Crony Capitalism in India (Hindi) | But Why
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 лип 2022
- Crony capitalism in India has had negative consequences for the country's economy and political system. It has contributed to corruption, inefficiency, and a lack of competition, and has hampered the development of a fair and transparent market economy. It is crucial for India to continue its efforts to combat crony capitalism in order to build a more robust and equitable economic system.

Save Democracy
Our economy advisor Sanjeev Sayal says, "after 1991 we went from crony socialism to crony capitalism now they are trying to finish cronyism."
What does that mean ?
@@overlordborn6131 when some rich people joins hands with top politicians and bureaucrats to tweak rules in that favour it is called cronyism. But mostly cronyism is only associated with capitalism but we had socialist capitalism before 1991 wherein doing business was almost impossible for people who weren't well connected because of which those with powerful friends didn't have much competition and they exploited the people.
Both the UPA and NDA governments supported crony capitalism.
wo kabhi hoga nhi
Hum do hamare do is what is on.
Hey, a suggestion.
Topics like these are too vast , so its only natural that a lot of questions would be left unanswered in a 10 minute video. So my suggestion is that why not upload a video in which you answer/clarify top questions in the comments about a week after the original video is uploaded .
Let this video have minimal editing to save time and effort. This will also allow you to improve your upload schedule and strengthen your connection with the audience.
This is absolutely perfect suggestion. I hope he does this.
I don't think he'll do it as nowadays superficial knowledge is what gives views.
@@akashpandey4389 what tells you that it's superficial?
One thing you forget while explaining crony capitalism is that... It puts too much stake on a single organisation.... So the success of a nation is dependent on that crony capitalists.
For example, the west sanctioned the oligarchs, but the common russian faces its heat....
During global financial crisis, the banks did all the manipulation, but somehow it was the common man was the one who lost his home....
Likewise, the success of our nation depends upon Adani's repayment of it's high debt.... If he doesn't or Adani's enterprises fail, all the sectors will collapse together meaning economic catastrophe of epic proportions...
This is where the problem starts, the crony capitalists become what now people call as "too big to fail". Since their failure is the failure of the nation then the govt will do everything in its power to make sure these organisations remain afloat, sometimes at the cost of the people..... The cronies know this, they do whatever the hell the want and if they screw up, the know the govt is gonna come swooping and save them. And that's how oligarchy is born
Your argument is true that crony capitalism risks the failure of a person become failure of nation. However it is also true that all the wealth and industries are controlled by very few individuals or as we call it 1% of the 1%. So even if make an equal ground for everyone, most of the wealth will eventually get concentrated in the hands of a very few individuals and institutions even if there is no crony capitalism and again the same risk.
Also the example of Russia is not the best imo, because western block holds most of the money and power in the world and the developing nations are heavily dependent on them. Cause if you want to grow your economy you need money from their economy. If it wasn't for that, their sanctions don't mean much to any other country except EU and USA.
@@SanjeevSingh-ui6lr I never have advocated for so called redistribution of wealth or any such policies.... Neither in this post nor in any... I have no problem with billionaires, to me they are same as any other citizen. I only advocate for a fairer policy, or a fairer system.... For example there must be a reasonable limit to how much a bank loans to a single organisation. Another the govt must crackdown on any cartelization attempt. Something like bailouts should be simply out of question...
@@abhishekkulkarni2918 I acknowledge the fact that you never said about wealth distribution. What I was trying to say is crony capitalism or not there will always be a risk of one person's failure becoming national failure because in free market there will always be a conglomerate.
We can expect fairer policies and opportunities but the ones who write the laws don't necessarily always care about what commoners have to say. We can expect but they do what they want to and we just get on with whatever that is.
@@abhishekkulkarni2918 There is ... its called a leverage ratio
As long as monopolies are avoided, there is nothing really "bad" in an oligarchy, it's certainly not an ideal system but with some basic checks in place it's far from the worst, although income inequality will increase but so will the income as the common people which is more important
For example, Japan and South Korea are both oligarchies and enjoy a very high standard of living

Tbh India from 47 to 91 was a mixed not a socialist economy. There were still rich industrialists and capitalists who through freight equalization policy managed to grow their buisness by exploiting resource rich areas by taking minerals from there and opening industries elsewhere
. The congress even helped them in doing this.
It was a government regulated oligarchy
@@spilltea4241 True.
We had more crony socialism than capitalism during that period. Heck we locked out private industries out of key sectors before 2014.
How many soldiers lives would have been saved if contracts for body armor went to MKU instead of OFB. We've given away so many such no-bid contracts to PSUs despite knowing they are incapable to fulfill the contract and then dumped even more money on ToT to get them to fulfill the contract.

1. Use a good mic if possible rather than using collar boya mics. Something like a USB condenser or zoom h1 will be a great choice. or else, you can edit your voice with an EQ in post editing
2. Do not tail drop. End of your sentances are considerably lower in volume than the start. Or else you can use a compressor in the post production.

The issue with Adani is not just it is crony, it does not do anything on its own. It's just a mafia company doing import export with the assurance to its shareholders that the govt is beside it. This is just a bubble growth. If in future BJP losses, Adani's stock will vanish and so is SBI. It will be a shock when such a bubble is adjusted.
Adani has kept alot of black money in Mauritius, that's why you can see alot of shell company from Mauritius invested even around 90% of their total wealth in Adani company .
No he won't..
He owns mundara ports and now partly owns Israel biggest ports.. He's business model is complicated but it's the other way around.. If Adani, Ambani, mahindra and tata falls, bjp falls..
Mahindra, Ambani and tata are getting unnoticed due to Adani.. Just watch the amount of growth they have witnessed too..
Global companies like Microsoft has huge investments in bjp party.. That's the reason openly bil gates support India these days..
This type of business politics happens in all countries..
Guess what, even is USA Biden gives GM and Ford support.. Biden brought tiktok back and even force pushed ev until 2030 which even elon musk said won't happen because Chinese SAIC motor also invest in Biden govt..
Bajaj family openly supports congress in NDTV..
Again business politics have been the culture...

