- Wrestling Bios Presents - The Career of Jimmy Hart - The Mouth of The South
"The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart is one of the most memorable managers not only in the the WWE, but all of professional wrestling. His became known worldwide, with his outrageous suits and his prop of choice, the megaphone. Jimmy's contributions to wrestling go beyond just being a manager, as Jimmy Hart was also responsible for some of the best theme music in the wrestling business, writing theme songs such as the Shawn Michaels entrance theme and the nWo Wolfpac song in WCW.
Jimmy Hart's main love has always been music. He was part of a succesful band known as The Gentrys, garnering over a million sold records during his music career. When High School buddy Jerry "The King" Lawler needed someone to record some backing vocals, Jimmy Hart was the man for the job. This brought Hart into the CWA in Memphis, where he would begin a wrestling career that took him to the WWF, all the way to WCW and back again. Jimmy Hart would manage some of the biggest and greatest names in wrestling, from The Hart Foundation to Hulk Hogan.
In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we take a look at The Career of The Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart. Topics covered include:
- Jimmy Hart's early life
- The Gentrys and the band's early success

I met Jimmy at an autograph signing to promote a WCW Thunder show. Literally almost nobody showed up. I told him how much I loved watching him in USWA and we started chatting about wrestling history. I had been there talking with him for nearly a half hour when I started to feel like I might be bothering him. I said something to the effect of, "Well...I better let you get back what you're here to do." To which he replied "If you're not busy, man, just stay and talk with me." I was about to cry, lol! I stayed there the whole 3 hrs he was scheduled to be there. Only maybe 5 or 6 other people showed up, got an autograph, and left. We talked the whole time. When he had his assistant go get him a drink he asked what I wanted and got me one as well. He gave me 3 WCW shirts before he left, thanked me for spending the time with him (thanked ME!) and took down my information so he could leave tickets for me at the box office. He left 4 tickets of which I only used 2 and gave the other 2 to people outside the arena. I've met several wrestlers and managers over the years very briefly (mostly autograph signings), but this was amazing and I'll never forget it!
Great story man!! Thanks for sharing
That is wicked Awsome man. He has talent in Many areas. Cool story 🖒👍👌💪
That's really cool hear!
That's pretty awesome!
Kinda sad that not many people turned up but good on ya for talking to him.
Jimmy Hart is the reason I asked for a megaphone for Christmas when I was 7 😂😂
Did you get it?
Loved the megaphone always wanted one too
Jimmy's a loudmouth. He really didn't need the megaphone in my opinion, but seeing him with one was funny.
Jimmy Hart. IMO, the most underrated manager in wrestling history.
I was enthralled with megaphones as a kid because of him!!!!!!📢
It's hard not to think of Jimmy Heart without smiling! When I was a kid I thought he was the coolest dude ever!
Yeah baybee!
You and me both Luke
Jimmy Hart shouting ' beautiful ' through his megaphone everytime one of his guys hit a big move was and still is brilliant , Jimmy, heenan , fuji and slick made many a match 10× better .
Also, the way he frantically move around... so funny.
Ringside, he was the best.
Sherri, Liz, Albano, Johnny V, and Blassie too!!
@@horizontoday7874 agreed .
My favorite was the Grand Wizard with that outfit he wore and that hat with his rotten teeth and all, lol.he was small like Heart, probably even smaller than Heart.I believe that Heart might even have been a cast off of the Grand Wizard of Champions.Actually he wore a Turban, not a hat.
@@horizontoday7874 oh shoot, how can I forget captain Lou Albano.lol.he was cool as hell. He was always greasy looking and stunk like Body Odor.he liked his cocaine in the 1980's... I doubt he showered to much because he stunk to the highī heavens of botgd
Jimmy is known as one of the nicest guys in “the business”. I met him at a con a couple years ago and he was super nice, immediately handing me his megaphone so I could get a picture. He is also one of the few clean-living guys in wrestling, never having smoked, drank, or done drugs, something I’ve heard confirmed by other wrestlers. In the late 80’s WWF, he was reportedly the only person in the locker room not doing any of that stuff.
