I like Billy Squire, but Everybody Wants You beat out Y&T’s Forever, Huh? Sorry, that’s insane to me. Listen, Y&T blows away so many bands from the 70’s and 80’s but unfortunately not too many people knew about them then and even less now. Dave Meniketi’s song writing was phenomenal, you don’t believe me checkout Rescue Me, Don’t Stop Running, Mean Streak, Summertime Girls, Black Tiger, Midnight In Tokyo and the list can go on and on and on. If you are ever gonna fall down a rabbit hole, I assure you, THIS is the band to do it with. Many, many GREAT songs. 45 years and still rocking. I LOVE THIS BAND. Very, very underrated.
Y&T has so many great songs. One of the all time underrated bands. Been around since 1974 and are still playing. Singer/guitarist/songwriter Dave Meniketti is the only surviving original member. Some more great songs from them: Hurricane, Rescue Me, Dirty Girl, Open Fire, Black Tiger, Barroom Boogie, I Believe In You, Mean Streak, Midnight In Tokyo, Hang ‘Em High, Lipstick And Leather, Masters And Slaves, and many, many more.
YES!!!! Y&T is my favorite band. Dave the lead singer and lead guitarist is the reason I started playing guitar. I've seen these guys 9 times live and they are hands down the best rock band live. I've met the band members as well. Dave is the coolest and most down to earth rock star you'll ever meet. Dude even showed me the proper way to play a part of one of their songs I couldn't figure out.
Yes, Dave is a very cool guy. My friends and I would hang around backstage after their set, and he would take the time to chat and answer our stupid questions. He didn’t owe high school kids that respect but gave it anyway. Guy is still a gentleman to this day!!!
One of my all time favorite songs from my all time favorite bands. Growing up in the SF Bay Area these guys were the talk of the town in the early to mid 80’s. Since they played so much locally, must have seen them live 40 times over the past 40 years. Every time I have seen them they have played Forever and at concert volume it is even better. Great musicians, song writers, and performers. Feel lucky to have seen them in their prime so many times.
Such a well put together song! The vocals and guitar work of Dave Meniketti are amazing. One of the best guitar solos you'll ever hear. Y&T rocks, nuff said!
Y&T are one of the best rock and roll bands ever! They are a local band for me and I have been a fan for 4 decades plus. Check out all their songs. Dave Meniketti is an amazing guitarist and vocalist and he writes awesome songs!
I remember having MEAN STREAK, BLACK TIGER and even CONTAGIOUS all on cassette. LOL. great moments in rock history. This band is one of the best from the 80's!!!!
My introduction to Y&T was their totally awesome 80s videos. "Summertime Girls" and "Lipstick and Leather" The music was great and the videos were so much fun. I started listening to the rest of their catalog after that. Also, they used to be called Yesterday & Today before shortening it to just Y&T.
My first time watching this content. That was a lot of fun. The way you both reacted to the song is exactly how I've felt about it since 1982. Y&T has been one of my Top 5 favorite bands Forever!
In case you didn't know already : Y & T was originally Yesterday & Today, but shortened it to simply Y & T by the 80s (their 3rd release). 1976 - Yesterday & Today 1978 - Struck Down 1981 - Earthshaker 1982 - Black Tiger 1983 - Mean Streak 1984 - In Rock We Trust 1985 - Down For The Count 1985 - Open Fire (Live)
Dave Meniketti is the lead vocalist and lead guitarist. He is the only original member of this awesome band left. So many memories and concerts! They are still touring today! By far one of the best and most underrated rock bands of our generation! Please do more! God bless 5:51
Y&T (originally Yesterday & Today) were a great hard rock band from the West Coast, formed in the 70's... This was from 1982, the album 'Black tiger'... Sadly, Dave Meniketti (Vocals and lead guitar) is the only surviving original member, and recently survived cancer... The other 3 members on this record are deceased: Joey Alves (guitar), Leonard Haze (drums), and Phil Kennemore (bass) ... 'Summertime girls' was their big single in the 80's, w/ other singles were - 'Mean streak'... 'Lipstick & leather'... 🤘🤘🔥 Unfortunately, Y&T suffered the same decline as early 80's hard rock artists did when bands like Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Tesla, Europe, Poison, Whitesnake... peaked around 1987/ '88... Bands (and artists) like Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Aldo Nova, Billy Squire, Foreigner, The Bangles, Quiet Riot, etc... saw their record sales bottom out... and Y&T did not survive in the early 90's. Still, Dave Meniketti and Phil Kennemore resurrected Y&T in the 90's w/ new members... Phil Kennemore passed away from cancer in 2011 and Meniketti kept Y&T going on tour.
