The only thing you need to consider is the time between you get the health card and you enter Canada. Just for this period of about a month I got a travel insurance because just in case even if you slipped and fall in snow and broke a bone, you’ll prefer to have a broken bone instead of going to a doctor as it’s so damn expensive. Alberta also has free health care for international students and university insurance covers 85% of the expenses for medicines and please also check deductible and limit per occurrence while taking an insurance policy because even if you have limit of 100k but per occurrence the limit is just 10k, you’ll only be paid 10k of the whole bill as 100k is limit of whole insurance not per occurrence. I worked in insurance and I know this doesn’t sounds like Canada but insurance companies just want to give out as little as possible.
I was just about to book my flight for Toronto For May’22 intake and now I’ll definitely get my insurance 🇮🇳❤️🇨🇦

Just in case anyone wondering, in Saskatchewan, government issued health cards are absolutely free for international students, that means you can see your doctor as many times for free, but prescription drugs are not. But your university insurance might get handy in those scenarios.
Your free health card also covers your tests and x-rays as well, so it's pretty neat
Fortunately i had health card that i just made 2 weeks ago and i had to go through surgery that could have costed around $30,000 CDN if i don’t had one.

Do not hesitate to ask if any service is free of cost or not! Because no one knows what happens in future. Asking if it is free of cost will not sound cheap it's just a mindset always be aware of what's happening in your surrounding.
Nothing is free of cost in canada for intl students
i was hospitalized in BC, I was in a private room for about 2 weeks and i even went through some treatment but, I was lucky i went to BC because all of my medical expenses were covered through BC MSP card. I didn't even paid single cent.

They should file case against hospital without any information they shouldn't start treatment.
Any translation plz. I wish I could understand it. A subtitle at least would have helped me a lot. The following is for the creator. If you are posting something about canada or foreign related stuffs, plz make that in English or at least put a subtitle at the bottom. It will be helpful as not only hindi speaking people will watch it.
Basically a student from India (he won't disclose his name, city or college) was found covid positive on Toronto Airport (unfortunately). The Toronto Immigration put him in a medical ward from where his medical bill started(which is mostly uncovered by university until course). It was basically CAD$4350/per night! The doctors also found some psychological issues which the student was unaware off. The total bill for 15 days at the end was around CAD$90000. The student was sent back home and can only continue his study after paying the expenses. He was lucky, he did a travel insurance before coming and his bill was reduced to 50-60k CAD$(Still a lot of money for a student)