I met him at a convention last month to a picture and he gave me his megaphone to take pictures with as well Super cool guy he’s lives local to me in Florida and invited to me to go to hogans hang out on Monday nights to meet hulk Hogan.
"The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, one of the top 5 managers in all of professional wrestling.
Most definately.
Jimmy Hart = wrestling. He always looked like he belonged on the screen and in/out of the ring. He was PERFECT!
Wow Jimmy Hart wrote the Wolfpack Theme!
Janum MIles man that was my ring tone for years... That information blew me away..
I loved the song. It's very surprising to hear that Jimmy wrote it.
One of the top 5 managers of all time. Great video
Agreed!!! In no particular order who would you say (in no particular order are the other 4 in your top 5
Top 2.
@@taydafranklin7800
Bobby Heenan
James E. Cornette
Paul Heyman
Jimmy Hart
Lou Albano
@@jasonmerced718 that is one helluva top 5. Definitely gotta agree!!
@@taydafranklin7800 And only 3 out of 5 are in the wwe hof
Jimmy is a legend that never ages
When I went to arenas years ago to watch wrestling matches, I could hear Jimmy on the megaphone LOUD AND CLEAR no matter where I was seated!!!
An absolute legend of music and wrestling.
The music he made should have been recognised by the industry.
People can say Bobby Heenan and Paul Heyman are the greatest managers ever, however Jimmy will always be the coolest
@Martin luther Kennedy III
Yeah he alright, it's all about the fan five of managers in wwf
One of the greatest wrestling managers of all time. Loved watching him shouting out of his megaphone. Classic times 💯👐
Don't think I've ever seen him without sunglasses. ... J
very very rare that you do
Jimmy wrote some amazing 80s music!
Met Jimmy Hart in 2012 and he was so darn nice.
Absolutely loved Jimmy's contributions to wrestling music. From The Honky Tonk Man's multiple songs, to the nWo B song, and more.
You could tell me Jimmy Hart invented the wheel I would believe it, I'm so happy to be in a world where he was part of wrestling
An amazing vid! Thank you for your hard work. Jimmy as a heel was his best work. His time with the Dream Team, the Hart Foundation, and the HTM was pure magic. Never knew he wrote some of the more memorable theme music. His WCW work- and elsewhere- not so good. He's still an icon.
I had no idea Jimmy Hart did the nWo Wolfpac theme. That is crazy. lol
it is.. the theme had a hip hop flavor. didn't think he would do that.. very underrated with his contribution to wrestling.
@@shadisawaqed940 Jimmy did alot of the music when he was in WCW
I'm picturing him in a red wolfpac shirt and a bandana....just doesn't fit
Well, he did the Harlem Heat song too! So suddenly not so crazy! But, I think it's safe to say that he was one of the best song-guys in wrestling!
It's sad knowing that of all the legendary managers in the WWE, only Jimmy Hart and Paul Heyman are still living.
Slick is alive!
Jim Cornette is still going strong
@@KoolKumasi pastor slick
@@RonAllenTaylor
Lol Reverend Slick and salute to you!!!
@@jimreily7538
Ditto for JJ Dillon, Teddy Long and the great Sonny Onoo lol
...DO A BIO FOR JIM CORNETTE ...PPLEASE³
Ol' Cornie needs to have his own bio!
jerry lawler's body hair, my god...fit for a king
I met him at a show and took a picture with him. When I put my hand on his shoulder, his "stubble" almost cut my hand. I didn't know that he shaved his back. lol
@@Hoonozit Cool
Ted DiBiase's theme song is one the my all time favorites
Jimmy was also instrumental in referee, Danny Davis’ wrestling career. And, he also managed the Glamour Girls
One the best in the golden age of managers. Hart, a strong second after Heenan. IMO
They were both excellent but Bobby was and always will be on a whole different level. Loved watching them both.
I know I’m in the minority, but it’s jimmy for me
"Beautiful baby, beautiful!"
I remember him saying that line almost every time one of his managed wrestlers landed a power move or eye poke. I can still remember Gorilla Monsoon calling him "That little pipsqueak" whenever Jimmy would yell through his megaphone at the "good guy" wrestlers when they'd be laying down hurt near the edge of the mat, choking them, or cutting a quick promo to the ringside camera while the match was going on.