If you can make it to a show, DO IT! I have been seeing them in Petaluma, California at the Mystic Theater every year since 2003 (except for the COVID interruption) The band puts on an consistently high energy show that is just as good as anything you hear on vinyl. Their live shows are EPIC! I was fortunate enough to see the original lineup play (Dave, the lead singer/guitar player is sadly the last original member) but the band has AMAZING people who continue to fly the Y&T flag and high! GO BUY ALL THE RECORDS!!! (From their website, of course!)
You guys are now the 2nd reaction channel to react to Y&T. Maybe we can get a trend here. This band is the real deal. Hard rock out of the east bay. Influenced lots of bands that followed both in NorCal and SoCal. Sadly only the lead guitar and vocalist, Dave Meniketti, is alive today. Good news is Dave is still playing live. Wish they would put out some new music. For something different check out some of Dave’s solo blues recordings. “Loan me a dime” is a worthwhile blues cover from Dave. Thanks for your good work. I enjoy your content.
I've been a fan forever! So many people dont know what they're missing cause they never look around. Dave Meniketti as vocalist, guitarist and songwriter needs much more recognition! Thank you guys for doing this! 👍👍🤟🤟🥰⚘⚘⚘. Next try their song-- Masters And Slaves. Think of the ruling class and government as you listen to the lyrics. Great reaction!

Finally! Y & T! I saw them before Covid and Dave Meniketti's has lost nothing over the years, they sound exactly like you are hearing them in this recording. Please check out Black Tiger.
My favorite Y&T song without question! The guitar and drums are mixed perfectly, and the vocals especially on that final note are just incredible. The intro and outro also make this song so unique, memorable and special. It should have been a radio single and a video done for it, I think it would have been a massive hit on rock radio had they put it out there...
The intro on this always came to mind when Priests' came out with a very similar opening on "Screaming For Vengeance" , this came out first., but who knows, easily could be a coincidence.
Yeah. Yesterday & Today. -Y&T - The first time seeing these guys around 1977ish. They were opening for Boston at Winterland Area in S F There was some buzz about there drummer Leonard Haze so I went with my girlfriend & friends who wanted to see Boston Leonard was as good as advertised but Boston knocked me on my ass. Lol.
definitely one to check out: BARROOM BOOGIE. Such a great vibe to the song that will get you boogying. Also, another song that packs a punch from Y&T's album 'TEN' is the song CITY.

I remember having Black Tiger and Mean Streak albums by them, might have had another ...back in the early 80's. Black Tiger is a good album. Saw them with Twisted Sister and Lita in...I think '85 in SF. Y&T are a good, but little known, band.
YES! T & T discovers Y & T! Recommendations : - IN THE NAME OF ROCK & ROLL - DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO WEAR - ALL-AMERICAN BOY - ANYTHING FOR MONEY - LOOKS LIKE TROUBLE - LIPSTICK & LEATHER - DON'T STOP RUNNING - MEAN STREAK
Since Tee appreciates a good lyric, I'm especially curious to see his reaction to Don't Tell Me What To Wear, Looks Like Trouble, and Anything For Money. 😀 Those 3 have some amusing lyrics that tell fun little stories.
I grew up in Sacramento and in 6th grade 1983 my older brother brings me an album and says “learn it, I saw them last night….” It was MEANSTREAK and I was hooked……Leonard Haze became one of my main influences along with Bonham and Appice.
These guys were my homies back in the day... My bands first real concert was with them when they were still Yesterday and Today... Bay Area's Best hard rock...thumbs up and more please... oh, ya got to do Rescue Me next!
What I find odd is the album opens with this riff, as a 40-second intro (From The Moon) before going into the next song, then this track finally appears at #5... Great piece though.
The drummers name was Leonard Haze. He was called “ Thunder foot” because how fast he hit the kick pedal. He played on really thick sticks also. He was Lars Ulrich’s hero growing up. Lars used to hang around with Leonard’s next band ( Lamans ) My friend and former band mate ( Dion Gomez) was their guitar player; and said Lars was like fourteen or fifteen and always hanging around their rehearsals. Leonard is an underground drum legend in rock music.
The robot on the cover was actually a 10 foot tall robot that came out on stage during one of the years they toured that album. They not only sold shirts, but they sold special stuff like lighters, and i bought a heart shaped chest plate like seen on the robot.
