There's a Japanese brand named "Shigematsu". Some of there's particle filters doesn't have an expiration day. And they claim that if it's got clogged, can be washed by water for an unlimited times. Until it shows physical damage, contaminated by chemical, or failed the resistance test after washing.
P100 is actually only 99.97% for 0.3um particle size. Quite similar to European P3 that is specified as 99.95% for similar size. Measuring methods can differ though. I actually like the US system where Pxxx/Nxxx etc indicate if it is for example oil resistant.
Well u guess p99.99 would be better for human brains (like sanitizer!) XD 100 just isn't correct and for people who know that, will think they are getting 100% protection. I don't think there's anything that could even give that protection though! 🤔🤔🤔
Recently bought some p3 filters by Impertech/Supergum on Amazon that are made in Israel, and both of them came damaged. They were vacuum sealed so tight that the vacuum crushed the outer filter casing and tore the filter paper. I would only buy from a brand like 3m or Drager or something as they seem to not have this issue.
I bought a 3M 7093 particle filter on amazon and I didn't found any expiry date on the package. There is only a LOT no. 100906. I did some research that the LOT# should mean produced in Factory 10, 2009 week 06. In the new package of 7093 filter, 3M states the expiry date for 5 years. Yet, in 3M official documents, as far as I can find, never indicate there is an expiry date on the particle filters, while 3M writes very clearly that never use the chemicals filters after the expiry date. There are some rumours on the internet saying that 3M indicates the expiry date just because it is now legally required. There is another version of particle filter that has the expiry in 10 years, while this version, maybe because it is "waterproof", is 5 years. I believe the filter just works fine perhaps in 10 years time, but it seems better not to risk yourself with just few more dollars. I never expect stores on Amazon will sell expired filters. Now I know.
Hey, been awhile since i commented on your vids, but could you do a ZERT style related video? About what gas masks/Respirators are best for a zombie apocalypse? Would be interesting! Keep up the good work!
Nice video. I have a question. So on my shms when I breath out sometimes I get a weird vibrating sound... I originally thought it would be the exhale valve, but it was not that. Do you think it's the voice diaphragm? Any advice to fix it?
Question: If I understand correctly, it sounds like P3 particulate filters are generally re-usable, unlike charcoal filters, which are regarded as toxic waste after one use. Particle filters can be trusted to be effective at blocking viruses, assuming they are not ripped or defective, and can be used repeatedly up until they become too hard to breathe through. Is that correct? Side comment: I assume a "100% efficient" particulate filter would catch 100% of airborne particles, not air itself. I don't think they're trying to say it blocks 100% of all molecules.
That's what I've gathered. The Swedish Armed Forces also released an official document on gas & particulate filters that claim that it is unlikely that a virus like corona could spread inside the filter and therefor they are to be used till they clog or they pass a certain weight. Only problem is you can't clean the particulate filter. 100% efficient doesn't exist, you can always add a decimal and get closer and closer tho.
Where do u get your fp-5 filters from? I only found some on ebay where i have to pay more for the shipping then for the filter it self. (The only seller i found was a british one)
Video request: Stop me if you've done one to this degree before, but I checked most of your expired filter video. If someone were to say get a surplus 4A1 and the filter it comes with says Exp. 2009, what uses can it still be good for? I assume the the particulate portion is still perfectly fine if the plastic cap was on it, however not it an air tight bag. Essentially I'm asking you to make a video of as many uses it can be used for that we can think of. I presume fallout, anything a 3M half face respirator can do, smoke (but in the event you are evading and not sticking around), and of course airborne plagues. I have a friend that has an old surplus 4A1 and the filter doesn't even have an expiration date, I basically just told her to only use it for the uses above. She added her own uses, such as cutting onions and working with hair spray/dye. :P
I've sort of done videos on it but yeah anyway. Fine for any work with particles. May still work against nuisance vapour but I wouldn't trust it for dangerous vapour. So use it for nasty smells, light paint stripping etc.

