I could not agree more. The greatest, most comfortable, most 'forget they are on when riding' shoes I have ever cycled with. The greatest compliment you can give a shoe is that you give your feet no thought at all when riding. These are those shoes. And they are worth every penny.
I can confirm what you said about the shoes, although I own a MTB version of these, and they simply the best shoes I ever had in my cycling life. I love them so much that I'm going to buy road version as well.
Great review! Specialized just had a sale on these, 50% off retail (for the less popular colours), so I gave them a chance. Really glad I did, as it feels amazing on my wider foot. Fit is even better than my Shimano RC902.
I use toothpaste and a brush or Mr. Clean magic eraser. Both work well. I have found the best way is to be on that toe cap from day 1. Give it a try it should clean nicely. The only shoes I have ever worn are S-WORKS shoes.
I really like the shoe with the one boas dial. However, there is a gap between the middle of the shoe and the back of the shoe. So, two boas may help it close that gap.
I’ll try the eraser! Usually the sandpaper only needs to come out after an accidental tire kick on a sharp turn, those are hard to cleanup. There’s plenty of material and only the scuff gets sanded off. Very little actual plastic is sanded off.
I have the S-Works super lightweight Aros shoes. There’s great ventilation through the footbed that make them ideal for indoor training. I will note, though, that I have a C width narrow foot and use Sidi road and MTB shoes riding outside.
Interesting about the wider shape, I tried some Torch (not S-Works) and they felt narrow and not comfortable, comparing to my regular Shimano RC-7 - 701. For the toe I don't think you can clean it, might be better to cover the scratches with some tipp-ex.
Very strange indeed because I don’t the Shimano shoes far too narrow for my feet. Did you try this newest model? Because the torch 1, 2 and 3 still follow their old shape
@@cyclingunboxed definitely it was an older shape Torch, yes. Shimano run small, but I found that the standard width to be enough for me. I did not try Shimano wide fit.
Is that how much room you have in front of your toes inside the shoe? Looks like it's over 1cm. I have a pair and trying to determine if I need to size down. 2:08
I have quite a wide and short foot so I need that size for it to fit me. Even so it feels like the perfect fit. It doesn’t feel like there is extra room that doesn’t need to be there if that makes sense?
Of course you can! They are like normal shoe sizes so if you are a 44 for normal shoes. Good chance you will be in cycling too. The hard part about cycling shoes is sometimes they are wider or narrower that you would expect which is why, if you can it’s worth trying on in the shop and wear them for 10 minutes plus. If not make sure you can order from somewhere you can return. I hope that helps. If not, feel free to ask more questions.
What about heel cup? This wide asymmetric heelcup probably is less secure than best heel cups in the world: in s-works 6 and 7. Is this any unnacceptable movement in heel area or poor heel retention (without strong BOA ratcheting)
For me. I am locked in good. Even if I don’t tighten up the shoe fully I can’t pull the shoe of the heel. If I had to give it a rating, for my personal heel it would be a 9/10 fit. It’s not something I have ever had to think about with the shoe.
@@cyclingunboxed thank You. For me it’s very important area, because in max efforts like sprints You pull and lift foot very hard and fast so heel must be stay planted.
I can only test them up to 1500 watts so for me they work very well up to that power range. Worth a try on in a store or return from delivery to give them a good feel for yourself I think.
I think it’s hard to say because of the boa dials. They tighten the shoe to the correct tension every time. The shoes have felt the same the whole time, it doesn’t matter if I loosen or tighten them. From this I would say they have stayed the same since the start.
Lots of people in the comments recommend the magic eraser to me for like £2 in the supermarkets. Works like a charm. Zero scuff marks and takes the yellow away as well.
Poorly ventilated compared to the prior offerings. I don't typically have issues with my foot overheating, but these shoes are uncomfortable at 80F/27C temps and above.
@@cyclingunboxed I don't. I have ridden specialized s-works shoes for about 15 years now and this is the first time I've ever had an issue. I'd ask specialized to take them back, but their support page doesn't work.

Wut!? Where did this sale occur?
@ayowser01 I think he might be confused... the sell was for the previous model.... ?
@@cyclingunboxed what do You think about Torch lace version?
Superb review, probably the best so far!

Thanks for the tips! I will give them a go
If the toothpaste doesn't work at least they'll smell minty fresh 😅
@@kpizzle1985 Exactly
just bought these in the deep blue colour. This video is making me think i made the right choice in buying them
Has to be white all the way for me! The magic eraser that everyone has been suggesting worked a treat on the scuff plate.

I take a bit of 220grit sandpaper to the scuff plate every time there’s a mark. Cleans it up to the base white, looks perfect indefinitely.
Good to know. That does feel quite abrasive to me though. The magic eraser that a lot have suggested has worked excellently so far

I would try mr clean magic eraser to get the tow guard. Might clean it.
Had this one suggested to me a few times now so I gave it a go. Worked amazingly well so thank you.
Just getting involved in cycling, can I ask a noob question as to sizing in ordering online? Or best to go into a local bike shop?
Of course you can!

So you are using the same size both on old Sworks 7 and this new Torch? Thanks :)
Yes same size. The torch fits me much better. It’s the extra width that really helps.
Thanks for the reply!! So you suggest a size down? Or same is good too?
The same size is good. The lockdown on top of the foot is really good! Will be more comfortable the same size
I use WD-40 and a micro fibre cloth - the micro fibre cloth is key

Unfortunately not. All those other shoes were too narrow for my feet so I never rode with them. Only tried them on at sigma sports in Kingston.
Have you tried a Magic Eraser on the scruff plate?
This one has been suggested a few times and seems like a nice cheap option. just ordered some to try!
@@cyclingunboxed Ordered? Just go to your local super market 😆 Let us know how you go.
I didn’t know it was in supermarkets 😂
Try simple green for cleaning.
Thank you
get some Saphir Decapant to clean front of your shoes, it works very well
I have used a magic eraser which was mentioned a few times and that did the trick. I appreciate your suggestion though!
Do you get a good heal cup lock down..
For me, absolutely. And the same with other that I know with this shoe. Can’t say I have every had to worry about it

all the best
I thought it was a strange question 😂
My ones come in at 532g for the pair
DMT Italian shoeas are absulutely the best. They fit like a glove.
Always wanted to try some. I may go for them as my next shoe
Depends as usual. For example, with a high-volume foot, you don’t even get your foot into the KR0 shoes...
Did the shoe ever stretch or shrink?

To clean toe cap try magic erasers
Had that suggestion a few times now. Worked like a charm!
You ride for 12 hours?
Very rarely but on certain events like the Mallorca 312 can go up to that long
That dirty yellow tip. You just convinced me to never ever buy them. 😂

Take « Colourlock power leather cleaner » for cleaning leather and plastic it’s beautiful and safe for leather !
Thank you. It seems quite expensive for what it is but if I can’t find anything cheaper, I will definitely give it a go!
Actual.