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Y & T were unlike most metal bands in the US at that time. They weren't part of the GLAM metal scene in LA. They were hard rockers from Oakland and the bay area of California. They have tons of great music. 'Rescue Me' 'Midnight in Tokyo' 'Barroom Boogie' 'Black Tiger' 'Summertime Girls' and many more. They were known widely to play small bars up and down the state for free while getting ready to tour their next album. So towns with literally a few thousand people in it could see them roll up on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday and offer to play live for free but without any promotion. And they would ask the audience if they knew the music and would like to come up on stage and play. My younger brother plays guitar by ear and taught himself all their songs so he volunteered to come up and play either rhythm or lead. They let him play for a bunch of songs. They were beyond cool and just regular guys, unlike the scene that was going on with the hair metal bands. One of the most underrated rock bands of all time. Chris
Y&T. One of the best Hard Rock bands ... Ever !!! I have loved them, & been influenced by them, since I won the 'Earthshaker' album from the local radio station back in 1980 !!! Dave Meniketti, one of the coolest rock stars i've ever met, stated in an interview that the reason they never really made it bigger, had to do with their record label support throughout especially, the mid to late 1980's. Definitely did Not have anything to do with their talent or motivation to be more successful. My favorite albums from Y&T are their first 5 American released albums, because they released their first 2 albums in Europe. Earthshaker Black Tiger Mean Streak In Rock We Trust & Down for the Count These albums were all created by the original members of the band . Long live Y&T !
Don't know who Y&T are . An 80's hair band? Simple sounding song. Follows the path of a typical heavy metal hit. Rings every bell. Pulls all of the right tabs. Turns every page. Good song at a concert I am sure.
Rescue Me is a rock classic, easy words but its up there with the best of them. A great, truly talented band fronted by a seriously good lead guitarist with a stellar voice. Dave Meniketti take a bow with the band for a great career.
I saw Y&T open for Twisted Sister back in the day in NOLA. Y&T blew them away, when Twister Sister came on, the crowd started leaving. Not that they were bad, just, not as good.
OK, let me get this straight, Billy Squire’s Everybody Wants You beat Y&T’s Forever in a ROCK battle, Huh? Now don’t get me wrong, I like Billy Squire, he’s cool, But Y&T BLOWS him out of the water, no contest as far as I’m concerned. I have been a HUGH Y&T fan since the 80’s and I have everything they put out over the years. Dave Meniketti is a phenomenal song writer, a great guitarist and he and the band are probably one of the most underrated rock bands ever. They came from the San Francisco Bay area, so me being from the east coast never heard of them until a friend of mine played me some of their music and I was hooked. I immediately went out and bought a few of their albums. I have been suggesting Y&T to reactors forever (pun intended), no one has listened until you guys now, I salute you for it, now take the deep dive and listen to their music, they have a lot of great songs. T, I know you will be hooked on Y&T if you let yourself get into them. I think you too, are really cute together some comments I wanted to make, but could not find the video. It was your TNT podcast about lyrics deemed to be dirty. There was something I grew up with. It was a family thing we called it the dirty, boogie, birthdays, whatever somebody would pull out the acoustic and then Pass it around the room and there’s a certain for time blues cord that was done and you got to sing freely about anything no matter how freaking about no matter who was there about whoever was there it was fine but I think her interpretation if this is truly your interpretation of what is filthy And what is artfully or poetically able to put across the same thing instead of so right to it filthy girls they can read between those lines that to them is romance can’t be dirty but you Gotta be slick with what you say and how do you say it that’s all I think you’re great

'Summertime girls' was their big single in the 80's, w/ other singles were - 'Mean streak'... 'Lipstick & leather'... 🤘🤘🔥
Unfortunately, Y&T suffered the same decline as early 80's hard rock artists did when bands like Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Tesla, Europe, Poison, Whitesnake... peaked around 1987/ '88...

Since Tee appreciates a good lyric, I'm especially curious to see his reaction to Don't Tell Me What To Wear, Looks Like Trouble, and Anything For Money. 😀 Those 3 have some amusing lyrics that tell fun little stories.
Love how music brings people together!
Leonard Haze got accolades for his drumming back in the day… nice to see new fans recognize it too! YY&&&&&TTYTttttttt….. \m/ x \m/
Dave Meniketti shreds and has an incredible voice! Y&T forever!!!
Y&T is so criminally underrated
I grew up in Sacramento and in 6th grade 1983 my older brother brings me an album and says “learn it, I saw them last night….” It was MEANSTREAK and I was hooked……Leonard Haze became one of my main influences along with Bonham and Appice.
You HAVE to do Mean Streak! Their best song!
