This talk from Mika Mysta and Nina are very real - quite different from most of the advices other Niji members give - and I really appreciate it. It makes me reaffirm what I really want to do if I’m auditioning. Bless them!

i've always been insecure about my voice. not "normal" enough to sound like the average female, not deep enough to sound cool, and not high enough to sound cute. i'm stuck between an awkward place: between the normal and high, so i just hate it. but after hearing this, i kinda grew a bit more confident in myself. thank you mika

I, on the other hand, hate how raw my voice is.. it isn't soft at all, like how it's supposed to be for girls. Plus, I'm also talking nasally 🥲 and if I try streaming, I can't really be loud nor can I try to learn how to sing, even though I wish I could, because I live in a studio apartment and my neighbours van hear EVERYTHING! (especially in the main hallway, even when doors of my apartment are closed). I wish I could get over the embarrassment, but I feel so anxious when I know that everyone can hear what I'm saying..plus streaming by itself isn't really stress free either xD but I wanted to try, to be able to include those streams in nijisanji audition form.... but I guess no can do 🥲 if I had the money, I would soundproof the room as much as I could but I'm a student 😅

Mika is so sweet, I love Mika giving advices for her future kouhai
Gotta agree with Mika, you gotta have confidence and proud of what you're good at.
You shouldn't really care for the hate, you'll get hate especially when you're doing something right

Aaaah totally felt what she meant when saying "It's not your voice, it's your content".. I used to hate rewatching my vods, i thought it's my voice, but no it's cos I suck! Hahahaha
Now I'm at point where I can actually smile rewatching it, even tho sometimes I still AM awkward as heck or got tongue tied or make mistakes or anything but I got better in making fun of it to be more entertaining ^^
Still don't think I'm NijisanjiEN level of good tho! But will try my best anyway xD

Being famous comes with drawbacks, and those are what you call "haters" so you better be prepared

Wish I could have confidence in something, even for things unrelated to the audition it's really difficult to be a person with generalized anxiety and 0 confidence on your own skills even on things that I have been doing for such a long time.
Somehow I'm thankful that Mika said all of this, even if it feel like a pinch of salt on the wound, it's really realistic but also focused on how to be objective with yourself

Nothing wrong with that I’m sure a lot of people would love it even if you don’t if you were to do something such as streaming I’m sure people would adore it

Mainly not auditioning because the EN talent for niji have set such a high bar.

If I ever wanna do streaming, I'll never tied myself down to a big corporate. I rather be independent. Regarding the voice part, this is not a solution or anything but it reminds me of a certain VTuber who use speech-to-text to speech. That's unique and hilarious at the same time. Just saying.

Im not exactly insecure to my voice, but i have speech problems (which is unfortunately expensive as hell to get fixed) which really lowers my confidence, above other things (lack of talent, potato pc. etc)

Needing something you confidently know you're good at makes sense... Now how do I use steel forging for a vtuber career?

Well I can't really audition when all I have is a semi-shitty laptop that can't run a stream properly. I'd have to get something better 🙂💧

At least have some confident in sth you do
If you cannot believe even a little in yourself then how the company and the viewers can

This is a total amateur opinion, but I think you should treat your audition like a business pitch: you have a product or service, and believe that there's a market for what you have. In the application or interview, whichever is more appropriate, you convince your recruiters of both of these things. So, develop your skills, research the market, and think about how to present your results convincingly.

I beg to differ. She actually got a point. Not everyone want to think something they love to do as a burden.
Sure you got to be professional since we are working for a big company like Nijisanji, but that does not mean you should work like a robot.
And if it's not something we can put our heart into, it will certainly hurt us in a long term.
Entertainment business is a field where "passion" matters, if you don't have any passion, what is the difference from working in another job? It's better to not apply as Vtuber in the first place, no?
At the end of the day, a work is business, whether we love it or not.

I have a question 🙋🏻‍♀️ Let’s say you’ve already debuted your model and have been streaming for a while, then you decide to audition for NijisanjiEN, you pass the audition. Do they let you keep your current model or would they make you use one of theirs?
