Excited to join the 100-Day Industry-Ready Developers Challenge by Phillipp Lackner! I’m starting today, 14th January 2025, 12:45 PM IST, and I commit to submitting my project exactly after 100 days. Let’s do this! 💪
Congratulations to you for starting on this thrilling new adventure! I'm really happy to see you taking on Phillipp Lackner's 100-Day Industry-Ready Developers Challenge. exhibits extraordinary commitment and concentration. This is an excellent chance for development and education. Bro, let's get this done! I'll be cheering you on at every turn.
I'm in my second year as an Android Developer. Pretty much like it and thanks to your videos that always helps me. I like what I'm doing, and get excited when building a new project using Jetpack Compose. I'm currently working at some company. But I am concerned about the future of the programmer because as you know companies like Meta etc have started to replace junior-mid engineers with AI. Of course I keep doing my best to improve and also use AI to boost my progress
No AI can seriously replace a developer yet. LLMs are by definition average since they've learnt from all content online, both good and bad. If AI takes over some of our work at some point, for sure not LLMs like ChatGPT :)
Maybe in five to ten years but not yet. I heard what Zuckerberg said and he didn't say that it was happening yet, just that he expected it to happen in 2025. I think he is just talking up his efforts for the shareholders.
@@PhilippLackner I can attest to this as I am currently learning jetpack and kotlin by developing a password manager app. At some points I don't know who's more confused, me or the AI. A lot of it probably has to do with the rapidly changing nature as of recent of compose and kotlin in android studio
Zuck, Bezos, Musk, etc. All of them suck and lie more than they are honest. Zuckerberg firing all those people is about saving money, and marketing his AI. Because why not, when he can give his current employees a ton of work. The tech CEO's are all terrible people that will do inhuman stuff for a quick extra buck.
Well I started learning with your channel since July 2024 and it’s not even up to a year and I’ve touched all 9 things mentioned (aside KMP as I don’t have a Mac to target IOS yet) and I can say Phillip is right, building projects is the most important was to master these things. Thank you for all you do once again, when I’m ready for KMP, I’ll comeback to your videos 🙂↔️❤️
Philipp! You are one of my favorite Android UA-camrs, thanks so much for the great content. I know it wasn’t the main point of this video, but I think your comments regarding React Native are a little outdated. Not sure if you would ever venture outside of Android content, but I think it would make for a great video if you tried building something in React Native. After all, Compose and SwiftUI were heavily inspired by React.
Can you make a advanced project toturial playlist for us where you build some unique and at the same time useful projects which solves daily life problems of people. That's very helpul for us in 2025 as a Mobile developer.
Your take on Dependency Injection is so apt. DI, while vital isn't really complex. But you'll never realize this if all your knowledge of DI is based on Dagger-Hilt. It's just unnecessarily complex. Great video as always. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼 10:57
Great video as usual! This community is exactly what i need now coming back to android after few years, wish i can afford the recurring monthly membership, my debit cards also don't work outside Nigeria
Seems like im on right track and i already have covered all the points covered in this video and have build quite a few projects as well. Although i used roomdatabase, HILT and retrofit for these. And im quite lacking on architecture part it seems, im quite weak on theortical ascepts too, i will revise and cover loose topics then try for an interview. Hopefully i will pass the interview.
I recently realized that backend is not for me. I love seeing my product grow and visually transform. I was choosing between a web frontend based on some JS(TS) stack and android development, which constantly attracted me. Throwing away a year of experience on the backend was certainly hard, but I hope it wasn't in vain. I also hope that I didn't lose out with android development and that I can use it to realize my ideas and find a job) Thank you for the quality content you provide for people. The most important thing is that it's high-quality, not only from a visual point of view, but also from the point of view of the information you provide.
I've been following your native Android roadmap and have learned Jetpack and Kotlin. However, after watching this video, I'm feeling a bit confused about whether to stick with this roadmap or continue with the native Android development roadmap.
❤❤❤thx for inspiration, in one day I will buy your cmp course, when I get enough money, I love watching your videos, it's really looks much pretty and easy then code I see everyday
Thanks for the video Philip. Do you think the KMM will overtake the react native or Flutter? Companies are interested in candidates with native and hybrid expertise. That's what I understood while trying to switch the job
Thanks for your wonderful video. I am bit stuck which one should I go whether android native or cross platform react native. The reason is that I did bit of research on LinkedIn most of them are start-up doing cross-platform react native, even less use of flutter. I have not problem picking up a new programming, my background would say I am intermediate using python, due to working with data analysis, visualisation libraries. I have two project idea that tackles the current issue of the data analyst area, and want to build a software/tool that helps mitigate which also includes customised LLM model. There is a huge potential market on the idea I have, i approached with few data analyst and engineering pain pointing the problem. I want to create a good minimum viable product ready for use and starts to get traction and gradually add all the missing feature.
Phillip please make a video about how to make our own custom toolbar.. the newer android version don't have any "style.xml" file it has themes.xml file, please make a detailed video about custom toolbar. I'm trying to change the title of the toolbar but it isn't changing
Hi again, I would like to buy your courses and have access to the campus but I'm not sure if accessing the campus will also give me access to the courses. I'll appreciate it if you clarified this.
Hello #Philipp Lackner, I am an Android developer and have been working for 14 months. I have a question: I want to switch to web development because there are many issues with Android. With every update, their policies change, and in every app, we have to write the same code 2 to 3 times due to version differences. First, it was Java, then Kotlin, and now Compose. Now there’s KMP too. Can you give me a solid reason to stay with Android? I feel like working on Android is just wasting time. Plus, there’s no backend in Android; for that, you need JS, databases, etc. So my opinion is that web development is better because these problems don’t exist there. Kindly guide me on what I should do. Should I continue working on Android or switch to web development? Thank you.
If you don't enjoy Android and feel like it's a waste of time, it's valid to do something else, I don't need to convince you from anything there if you feel different in your situation. Android is still installed on 70%+ of worldwide smartphones, so if your question is whether it's still relevant - of course it is. But the grass isn't always greener on the other side :D Web devs complain about other things, they're confused with hundreds of frameworks to build websites, weird JavaScript behavior and a lot more competition overall.
@@PhilippLackner Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate the perspective you're offering. I totally get that Android development is still hugely relevant, given how dominant it is in the global smartphone market. My struggle isn’t about its relevance but more about whether it's the right path for me personally. You’re right that every field has its own challenges-web devs dealing with countless frameworks and quirks like weird JavaScript behavior sounds like its own brand of chaos. I guess it’s a matter of figuring out what kind of challenges I feel more excited to tackle. It's true that the grass isn’t always greener, but maybe it's about finding the kind of 'grass' that feels rewarding to grow and maintain, you know? I’m still weighing my options and appreciate the reminder that every choice comes with its ups and downs.
I am a college student currently working on native Android development. I am considering switching to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP). Is it necessary to have a Mac to learn KMP?
