engine class the QJ. Still, I wish you good luck in hoping to see either 142 or 3025 in the future. I know that 3025 is still operational and will be til 2026, while 142 is nearing the end of its rebuild and could be done sometime this year or early next year. Not sure if anything will be planned for her return, but will be awaiting the day she's back in steam, alongside 6988 my favorite QJ.
A history of China’s SY and JS class 2-8-2 “Mikado” steam locomotives.
Could you do one on the JF class? They were heavily based on the USATC s200.
You read my mind, yes I plan to do a few more China steam history video's and the JF is next.
@@baldwinloco12 okay. That’s very interesting. I’m looking forward to it.
You forgot to mention the sale amongst the 3 SY engines that were shipped to the US, after the one was lost at sea.
The third SY was supposed to go to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and there are several excellent articles out there about how the whole ordeal played out.
hadn't heard about that.
JS8419 was the first steam locomotive I ever saw in steam. I was 5 years old I bellieve it was 1997 or 1998.
I think it looked better with the wreath on the smokebox
06:17 这台上游1498是鹤岗煤矿的!我今年拍到过,已经被拆解了!
Why did the JS in Iowa have a bell installed? I thought that technically the bell is not a legal requirement here.
It's an American thing, was added for fun I'm sure but also for safety reasons.
Do you like Japanese steam?🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
I don't know to much about them
Are we gonna talk about new haven owned js class 2-8-2 10:48
I did talk about the New Haven 2-8-2, it's a SY not JS.