Thank you for your decades of contributions to the wrestling world, and thank you for making this video about him, I agree, a "full" video about his career would be many hours long.
I got to meet Jimmy at WrestleMania XXX Axxess. He was so chill.
Jimmy is one of the most social people ive ever met he will sit and talk to anybody.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL MORE THAN CURRENT WWE.
I grew up a Memphis Wrestling fan and I remember when Jimmy Hart first came there.
Those few years that Jimmy was there were some of the greatest years in Memphis Wrestling history.
When Jerry Lawler was out for most of 1980 because of a broken leg, there was an angle in which Hart turned on Lawler and crowned Paul Ellering the new "King of Wrestling." I have never forgotten that.
We all know that Bobby Heenan is the best manager ever, but Jimmy is a strong #2. I've met him several times and he is always awesome.
Can we get an all day version of Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart's career and moments in Wresting?
Love these videos. Thanks for showing much love to Wrestling
Didn’t realize jimmy came up with all these songs and gimmicks for wrestlers. What a talent.
Jimmy the mouth from the south Hart or Bobby the brain Heenan are best wrestling managers one could have back in the early 80s and 90's.
Except for my personal favorites as well.
Pall bearer or mr. Fuji.
So underated.
Freddie Blassie was funny too
Thanks great video, didn't know all this about Jimmy Hart, amazing musician back in the day, did amazing work writing those theme tunes.
I met Jimmy when I was a child in the 80s, and he went out of his way to be super nice and sweet to my mom, sister and I. ❤Jimmy!
I ran into him yesterday in downtown El Paso. He’s an amazing awesome person. Long live The Mouth of the South!
I’m so grateful to say he managed me at an indie show in San Jose’s Ca in 2017 !! What a unique , kind & helpful man !! Love ya jimmy !!
Its amazing how somebody gets into the wrestling biz...ol hs friend.... from a completely different scene....now hes a legend 🎉
I am really enjoying your videos. Keep up the fantastic work!
You got my name, just spelled a bit different. Awesome...
Glad you made this. Was just thinking about how under appreciated Jimmy seemed.
And he still has incredible energy for a man of 80.
Jimmy Hart is one of my favorite managers of all time.
Jimmy Hart along with Bobby Heenan were the best and most entertaining managers the WWF has ever seen! todays stupidly titled 'WWE' is rubbish in comparison to the glory days of 1990s WWF!
Here’s the gods honest truth, if UA-cam said I could only subscribe to 10 channels for the rest of my life, this channel would make the list. Thank you Bio from beautiful Missouri USA 😊
I was in a band that covered the song Keep On Rocking and it always got over with people.
It's one of those songs that's really good and you probably haven't heard but it's awesome to perform live
My husband must be the only person I know that unironically knew the lyrics to cinnamon girl(one of the Gentry's hits),without knowing Jimmy sang it😆
Jimmy Hart was the heel manager I loved to hate..... what an awesome character !!!
Knowing what we know now, you definitely do not want to mess with Jimmy Hart. He sounds like a great guy who worked behind the scenes that gave many people their careers. Definitely you don't want to mess with him.
Jimmy Hart g.o.a.t simple as that 👍😎👍
Jimmy Hart was the best heel manager ever. He came out with his protegees and you knew that the show will be great, whether it was a prime time event or a pre-show. He was the manager you loved to hate, you didn't just dislike him, you hate him. With a passion. But at the same time you wanted to see him, you didn't want him to go away, you wanted him to be there so you could see just what he did today so you could hate him more.
Back when I was a kid, I was always happy when he couldn't hide behind his wrestlers anymore and was whimpering for mercy, but at the same time I wanted him to run away so he wouldn't get hurt. :)
The mouth of the south. Legend
My favourite wrestling manager. He was always so vibrant to watch and a the megaphone was a great touch.
