In the outro where she sings "We were ala mode" and the place she goes afterwards conveys a lot of emotion. My favorite part of the song / performance.
Whatever was your angle With that visionary shimmer? A strange thing to roll out a spell À la mode Tears water the flowers of need And you bend my day at the knee Sit down, we'll frame the far side Shapes live forever, designer I give up on your beauty Shady as the day you were born I'm leaving you alone with it We're going sailing Designer That visionary shimmer Do not lose your young eyes Laughing at good work with your ugly son Give up your beauty Oh, holy bosses leave me here I'm diving off that memory Stop pinning up your lives like wives Give me your finger À la mode Designer We were à la mode
Two best real artists I have found lately are Ethel Cain and Aldous...but Aldous must be my favorite artist ever.. all over the place and all good.. genius ! ughh !
Although, talented Aldous Harding is like an extended hangover, droning on and on with one speed--slooow... The Designer is the one glimmer of hope that she is finally able to show some texture or any signs of any life.
Is it just me or do the lyrics and the character she channels along with the vocal style and pronunciation she uses just in this song seem as if she's playing some sort of uncontacted tribe member who mistakes a European type captain for some sort of God? The last line about asking for their finger and then stating "we" are alamode as in they're one now because they consumed the finger? I realize it's kind of "out there" but so is Aldous and I love her for it. If you feel I'm way off the mark in my interpretation or you've found information on the meaning of it, feel free to share because it's bugging me that I don't know 100% 😕 t.i a.
To me she is channelling an art teacher from the European mainland who gives these strange and riddled feedback to her students work. In the end she's pining about the days that she was a student herself and her own art was 'á la mode'.
Khraungbin is also my fave. And then I find her. They are both my favorites of this year. A am wild about Khraungbin. I would have been able to see them had Covid19. Maybe next time.
Weird lads don't even know Ren isn't a sith lord SMH. If you're going to unnecessarily bring up star wars here, at the very least, get your facts straight.
A true artist right here

This is the BEST VERSION ❤️❤️❤️
Such a great recording, I can't believe so few have apparently watched it after being online 6 months!
Been watching as much of her stuff as I can find. This only just popped up today!
Fantastic song and artist! Great performance.
Great performance. Best live performance of hers.
Have you watched their concert in Sydney ? That’s a pretty good live one as well .
@@lisacolbert5987 I will watch that now, thank you! 💖🙏🏾
This is the best version of this song
saw her open for deerhunter a couple years ago, she's got great stage presence.
Nice combo, must of been a good show
I bet.
Aldous always puts me in a good mood, but that sounds very profane - she is a true artist!
I know what you mean

THE PIANIST IS SO UNDERRATEDDD
@@pmbbmp it means that they should be more appreciated by the mass but their significance is looked over.

Let me put my investigation team to work to find out who the hell is underrating her.
@@existentialcrisis9757 this comment is underrated.
Don't forget the band
Great musicians

This is the best version of this song.
For real? She's back!!!!! FREE KING LUUUUUV IIIIT!!!!!!
Love this
this version sounds much better than the album version imo. i like the keys sticking out more. it's a great riff.
Yes! I was gutted the album version was not this!
I want to take a bath in that synth tone.
Mellotron.
Still great.
Sublime.
Designer.
Is Aldous related to her keyboard player? There's more than a passing family resemblance.
She's shamanic!
Who told you that?
@@AchileDeji her movements look ritualistic to me and she seems to alter her state of consciousness as she performs. Anyway, it makes me marvel.

Perfection
Her face in the beginning tells she is not messing around with this tune
Really good.
Tu es vraiment....à la mode!!
♥️
she's the new Mutante!
I like that one.
🙏
This song annoys me every time I listen to it again and again.
This is actuallg an amazing comment.

Stage dive ?
This and Khurangbin are my favorite discoveries this year but Lord that announcer needs to STFU and just let them play, IMO anyway. ;-)

Adam Driver's voice is terrible.
thought I was the only one...if Kylo Ren dropped being an angsty sith lord to pursue his dreams in being in an indie band