My all time favourite song
I cycled 50 miles just to hear this at monsters of rock
Awesome that we are finally getting some Y&T reactions!🤘🏻😎
Check out the song Rescue Me by Y&T.
Dont lnow how many times i have seen Y and T ,Daves the only original left now unfortunately,,glad i met him,,hes such a gent🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍
Don’t stop running and Face like an angel are Y&T (Yesterday and Today) songs to check out.
So awesome you both reviewed that
One of the great songs defining 1980's ROCK
Underrated but such a great band
The drummers name was Leonard Haze. He was called “ Thunder foot” because how fast he hit the kick pedal. He played on really thick sticks also. He was Lars Ulrich’s hero growing up. Lars used to hang around with Leonard’s next band ( Lamans ) My friend and former band mate ( Dion Gomez) was their guitar player; and said Lars was like fourteen or fifteen and always hanging around their rehearsals. Leonard is an underground drum legend in rock music.
Very awesome reaction haven't heard this in years kind of reminds me of the scorpions a little bit
I never seen anyone do a reaction video to Y&T good choice!
Chris
LOVE Y&T to death! Dave Meniketti is one of the great, underrated lead singer/lead guitarists.
Y&T is a No. Cal Band and as great as they are, never got bigger then local. In the SF bay area, they are legends.
Y&T rules 😂😂😂🎉
You guys ever checked out the band TNT..?👍
My favorite albums from Y&T are their first 5 American released albums,
because they released their first 2 albums in Europe.
Earthshaker
Black Tiger
Mean Streak
In Rock We Trust
&
Down for the Count
These albums were all created by the original members of the band .
Long live Y&T !
Thanks for the "Love" "TNT" ... !!!
You two are Cool.
Keep it Up !
“Mean Streak” and “Don’t Stop Runnin’”
You have a future with reaction videos where you enact all the lyrics🙂
Not sure I’ve ever clicked on a video faster. 😅
MORE Y n T!!!
Class of 85 here. My favoite Y&T video is Mean Streak for what it's worth.
Meniketti throwing in his Itallian passion..excellent choice, great band
Wow never heard this myself. Not bad
They are still touring around the world. Everywhere from germany, japan, the UK and all around the states.
Y&T Black tiger, one of the greatest rock albums of all time
The most under-appreciated heavy melodic rock band 🎸 m history. Dave Meniketti is a monster!
Some other great Y&T songs for you to check out are: Rescue Me, Mean Streak, Don’t Stop Running, Summertime Girls, Black Tiger, Midnight In Tokyo, Ten Lovers, Lipstick and Leather and the list can go on and on and on and on.
Stay Cool 😎 and…
\m/ Stay Metal \m/
Billy squire was the song we played after this but Y&T lost to Dio, lol. And yes, I plan on doing more of these guys. This song is a straight banger.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT oh, ok, I was mistaken, sorry. Ok, now I can accept Dio beating Y&T. Can you tell me what Dio song beat Forever. I’m a HUGE Y&T fan, but I’m a TREMENDOUS Dio fan. RJD is my favorite Metal singer.
Stay Cool 😎 and…
\m/ Stay Metal \m/
TNT , Check out Y&T doing the Dio song Rainbow in the dark as a tribute after he passed cause they were very close with Ronnie .
Damn that is hard rock . What? Their style is so fire. Fantastic. Love them. Know them from Lars Ulrich of Metallica . He was a fan of them .
Awesome band. Love their sound. Love it .
Gotta do Open Fire
I think you too, are really cute together some comments I wanted to make, but could not find the video. It was your TNT podcast about lyrics deemed to be dirty. There was something I grew up with. It was a family thing we called it the dirty, boogie, birthdays, whatever somebody would pull out the acoustic and then Pass it around the room and there’s a certain for time blues cord that was done and you got to sing freely about anything no matter how freaking about no matter who was there about whoever was there it was fine but I think her interpretation if this is truly your interpretation of what is filthy And what is artfully or poetically able to put across the same thing instead of so right to it filthy girls they can read between those lines that to them is romance can’t be dirty but you Gotta be slick with what you say and how do you say it that’s all I think you’re great
Billy Squire is good but this song should have won hands down. Shame! Shame! Shame! 😂
You have to do Rescue Me
Great White’s - Save Your Love
Forever a fan san Fran old Waldorf
Black tiger😅
Y&T
Yesterday and today
This band used to practice across the street from my house in Oakland on 109th.. My Neighbor John was the first drummer.. Dave you ROCK !!🤓
Y&T is a band you may want to look into.. outliers of the 80's...much like WASP never fit the 80's mold
That was because their record company didn't promote these guys.