I remembered Jerry Lawler threw Jimmy's gold record in the Mississippi River from the Hernando De Soto Bridge. Memorable moments by those two. 😎
so under appreciated by fans and peers. he was a huge part of wrestling and deserves the praise and spot light. easily a legend.
Jimmie hart a man who earned the title mouth of the south
I met Jimmy in 99 or 2000 at a toy show in Orlando, he was walking the floor signing free autographs to promote Legends of Wrestling video game. We talked for a couple of minutes and seemed genuinely humbled that I knew he had done some iconic music. He was gracious and very fun to talk to.
Jimmy Hart writing the Wolfpac theme is mind-blowing.
My favorite
Straight up.. I’ve never seen Jimmy without sunglasses on before this video lol
I met Jimmy Hart at a NCWA show in Clayton, NC and he was so nice. Love this guy!
Watching this on my lunch break at work today
Not sure if you did one Mr. Fuji yet. If not, really looking forward to that one! Thx for all the videos!
Amazing video as usual you should make just a Memphis Jimmy Hart video cuz that's how f****** amazing he is!
If you weren't born in the 70s to enjoy the 80s. You missed a lot. Wrestling was all the talk.
Thanks for the wimp buster plug
Ive been watching these videos since day 1 and its getting better. Keep it up guys im loving the content!
I had no idea he was so involved. Great video. Thank you.
Jimmy Hart is, without a doubt in my mind, the best manager ever.
Make one about "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and his infamous heel turn on Hulk Hogan!
Waynestarr Id watch that
Once again friend you knocked it out of the park. As always very entertaining and very educational all @ once. 👍👍👍👍👍
I just met jimmy at toomey tools in belleview fl, while I was buying fireworks very nice guy even gave me an autograph
I loved the line from Jimmy ❤ in the,"WWF song in the 80's."I'm gonna still your gjrlfriend".Total classic in the 80's.
Jimmy is iconic. He also created the Sting Crow theme as well I believe
Yes this is the guy I wanted to hear from no one has .thank you
Wow. This is a truly awesome channel ! The level of detail is remarkable !
Either you love him or hate him. Jimmy hart is one 1⃣ of the finest managers you're not going to find anyone better than him. He has helped a lot of people with their careers he has helped Jerry lawler and Hulk hogan he managed in Memphis Tennessee and in WCW and wwf he managed jos Leduc and Terry funk and Austin idol, Tommy rich, and many others. Thumbs up for Jimmy hart. I had to admit he is one of the finest managers in the business
My favorite manager
Finally!!! Been waiting for this one since i subscribed. Cant wait to get home and watch it!!
Jimmy Hart, Bobby Heenan, Sheri Martel, etc, all great managers!
Not one word about his work in the whole naked women's wrestling thing. He was awesome in that too
Man did he ever lead a cool life! The amount of talented wrestlers he got to work with is unreal.
Jimmy Hart is a True Wrestling Legend & Treasure!
Jimmy Hart was a great heel manager in the wwf.
Jimmy was a good parody singer too.
Jimmy was colorful.
Another good video. You put them up I'll watch, like, and comment.
Jimmy Hart would easily be in my top five best mangers, maybe my top three
Jimmy was one of the best heel managers of them all, possibly second only to the legendary Bobby the Brain Heenan.
Keep on dancin' and a-prancin'!!! 🎶
He reminds me of my uncle. RIP
You always do such a good job on every video you do. I always enjoy them.
Cutie from head to toe! When I first got into wrestling I didn't really like him, but he grew on me...and now I just love him. He's just so adorable and funny!
Loved this video and your final take on Jimmy Hart. The little guy with big friends.
Jimmy should be in the hall of fame
When you mentioned the reality show about he was on it made me remember the Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling cartoon
As Paul Bearer and Paul Heyman, a legendary manager, with is megaphone.
Totally agree with you that Jimmy worked best as a heel manager. While Ive said for many many years Bobby Heenan was the best manager ever Jimmy was definately up there. Great vid mate.
My fellow Jackson Mississippian! I know him mostly as a WCW guy and not only was he a great manager but he gave Jim Johnston a run for his money in composing music.
I support this channel!
Loved him and the Honk talk MAN😎🤔😜
