- The baby finally meets her Korean grandma, great grandma, and Joe's sister. When I was in my early twenties, I couldn't imagine myself being married, let alone having a family of 8! But having 4 generations in one room is surreal. Each of us have gone through a different path in life with our own convictions, but have managed to come to one place at the same time. I could be living in California right now, still single if taken a different turn a few years ago. My parents could very well have decided to move back to Korea after my sister and I moved out of the house... and as for my great grandmother... I don't know her well enough to speak for her. My relationship with my family has never been close. I'm not sure where that exactly stems from, but maybe it's about time to bridge that gap. My grandmother has been persistently reminding me to visit her and my mom habitually so through that routine, visits wouldn't feel like a special event every time. I believe she wants a family bond that stands the test of time and can transcend time itself. I suppose if a bond can outlast time, then the bond IS the special moment all in itself.

There is great wisdom in this video. I watched it again years later and get a totally different take on it. No family is perfect in every family has its dynamic. Tradition runs deep and it’s so beautiful to see these cross-cultural relationships. In The span of this short video, I see a grandmother and great grandmother slowly falling in love with the child they held , The child being such a huge part of them. I also saw the grandmothers identifying that she looks like this person or she looks like that person, beautiful. I feel like the great grandmother is kind a like the family unifier. How she gently chastises joe and taking license with that in the way only a grandmother can do. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing.

This is my second time watching it and great grandmother is a treasure. She loves her grandchildren and finds similar features and traits in the family. Also very cute of Joe to point out that baby resembles his sister. His sister was very sweet also. I think the mother worries that Joe has too many children, when really their large family is the secret to their success.
Along with their kind hearts and good parenting skills and love of Christ.
I feel the same way I did when they originally aired this video a few years ago. No one should have to force you to accept your blood relative regardless of who it came from or the race your child decided to create life with. I’m in this exact situation. I love my grand child just as much as I love the ones of the same race. His sister is shady as hell.How a married couple decides to do their child’s hair, is nobody’s business. What and when they decide to name their child,isn’t no one’s business either. The best looking people in the room,are those babies.
Boy! Joe is such a good dude. His mom is difficult to like. Even in other videos when she walked away and he apologized for her actions. Lord give him strength to deal with her.

I am Chinese so I don’t understand Korean culture that well but I think there are some similarities! I think because of traditional korean culture the grandmother have difficulty accepting another skin color (i’m sorry to say it this way) it is just asian culture are very veryy traditional! Even my uncle have hard time accepting his son in law who is caucasion….
I think subconsciously your son could feel this in his bones when he was there i feel so sorry for him! His sweet soul feels a burden on his heart i believe! Please please explain to your son that it is NOT HIS FAULT! It is culture and grandma needs more time to adjust to it! May takes a verrryyyy long time but your son might feel unloved around that energy thats why he felt so sad :((( sending him much love he is so so sweet and pure

I think his son didn't see his grandparents and great grandmother too often, so they are like strangers for him.
It had nothing to do with skin colour. It’s that he didn’t care to call his mother, which his grandma pointed out. Also that he should remember how his mother took care of him when he was a baby, especially now that he has his own kids. Besides, nor didn’t he bring any gift, food or just something when he visited which he should. It was him, not the skin colour of their grandchildren !

This episode is so sweet to watch. Children bring love and peace within the family. I love the way Ajedi is so well mannered even when feeling nervous and uncomfortable. I'm glad in the end he felt more at ease. May God bless your family with more grace and love.
If what we are seeing on camera is real, then the relationship is beautiful, respectful and to be admired.. the Asian man wife seems cool, and relaxed and shows love and respect to and for her husband.. beautiful kids.. must have a little bit of black in it to be as beautiful as the kids are.. The comments about the baby is really shocking me… “she doesn’t seem rotten” talking about the eye shape, skin color… I understand koreans and Asians love their white bright skin and small features or whatever but this is a baby and a half black baby at that 😭

These are the most pleasant kids ever, especially Baby, she went from grandma to great grandma and did not cry or fuss, really GENTLE. Its truly amazing especially these are people they have not seen before. Joe i did feel sorry for you. Think you should invite them over to your house. Love your sister to.
Learning snd understanding different cultures afords less judging. But from them, it's their culture and believe in parental respect. Joe's was very respectful, as it's his culture.

You have to excuse us older people, and some younger ones too, When they ask you have you named the baby yet which I know, she has a name now, but that’s between you and your wife you did what’s best for you guys, you know how people in the world 🌎 think 🤔 when a baby Still in your mothers womb, we usually name our babies , or before the baby even leave the hospital the baby usually have a name, I didn’t need my first not Until did they before we left the hospital, I had several names picked I just couldn’t decide which one I wanted to use, That’s just the traditional way , But it’s not the only way, there’s nothing written in stone , you guys did what was best for you and your family and it was that was y’all decision and your decision along, but I know you’re not surprised when people ask why you guys took so long, and at the end of the day it’s no one else’s business but you and your family. . you have a beautiful family you guys are doing a great job with your children, and your mother, your sister, and your grandmother are beautiful people you know how much I love you,Family just have a habit of giving their opinion even when you don’t ask them, Your family loves you deeply and you already know that, you have such a beautiful blended family, and I’ll be praying for your family, keep trusting in the Lord. 🥰👩🏾🦲😍
I like his grandma; she is so loving, warm and sweet. She keeps saying his children are cute and gentle, which is a good thing. Good words are good prayers and a positive aura for the kids. She constantly reminds him how vital family is and the need to visit them frequently. Older adults always believe in the importance of family bonding. As in our religion, it is our responsibility to take care of our parents and treat them with kindness and gentleness. You will get what you sow cause your kids will treat you the same things as they saw what you did to your parents and family.
In my own interpretation, both kuya Joe's mother and grandmother are actually very wise people. I can understand where they're coming from.. I guess, he should also listen and consider their feelings of concern for him and them as a family. 🙂👍
Even the sister is very calm and patient kind. She talks to them and starts conversation especially with the li'l ones.. I think it is also one of the many role models in the world.

I couldn't make it all the way thru...Those Koreans were cold as ice to the children. Children are more sensitive than adults so I know they felt it. All the while making strange comments like "Don't come here empty handed and "this one looks gentle." Compared to what lady? Joe's mother has been cold as hell to his wife and now his children. I would have to love them from afar. Joe, At least don't leave the children alone with your relatives. They will make them feel less than.😢

all 7 are biologically related to Alena as you know, the 3 youngest are biologically Joe’s children, the eldest has a black dad, and the remaining 3 are mixed , their dad is white.
Every last one of those children are hers. Amaya is her oldest then she had three from her husband and all the ones underneath are by joe. I suspect she plans on giving him at least two more.
