Yay! Looking forward to a smaller tank build video / demo here. I have waited to get back in b/c I need a smaller tank (10gal ) and easier maintenance for when I have to travel. -
Great to see another Dog dog online vendor start up a UA-cam page! Not to mentioned Ken got Mr. Saltwater making these awesome videos for us reefers! Many thanks and Amen to displays with \some substrate in it. I am in the process of setting up a SCA Rimless 150 and I was wondering how many bags of #TropicEden Meso and Reeflakes will I need in order to have a nice 1 - 2'' layer of sand ? I am thinking around 8 or 9 30lb bags.
I've just subscribed to the channel and I am returning to the salt water aquarium hobby after about 10 year absence. My experience was using under sand filters because we had no canisters or sump filtration back then. So I just want a fish only aquarium. I intend to have a canister filter and a 50 gallon tank. About how much sand and what kind of sand is best for fish only? I see several of your advertised sands for coral tanks. Thanks.
hi , when it comes to the paint , does it have to be flat ? can it have some sort of sheen or satin shade ? will this enhance the look of the black background ? sorry might be a dumb question . Thanks for the info
Question I just purchased the budget kit from your website I just have a quick question when you add to Sand doesn’t the water become cloudy and also I know that the sand comes with a little pouch to clarify the water do I add the little pouch?
Mark...I am a newbe and was lucky enough to get a 200 gallon tank from a buddy with all the equipment. I am in the process of getting it up and running. How much sand would I need for that size of tank?
great video...can you please tell me the type of fishes you have in the tank in your background? Like the yellow and white, with the black strip and so forth. Thanks
Paulo Pacheco the yellow and white ones are pyramid butterflies. The white and black is a bandit angelfish. Note that none of those fish are appropriate for the budget tank build. 😉
@@mrsaltwatertank oh man thank you very much for your reply, however, I heard they eat corals, and you have corals there, how that could happen? I just got a gift from my wife that is coming in 3 weeks my peninsula 228 waterbox I will contact you on your website to follow all the steps. I have one of my tanks with 10 angelfishes, I was able to trick them to leave together, but no corals.
Paulo Pacheco the pyramids are known for being reef safe. The bandit is a fish on the fringe so he may eat corals. Mine nips occasionally but doesn’t destroy. I had a friend who had one and he said it destroyed corals
@@mrsaltwatertank I have to be honest with you, my first tank I did all the steps following your instructions, I'm your fan man, but now since I'm going to another level I will try sign out for coaching at your site. Thanks
I know 1000% you know what your doing!!!! But what are your feelings about putting your rock work in first then pouring in your sand to provide a more stable environment for your structure because of fish like gobies as mentioned in your video?
2PLEEZ it can be done that way too. As I talk about in the next video, I lay down the sand and then push the rocks into the sand. I’ve found this provides extra support to the rocks as their is some sand beneath them
Mr. Saltwater Tank TV ..... Thanks for the quick reply!!! Like I stated earlier.... I don’t doubt you by any means 😉 I was just worried for a second 😄 I guess I should mind my own business and leave it up to the pro’s 😜 Thanks again!
FINALLY!! A walk through budget build for beginners wanting to get in the hobby like me. Thank you
Thank you so much for this series!
Right on I’ve been waiting for someone to do a budget build. I Subbed. Cheers

What are the pros and cons of placing on the stand in the kit vs a dresser or similar furniture?

What are your thoughts on below sand plenums?
What would you do differently now?

Mark what size sand do you have in your 440?

Can I use those background things to tape on the back of the tank that they sell in stores instead of painting it?
I don't see why not.
I have the 20L tank (30x12x12), does that mean I need a little more sand to adequately cover the bottom?
Wes Trestler that’s no where near big enough

@@MsPaulopacheco congrats on the success! I'm currently not consulting on client builds as I'm just doing complete design/builds for clients.
What kind of paint do you use to adhere to the smooth glass?
We use an exterior black from any home improvement store really. Takes a few coats.
What kind of urchin is that on the 450gallon
pincushion

How long is the kit going to be up for?
Years, I hope
How about sand from actual salt water body? I live 20 mins from the gulf of mexico.
thought this guy died
Didn't die! I've made over 100 videos for saltwateraquarium.com now which is apparently enough to pop back up in some people's notifications!
Videos are too short :(
:) Working on that
