During the 'cast there seemed to be some interest in hearing more of me performing, so here's a playlist of mostly improv work solo and with others: VIDEO: Chris Meyer solo: Buddha of Compassion: ua-cam.com/video/RQoDIk6Ih0Q/v-deo.html (intro includes Ears into Rings into Clouds for more contact mic fun) I Have Tried: ua-cam.com/video/SFTxM6O0yB0/v-deo.html (more moody spoken word tone poem stuff) Buddha of Compassion (alt version): ua-cam.com/video/4z9z8W8FgkA/v-deo.html (this time, with a Nano Garden + feedback for the intro) with Meridian Alpha: Witch Child: ua-cam.com/video/HsAU1WSFJFY/v-deo.html abstract improv with a trio LT Drive: ua-cam.com/video/EyikQ816rJE/v-deo.html getting heavy (with the same trio) with Aaron Higgins of 1010music: Knobcon improv: ua-cam.com/video/G5Li_OsqhBU/v-deo.html (more Nano Garden, for those who can’t get enough) AUDIO: with earth_626 (Abe Mora): dotwave.fireside.fm/scss very abstract; a lot of fun with zZyzx Society (Jill Fraser & Peter Grenader; excerpt edited by Jill Fraser:) soundcloud.com/learning-modular/alias-zone-zzzyx-society-mostly-live-2019 Cold January with Jill Fraser (also edited by Jill): soundcloud.com/learning-modular/alias-zone-jill-fraser-coldjanuary Data Cult Audio set: datacultaudio.com/data-cult-audio-0142-chris-meyer/ two songs you’ve seen videos of above, and two more groove-oriented pieces
Great stuff, really interesting and I definitely learned something and picked up some tips and tricks to try out. Was a fun night in the chat as well 😎🖤
Chris: love LM channel and these series with Ben, et al. Would you “publish” your Tardis rack on Modular Grid so we can all investigate at our own pace?
The Vector Sequencer, as well as the 1010music Bitbox and Blackbox, have the ability to "autocorrect" switching sequences or starting sample playback. I set it to 2 bars on Bit/Blackbox, and 1 bar (the maximum) on the Vector, so I can cue up changes there and then go do something else while I get ready for the downbeat (such as switching octaves on the Klavis CalTrans, which I have to do by hand at the exact moment I want). This approach is a carryover from the way drum machines work (or at least the way they used to in the 80s and 90s when I last used them) where you could cue up the next pattern, and it would start with the current pattern was finished. Another strategy I use is to cue up pitch (and other parameter changes) for Rings. Normally it responds to them immediately. So instead, I put a sample & hold between the controller or CV source and Rings, and trigger the sample & hold with the same thing I use to trigger rings (in this case, the envelope follower in the Befaco Instrument Interface, which puts out a gate when I strike a new note on the Nano Garden). This way, I set up a new voltage ahead of time using the mini keyboard or the sequencer or whatever, the sample & hold cues it up, and when it gets triggered, it passes along that new voltage to its output and onto Rings.
Hi Jed, listening to the kid in the house or lack of sleep from, been 2.5 hours into a stream after working or just how I normally look!? Who knows :) doubt I was bored with Chris though, always a pleasure to chat to him.

More long format videos from either and both of you!
Hello. Really enjoying these videos. Ta
I’m here because we share the same name
Damnit I missed the livestream, I was looking for the video to set a reminder early today but I think I got distracted and never did it 😪

Actually just found it “Feeding the Tardis”. Pretty straightforward search. Oops
@@lucagunther5405 for those with lesser search skills ;-) , here's the link: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1247077
I'm watching well after the livestream and very curious about his cueing items before they're audible. How exactly do you do that?
The Vector Sequencer, as well as the 1010music Bitbox and Blackbox, have the ability to "autocorrect" switching sequences or starting sample playback. I set it to 2 bars on Bit/Blackbox, and 1 bar (the maximum) on the Vector, so I can cue up changes there and then go do something else while I get ready for the downbeat (such as switching octaves on the Klavis CalTrans, which I have to do by hand at the exact moment I want). This way, I set up a new voltage ahead of time using the mini keyboard or the sequencer or whatever, the sample & hold cues it up, and when it gets triggered, it passes along that new voltage to its output and onto Rings.
And by the way, I'm into butterflies (and to a smaller degree, moths) as well. Good name.
poor ben looks so bored. 2:33:00