It's called a "P100" over here because it's a lot catchier and easier to say than "P99.999" lol
But factually incorrect because it obviously doesn't give 100% protection.
Weaponsandstuff93 I'm just sayin', try marketing a "P99.999" filter
TheArsonator If it stops you dying then who gives a shit what its called? :)

also note that some of these filters have statically charged filters. I'm sure the charge is lost over time
Scott filter came in from UK today. Hard to locate in USA, P3 same as yours. Use with NOS M65 fits great.

Pretty sure I covered that before if you search zombies or 28 days later on my channel.
Weaponsandstuff93 oh shit yeah, cool, thanks man
How about you put the standart filter (charcoal) sealed in a sealed bag ? Shouldn't they last dozens of years ?
Nice video. I have a question. So on my shms when I breath out sometimes I get a weird vibrating sound... I originally thought it would be the exhale valve, but it was not that. Do you think it's the voice diaphragm? Any advice to fix it?
You are not using it with the hose and big filter, that would be the reason why due to air resistance.
Ahhh thank you.
Same thing happened to me. The inhalation valve had an air leak.
If you use a filter sock on a particle filter than it's not going to clog up so easily?
Yeah the sock would catch some of the particles first, good shout.
Would this filter fit an s-10 ?, Also if the pleated paper was made of fiberglass paper, how would you know you are not inhaling fiberglass particles?
Yes it will fit as it's an RD40/NATO 40mm filter, you basically can't know unless you notice you are inhaling it.

I bought a filter like that and when I attach it to the mask it smells weird. Is this suposed to be like that?
Yeah it has a strong plastic smell.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Ty for your quick reply! Keep it going, your channel is great.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 I came here to ask the same question. It's a nasty smell. It reminds me of the smell of peanuts but burnt and toxic.
The 7093c used with 3M half masks didn't smell like anything.
What’s ur thought on Soviet particle filters, the ones that look something like ur holding that u put on the bottom of a large filter???
Well they have asbestos in
I have a s6 filter that still works and has been up in the attic for a long time
Cool but I wouldn't trust it for anything serious.
Is there a difference between p95, and p3?
p95= EEUU 95% filtration. p3= Europe 99.999% filtration.
Where do u get your fp-5 filters from? I only found some on ebay where i have to pay more for the shipping then for the filter it self. (The only seller i found was a british one)
eBay with Beastoree, if you are in the US you may be out of luck.
Weaponsandstuff93 i live in Germany. Thank u
thanks i needed a video like this. keep it up!
Cheers
DO you have a vid on what is gas mask to buy so you can have it for prepping for viral outbreak and nuclear war. One that you can get filters for.
I've done several videos on recommended masks.

I know this is a little random, but do they make modern day coffee can type filters? Like without asbestos?
I've seen some Chinese ones but they are not as big as the Soviet ones, and not guaranteed to work.
If you mean cylindrical steel filter then yes, at least in Russia, with proper modern EU marking (like A2P3). I saw them in protection gear store.
What things should i look for when i am looking to buy an s10 gas mask
Seller has good feedback on eBay I guess.
If buying from a surplus store try it on and test the seals before you buy (unless its a GP-5 with soviet filter).
Are there 40mm GOST partical filters for a Gp-7?
Asbestos ones yes.
Weaponsandstuff93 So there are no modern partical filters or adapters for 40mm?
Are normal filters safe to use for this purpose?
On what regard? Only particle filters do not expire quickly, the particle filter in NBC filters always outlasts the charcoal.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you know where i can buy non expired filters
Gaby Lara lol thanks
Amazon/eBay just make sure to check the date of the filter is listed, if not don't buy.
does this work with m61 that has the adapter
If the P3 filter is 40mm it should work
Do you recommend one gas mask that you would personally use in the apocalypse
CT12
can you do a nother Q&A
I do every time I stream.
M17A1 mask with asbestos?
No M17 filters don't have asbestos in.
Hello
Could you heart this just to make me smile?
