I'm really anxious for plasma 6.1 as well, since driver 555 has got out and Xwayland 24.1 got support for E-Sync, they say the stuttering is gone on Wayland, some say that the definite driver that will have full support for wayland and no problems will be 560, but 555 must be 99% precise already.
I'm on debian 12 for now, i will wait a little since ubuntu 24.04 just got out, im full in on Tuxedo OS, but it will take a while for them to update to 24.04, plasma 6.1, xwayland 24.1, so i will be wainting here, working on my stuff, maybe a year or the end of 2024 and we will see something finally coming out, lets wait and see.
All i want is to find that stuff i failed too and make a part 2 lol but the settings menu sucks
I'm using driver 555 and Plasma 6.1 Beta right now.
The Wayland experience is usable, but it's not good. There is still occasional stuttering on pretty much everything and everything starts lagging like crazy when using any pipewire capture (like OBS or Vesktop screenshare). I'm sure the 560 driver will fix some of this.
@@Treetrain1 have you activated Explicit Sync, since i think this is the fix for these stutterings, it comes with driver 555 Plasma 6.1 since it uses Xwayland 24.1, or you will need to make a workaround, i heard there is a hack, to make it somehow work with Xwayland version 23 as well even if it doesnt support E-Sync, since you are experimenting on this now, look for this, i cant do it because i'm on debian 12.
I've been using KDE since my dad gave me a used Dell D600 with Kubuntu installed on it when I was little. I have to say I'm a huge fan of it. Great video.
Great to hear! I have hopes
You nailed it. Thats the big problem of KDE. I really wanna use it but the settings driving me crazy.
Thanks
Hey, everyone, right now the beta has Extreme issues and freezing and stuttering and the Wayland Experience is unstable (Beta), But the issues are reported so Fixes should come
Also Testing this in its current state is not possible due to these bugs but i will attempt to go more in-depth maybe when I am on my desktop.
good stuff
If you cannot find a given setting, just start typing on your desktop.
Also, regarding the comment that you can find any setting you are looking for in Windows and that it's more organized than KDE Plasma - I can find my way in Windows, because I've been using it for years, but if I was a newcomer, I can easily confuse myself between the Settings panel, the control panel and the little links for additional option menus, placed on inconvenient parts of the window. In KDE, I have never had issues with not being able to find anything, and the Settings menu is not divided on Control panel, device manager, disk manager and what not, as it is on Windows.
Yeah, I tried that before. I recorded the video, but it still didn’t work. I try though.
Why is everybody using microsoft edge dev?
Literally, what the heck?
Because it works and uses less ram and cpu then chrome or firefox and it's fast af also because it's my choice
@@Mattscreative I mean why you use especially dev version but not the stable one? I'm using it on Windows but i don't know what happening with browsers on linux to be honest, i don't like firefox so and i like chrome extensions so im using Google Chrome on linux
I’m using the Dev version because I find it less buggy and it has more fixes than the stable or beta version and trust me, I would be using the canary version but that’s not available on Linux
@@Mattscreative Thorium Browser.
Using statements like "copied gnome' and "ripped off macOS" makes you opinion about KDE totally worthless, you're obviously bias. I can't take your criticism seriously.
Talk about salty .. even the devs admitted they did just that so why get mad over it haha im sure you will find your way
@@Mattscreative Desktop environments copy each other all the time, that's how good things get better, it has no place in an objective critique
The issue is they do a bad job copying it .. and that leads to a bad user experience which is what most people have with kde .. aka that they don’t try at all
@@Deezter16Bro you’re a clown. 🤡 Gives someone else stink about their opinions and calling it bias, then proceeds to say biased opinions afterwards. Your tism is showing.
@@Mattscreative sounds much like an opinion, not a fact. I see your videos, you're a Gnome user, and you should it it works for you. But I tried Gnome too and KDE just works better for me and many others. You're falling in the Windows trap, where Windows users say Linux sucks because they don't know how to operate it. You should know better