@@THUGPUTIN Yes, companies (that creates wealth) control every other capitalist country. We don't really know the true details of the company finances. But Adani does not create wealth (as I understand). So I would not make any investments to Adani just because it operates the ports and airports. One cannot predict the activity of regulators in a non-BJP government.
It's like a company leasing a state owned housing complex (at a cheap price) for 100 years and renting to make profit. I would not invest in such a company in the long term.

Good video.
But I would have to disagree. Look at Tatas and Ambanis. They are capitalist. Yet, I believe they have created a lot of wealth for the Indian public.
Without Jio, a lot of our young students may not have been able to attend online classes during the pandemic.
There are many positives too like they can invest in businesses which have high entry barriers because of huge capital required
But if you look closely Ambani's and Adani's wealth is growing rapidly while 97% of the people are suffering from lowering of income and they are not creating any new business they are just accumulating pubic sector or govt. sector companies
While common people are having lower incomes so they will buy less and less consumption would lead to slow economic growth as our economy is consumption based and when people will not have money to buy
What these capitalist will produce or provide hence decreasing capital flow in the economy
Ehhh no, your first paragraph is long on many levels, and you could write a book answering the question, however the second one is completely stupid, jio has killed all its competition and the government has helped it monopolize the industry, currently you are enjoying the wave as it undercuts its competitors, slowly price of elasticity demands kick in, soon after, no matter how much they increase their price you'll be forced to buy from them.
@@shinjin2241 it's because of decade long socailism.
@@shinjin2241 south and west is developed because of capitalists. North and east is poor because of socialists
@@nknkannadiga9742 Naah you are on wrong track..
North & East India are not poor because of socialism but something else.
And that is changing world order. Let me elaborate.....
North & east Indian states like Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Bengal, Bangladesh, Assam always has most fertile soils of Indian subcontinent. So, they had their whole life dedicated to agriculture while Rajasthan, Gujrat, Maharashtra (expect some areas) areas never had option of agriculture. So, they always relied on Bussiness & handicrafts.
Also, Britishers made Bombay the most industrialised city of India which eventually gave benefit to both Gujrat & Maharashtra. Similarly, Delhi gave benefit to Punjab province (Punjab+Haryana+Delhi). Chennai gave benefit to Madras province (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh), Hyderabad gave benefit to Telangana and Bangalore to Karnataka. There cities were made hundreds of years before India got independence.
Bengal also had benefit of having megacity of Kolkata but they failed to utilise it. Bihar, MP had benefit of minerals but all waned with their partition. So geographical, demographical, political & historical reasons all accounted for today's difference. It's not only because of socialism.

The nature of Capitalism itself lends it to eventually reach oligarchy. Maybe capitalism was a good stepping stone away from monarchy/imperialism, but it is due time we think in futuristic terms and try to create society with lesser and lesser hierarchies.
Capitalism itself is a form of monarchy or we can say monarchy itself is end goal of capitalism.
In capitalism all the economic power are eventually transferred to an group of individuals and they manipulate it for their benefit.
In Monarchy along with Economic powers, administrative and military power is centered around a group of people and their head is called monarch.
In both capitalism and Monarchy hereditary transfer of money and power is performed and merit and principle of equality is discarded.
This eventually lead to class segregation and inequal opportunities and inequal society.
Shakti man 😏
Not exactly, it happens when legislature and regulations
There's a difference between free market capitalism vs crony capitalism, countries like singapore and japan and south korea offer truly free markets, what we need is this free market capitalism not the crony one, capitalism is the only successful model for any economy socialism always fails and hierarchy is natural amd will always be there
@@internetastronaut4973 completely wrong, free market is not solution, current status of usa is same, its only beest for rich people, may be you are a rich. Capitalism with socialism is best which is what is done in Scandinavian countries which are best in every way for general public.

Are the backbone of the indian economy.. Aur agar businessman aur politician me connection hai to ye koi new baat nhi h even USA me bhi same system hain
The USA where the common man can't afford higher education, healthcare and housing. 💀 Letting a few people/companies so much power over a country's economy is only beneficial for the select few, it has little change for the common man who has unemployment issues, frozen wages and increasing work hours.

I have a question. Does private education encourage quality due to competition? Or is that a myth? Why public college doesn't reach the level of Stanford University which is private college? Would u explore this topic
Because of funding. Funding matters. Countries with good public education system have great research facility.
Also no industry interaction is allowed in public universities in india
Stanford is publically funded
@@saikatbag3961 correct
I think what matters is the intention and funding of Government
As you can see no one wants to send their children to govt. schools but there is a huge rush and competition for seats in government colleges so there's nothing like competition that improves education
Now you need to talk about Crony Socialism. That has toxified and destroyed the economic growth more than capitalism. And crony socialism still afflicts our economy.
Take Railways as a great example of this. LHB contract gave away to ICF with no bids and we knew they couldn't fulfill it. Then we poured more money into ToT and OFB still struggles to fulfill contracts. (Heck we are importing Wheels from China despite local manufacturers like Alstom, Megha, Titagrah etc.)
This channel is very underrated and deserves a lot more views and reach.
